Cliff Racers are a type of flying pterodactyl-like creature in the game "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind" They're known for chasing the player high in the sky for long periods of time and build up in numbers before swooping down to attack the player when they're unaware. One cliff racer was mostly annoying to the player, but in large numbers they could quickly kill you if you were unprepared.
If you have an Ad-blocker/banner-blocker running, that may also be your cause. I use Kaspersky and if I have it block banner ads, some websites show up like that.
Look harder. each save generates biomes differently. In one of my saves, it took several in-game days of non-stop travel to find snow. whereas another save had me spawn right next to snow.
From what I can tell from the save files of my own game, the Nether uses the same random seed as the normal world (because I cant find a second level.dat in the DIM-1 folder). It just uses it in a different manner to create caves. So that would explain why it was regenerated exactly the same.
We've all noticed that the new Biomes feature does some funky stuff to grass color. particularly how the trim is still vibrant green whereas the top might be brown. Notch mentioned somewhere (I believe he said it during the live stream earlier today) that he couldn't get the coloring system to just tint part of the texture. but what if he were to use a masking texture? Something like how Specular maps define what parts of a texture are reflective or not.

The white area being the area that gets tinting data, the black being the area that doesn't get the tinting data.
If Java can even support something like this, then I believe this would be the answer to better looking grass.
(If this can work, then Notch is free to use this example I made, it matches the default grass)

2. Customized Painterly
3. Jolicraft.
in that order of favorite.
I'd use Jolicraft more but I'm not a fan of the sandstone textures. will have to customize them later.

Here ya go.
Note: this will not work as a player skin without modification. skeletons use slightly different texture topology than the human model.
EDIT: in-game screen shot:
