You should check which version you have to download and install the correct java version although it is normally done automatically by java.
    Thanks

Oracle's webpage will check if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit web browser, say if OP were to use chrome the webpage would always think you are running 32-bit. Solution, right click on "My Computer" and chose properties actually, just watch this video:

    1. Maybe try to reinstall it
    2. try to find a version for windows 8
    1. There is no actual, direct way of (re/un)installing Minecraft, so I will directly assume what you meant and rephrase it:
    2. Delete .minecraft and the launcher, download the launcher and run the game.
    3. Minecraft has got three versions, .exe for Windows, .dmg for osx, and .jar for linux+everything else

I just got Windows 8 on my computer and my Minecraft keeps crashing tell me what is going on and how to fix it plz!! I MISS PLAYING!!!!

First of all I would just mention that the only thing spamming emoticons is going to do for you is to give people less of a desire to help you.
Besides, you might want to give us some more information, when does it crash, how does look like/what happens on the screen.

Lol, note the word MIGHT. and static electricity WILL build up. Go educate yourself.

Using a vacuum cleaner is as likely to build up a charge as blowing on a fan.

The statement that static electricity might fry something is true yes, it is however unrelated as it won't build up in the first place.

EDIT: OK, i actually went to 'educate' myself.. you might want to read this
Besides grounding the vacuum shouldn't exactly be a problem as modern peripheral should already be grounded.

Games supporting Linux ≠ (I assume this is what you meant) Linux being good for gaming.

no longer bad (What he stated) = good (What you stated)

    1. Don't use a vacuum cleaner.
    2. Static electricity will build up
    3. it might fry something inside.
    1. I disagree (getting back to that later)
    2. No
    3. Question: you are statically charged and touch the fan in a desktop (or any other peace of plastic), what happens?
    4. Answer:
      nothing
It may not be as efficient as a lot of other things, like disassembling the laptop and actually cleaning it, you will also need to (somewhat) use it in bursts like cans of compressed air, anything like static electricity however will not be a problem.

Can you connect with your laptop from an external network, if I remember correctly you have to use internal ip's when connecting internally.
Are you actually trying to connect to the (hamachi-)ip of the pc(desktop) and not the one of the laptop.

    Quote from Athertle
Tell all of your friends about it, go on different servers and advertise your server (at this point it wouldn't matter if you got banned :3). Those are two good ways to get people on your server, I'm sure there are more. I could help you out with advertising your server if you want :) Just shoot me a PM - Here's my profile: http://www.minecraftforum.net/user/2838790-athertle/ Good luck!

I can agree with the first thing, but.. no.. spamming is not a good way to get people to join your server, it's a good way to get both yourself (as an admin) and the server a bad reputation

    Quote from Silverlight
I have had my server up for about 2 months and advertised it on about 10 different websites yet nobody will join Anyone who joins usually ask for admin and when I say no they leave. I never see this on other peoples servers. I have had only about 3 people who will actually stay on. Everyone who likes the server usually doesn't get on later. I have many great things that many other servers do not have. There is no point in me advertising my server because the day after, I will probably be #100000 on the server list as there are many servers being submitted. There are servers out there who just have boring titles and normal things but get many people while my has a lot of extra stuff and get no players. I just saw a server with literally the title "Skyblock" and has 28 players. hanks.

Mind if I just ask, why do you need/want players on your server?
Also what is it that your server has got that other servers don't? community, custom-made mods for the server, because generally that's what popular servers got, a lot of the smaller servers are mostly friends of the admin (irl) and the server just happen to be open for others to join.

    Quote from Silverlight

I have been told to post the server on a 'cracked' website because many minecraft players are 'cracked' but I do not like 'cracked'. Thanks.

Doing that will at most get you kids who can't afford it, or people who don't see the value in minecraft even though they have obviously tried it (last one pretty much equates to trolls and spammers).

All I can really suggest is to try and delete the folder for whatever version you are experiencing the issue with, so navigate to %appdata%\.minecraft\versions and delete said version for example 1.7.4, now start the game and re-download the files ( minecraft will act as if updating).
    see if that helps.

If you want a good server:

You might want to consider the idea that what you consider as good may not be good in the eyes of the OP, although I do personally agree with you that bukkit is better for various reasons, as he has already stated he doesn't need bukkit as he's not going to use plugins thereby removing one of the reasons to use it.

    potential solutions:
    1. Re-download, potentially even place in a different folder
    2. Try the console version (the jar-file you need to run from the command-line/script)

no, if anything im mining less
I was planning on doing a comparison soon, been a bit busy. The Overall reaction to this is a lot more controversial than I had anticipated

Just note that you are also exposing less as well. (expose/mine less = smaller chance to find anything.

I find it interesting, but I can't really see anything that proves your theory to be more efficient, so a comparison would be great.
