Out of curiosity, has anyone legitimately completed Ragequit Holidays on unedited video?

CilantroGamer did it with two caveats:
-First, he used a method other than the obvious one to do it.
-Second, he either edited out or sped up boring parts of the video (it is very obvious that he did not cheat, however).
    It was a Vechs-approved solution.

During my playthrough of Spellbound Caves, I found one rather obnoxious -- in a very unfun, simple, tedious way -- part:

In the Skittering Mines, around the wool room, there are hundreds of cobblestone blocks that spawn silverfish. Okay, great. I broke one, started dealing with the silverfish, some got away, and eventually an entire layer of cobble turned into them. I was in absolutely no danger -- they were doing no damage at all to me -- but so many started spawning that it brought my computer to its knees, lowering my FPS to unplayable levels. I had to make my way slowly, agonizingly out of the area until I finally got away from the ridiculous lagspike.

So...please, for those of us with slow computers, don't overdo the silverfish. There are plenty of ways to add challenge without adding crippling lag; in this case, crippling lag without much challenge, the result was maddening. I'm having a blast with the map, but that section of Spellbound Caves was unpleasant. :/

    Just my two cents.

Vechs, you are magnificent and evil and awesome and I think you should be aware of this.

I finally got around to giving one of your maps a serious try after watching people go through several of them. I selected Spellbound Caves, because it was the most recent, had an interesting theme, and I hadn't seen anybody do it.

Long story short, I triggered an extremely startling trap in an early area that involved suddenly falling down a very deep 1x1 hole into lava; I think you probably know what I'm talking about. Right before I would have died and probably thrown my computer across the room, I remembered that I had a bucket of water, so I placed it down, picked up the lava and survived.

...no, I don't really have a point in telling you this story. It's just my way of expressing my thanks for creating interesting situations that force us to think on our feet.

Keep up the good work, in other words.

    also make another RFW map

-snip- How can this work with Yogbox? /paraphrase -snip-

It's actually mostly compatible; you just need to change a couple of block IDs. I *believe* that if you change 230 and 234 in BTW to 249 and 250, they should work together. I haven't tried it myself, though, so I can't confirm it 100%.

(if you don't know how to change the ID numbers, check the readme in BTW. Proceed with caution.)

ok the new mod loader is out can i still use the old btw file with it or do i wait for flower to update?

You wait for the Minecraft Coder Pack to update. As a clue to let you know when you can play this mod with 1.7, look for the title to magically change to [1.7.2] Better Than Wolves Mod!

Thanks. I actually just saw the video demonstration one of the regulars put up on you tube which really helped. In your reply to my post, you were able to fix the formatting issues I was having. How did you do that?

This forum uses bbcode, not html, so all your formatting changes go in [] brackets instead of <>. There are also some different commands, but it doesn't take long to get used to it.

Hey flower, what do you think of my ideas for the redstone?

FlowerChild hates being nagged about things and rarely responds to ideas posted in his thread. Your ideas are unlikely to be implemented and become less likely with every post you make bugging him about a response. Please stop.

Well, I guess I can accept that and will quietly disagree. :smile.gif:

On a side note: Care to elaborate on what you mean by "FlowerChild doesn't want what happened to the pistons to happen to him"? I never used the pistons mod and the only difference Ive spotted from my limited reading on the subject is that the mod launched items and players further than the "implemented pistons".

P.S: Yeah I know I replied a few pages late but heck, I was away visiting my parents for dinner.

Basically, it's looking like all the creator of the piston mod got for his work was an e-pat on the back while jeb_ looked at the code and then remade it in his own fashion. In other words, they were nerfed, implemented, and barely credited. I think.

Will You be upgrading this to 1.7?

Nah; he got bored of answering obvious questions and flew off to live in Tahiti. I doubt we'll hear any more from him.

Does any1 know when its gonna update to 1.7? :ohmy.gif:

    Thank you on the Info

It actually just updated. This update completely overhauls Minecraft, adding upwards of 50 entirely new blocks and even a couple mobs. I suggest you download it immediately.

On a side note, it's incredible how well FlowerChild can code in his sleep.

(also, nobody knows when it's going to update. Wait and see.)

Please know that I have been to sell this mod to a Russian site of Minecraft for US$ 5 each and made a few thousand dollars so far. Goodnight.

O_O That...that's so illegal I don't even know where to begin. Seriously, if you have any respect at all for FlowerChild, stop selling his mod. Immediately.

(edit: just to make this clear, I don't care if people are trolling or just being stupid; I will respond to them the same either way. It's fun.)

I just downloaded the YogBox to check it out, and while it's not integrated into the actual pack, a copy of your mod IS included with the download! Did they get permission to do this??

Edit: On top of that, your name isn't mentioned anywhere in the credits.

I downloaded it to double-check, and I'm not seeing BTW anywhere in it, nor mentioned in the OP at all. Which folder are you seeing it in?

Edit: Operation "Ninja Kal" successful. Blade out.

-snip- The reason i reacted is simply because I *REALLY* care for this mods publicity and want as many minecrafters as possible to know about, and talk about it. -snip-

While I see your point, the fact is that FlowerChild couldn't care less about publicity at this point and is frustrated with the influx of stupidity. He's not interested in making the mod popular, he's just interested in making the mod.

As for getting it into official Minecraft...while that would be nice, FlowerChild doesn't want what happened to the pistons to happen to him, and with his conditions, it is extremely unlikely that we will ever see this in the official game. As things stand right now, it seems like a pretty reasonable position for him to take.

In other words, popularity really doesn't matter for it. The quality of the userbase matters much more.

i was wondering if this mod will be combined into a multi player mod so all can see the awesomeness of this i enjoyed the mod on single player.

It's on his to-do list, but don't expect it for a while.

EDIT @NydusWorm: Watch the tutorials very carefully and provide a lot more details than just "it doesn't work." Make sure the water going under it is running, make sure the gearboxes are attached correctly, make sure you've read and followed the instructions...et cetera.

Well, i'm a noob, i didn't read the bit saying that u grow hemp :smile.gif:,

but how do u get it???????????????????????????

It's kinda tricky. You can only get it from these guys, they're called 'dealers,' they live underground...try looking for them near diamond level. They like gold, so take some of that with you. Finally, be prepared to fight your way out. Things can get ugly down there.

Or you could try hoeing grass. That might work also.

    EDIT: GAH! Ninja'd three times!
