    all suggestions in this thread has been suggested multiple times before. The Trapdoor camuflage is not in any way a unique recipie for doing it even. to OP, please search around before you post, if you got something to add to a simpilar post, add it, and it will get bumpet. Its better that way, because your ideas get a whole lot more coverage, positive coverage, than the majority of spammed suggestions in this forum.

    I'm gonna back up Mystify here, with my simplified statement, if you feel the game steals too much of your vital real time by having some opf the blocks taking too long, you probably should prioritize differently,

    I spend quite a few hours on my computer, but I don't neglect my daily duties.

    if you'd read Notch's own post on this, and you udnerstand coding, you wouldn't have to ask.

    I can't answer your last question because I'm really not that familiar with coding, I just happend to catch up on the difficulties of adding moving lights in the current engine.

    If I may.

    Soil: is what you hvae described

    Dirt: The middle thing that does not exist ingame, what you'd get if you mix gravel, soil and residue from dead plants etc.

    Clay: (non-organic, high density dirt)

    So yes, I agree Soil already have its apointed uses.

    I don't see why everything has to improve gameplay. Aestethics are important to sandbox games too. The therads on pure decorative items and blocks support this.

    And since its a sandbox game, with variables, having an aestethic block thats harder to find, does not bother me at all. Like I've stated previously, its my personal opinion to disagree with altering the code for clay commonness (is that even a word?).

    I do not mind that getting clay is a hassle, that just makes me happier when I'm finally done building the structure I intended it for.

    first of, never called him a newb.

    secondly, the handheld light has been sugegsted in countless forms, as even torches lanterns, flashlights, lavabuckets, flares, lights on minecarts, and so on etc etc.

    The only "new" thing here is that the light would increasy if you swing it. not even the durability concept is "new".
    The reason I pointed out to use the search function is also to get ideas (even idea-improvement) to bump a post where this actually have value. for in thoose posts then difficulties with dynamic lights have already been explained, in many even, solutions to this has been offered, Some posts Notch has even laid out a plan to fix it. and if he does, hand held torches, in some form or another, will come.

    So IMO this post is mainly misplaced as its own topic, but is also quite outdated already.

    Icy cave complexes

    in a snowy tundra Biome, caves that are laid out as normal caves today, only they are made of snow and Ice. many parts of the floor are slippery, and isntead of lava blocks, you have parts of the celing made brittle with icicles. If you mine to close to this unstable roof it will collaps.

    This requires you to set take safety precautions when mining. This danger in particular would be found on lava-depth and be the area where you would find minerals for this depth.

    I would suggest making "iced" mineral blocks, to make them harder to spot, but I realize this would take alot of texturing to do, but its not impossible. You would also have to be carefull not to use too many torches, or lanterns, because then walls, celings and support might melt, causing collapse.

    -collapses
    A second type of snow block, with a little browinsh tint in it, with the attributes of Gravel (drops flint sometimes and need supposrt) lets call it dirty snow (for lack of anything better atm). This dirty snow, when supporten on 4 sides will not fall unless disturbed, but one disturbance would be enough to cause a chain-cave-in to all adjadent dirty snow blocks connected.

    Main mob in theese caves would be Spiders, and or other snow-creatures in future updates.

    this has as mentioned been suggested so many times, Notch ever get the engine to cope with such a task, hand held torches will probably be available minuites after.

    use search function next time.
