By procedural, I mean it's all randomly generated. There are no predefined cookie-cutter rooms, but only rules about how to construct rooms and hallways. It does not generate as you explore. It just creates a random dungeon somewhere on the map. And yes, because it can only draw into chunks you've already generated, it can destroy things in your maps if you are not careful.

People call this a mod, but it's not. It doesn't modify the game in any way, nor does it run anything while playing Minecraft. It's really a map editing tool that draws random dungeons in existing Minecraft maps.

You can do a couple of things to dictate where the dungeon appears, or locate a random one.

Thank you for the prompt response! I play around with some backups last night, and found a dungeon on my server map right near my original spawn point in the water. It is very gloriously generated, and everything seems to be working perfect :smile.gif:.

I apologize for calling this a mod good sir. I completely understand that it is properly called a tool that modifies a map.

So my other question is, the tool generates only one dungeon? Or will it generate more than one in random, already explored, chunk areas? So if I already cleared out the one I found, can I expect to possibly find another somewhere else? Or can I explore more of my world and run the tool again later to add another dungeon to explore (of course with the risk of it appearing in the middle of my town :tongue.gif:)?

Sorry about my inquiries, this is probably the coolest thing I've seen yet for MC, and it is adding new life to the game. Cheers!

On my i-2600k cpu w7 with 16 gigs ram estimates 1 hour 30 minutes minutes for a 80x80 after about the 5 or 6th eta

Thats almost as good as my AMD Phenom II X6 1100 T with 6 cores @ 4 GHz

Quite the generator! Can't wait to test it out. Pretty sure the 2600k runs circles around the 1100T (especially with hyper threading). 6 cores is nice and all in theory, but Sandy Bridge is way faster than anything AMD has atm till possibly Bulldozer. I'm an AMD lover, till I switched to Intel for SB, now I'm excited to see what AMD has coming.

Sorry to change the subject to processors :tongue.gif:. But that 2600k is pretty much the fastest CPU on the market at the moment. Especially OC'd. 32nm ftw (till 22nm). :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

My goodness. Such a rad idea! Adds a Diablo-ish/Elder Scrolls-ish element to Minecraft. I have been very careful to just play Minecraft for what it is, as I only started 3 weeks ago. This idea of this tool alone has already sparked a great interest in exploration in just finding new things to venture out for. Cheers! :Diamond:

My roommates and I run a dedicated server on a PC we built just for Minecraft/fileserver. Our world is getting quite developed (in the small amounts of area we have actually explored). I copied that SMP world to my minecraft save directory on my own PC (while of course backing it up for safety) and ran the batch file on it to randomly generate dungeons for it. I selected "-1" for all the parameters for generation (random), and have yet to see a dungeon no matter what direction I run in and for how long. I guess I'm just curious how to know if this radical tool is actually working. I'm guessing by "procedural" you mean that it is generating dungeons as you explore, and I'm also guessing by the backup warnings; that it creates dungeons in places that you have already explored (which I've read, can wreck what you've made).

I'm running Win7 Home Premium 64 on a newly built system, running Minecraft 1.5_01 on Mincraft Server 1.5 (on my server PC). I've tried a new SSP world seeded "Dungeon" on my own computer, and run the batch file on that to see if I can't find a dungeon, and still no luck.

I promise I'm not complaining at all, my interest in this project is through the roof. This is phenomenal work! I want to implement this into my server so bad, and my roomies/friends are ecstatic!

Thanks for what you've done to this game. I will donate the second I can. Mods and texture packs for this game are radical, but this tool alone adds so much depth to adventure out.

    Cheers!

And my name is Tyler too. Awesome!
