Hate to bump this, but thought you guys deserved to know what was going on.
I haven't been running the server recently, working on porting over to Bukkit. Expect to see a lot more progress within the next few days. I personally am tired of working with hMod, I'm moving on to greener pastures. Maybe some day I'll switch back. If plugins are ever updated.
Going to purchase server hosting when everything is settled and the server is un-whitelisted.
Only whitelisting a select few people. No offense to anyone, I'm using people that know how to use commands and find holes in permissions. If things run smoothly I might whitelist current members so they can start playing the freebuild again.
Don't expect any miracles though. Bukkit is throwing me errors left and right still.
As an alpha owner thats always been a ++. But I personally think its kinda unfair for new buyers that pay more than alpha buyers AND have to pay for future expansions etc. :x thats just my opinion I guess
I figure Notch is just rewarding the handful of people that were initially funding him to continue working on the game.
It got a little out of hand during Alpha, but a deal is a deal.
Still enjoying myself. I've been trying to help get some buildings set up by donating my materials to players. Been getting a few neighbors this way. However, the spawn doesn't look very clean anymore, and could use with some sprucing up.
There seems to be a lot of drama between some people. It's pretty annoying hearing them ***** back and forth. Seems like there's a lot of senseless griefing going on too. If you don't do something about it I might just have to break open my collection of TnT and blow them all up.
You might want to recruit some people to help you moderate. The playerbase is getting pretty steady, and you can't be on all the time.
EDIT: Some guy was going around griefing everything in sight, so I killed him until he left. He definitely didn't like your platform, I fixed the lava falls which was put in place of the water. I'll pick up all the dirt and gravel I placed to stop the lava later.

On my SMP server though... I spawned a few hundred... I only bothered to tame around 50, but it was amusing to watch them spread out and get tamed by some people nearby.

External also did not work because you need to port forward your router for minecraft.
Internal worked because you do not need to port forward.
