and in case you see here before youtube, you could use redstone torches in stead of your pumpkins... since stuff can't spawn close to you and you always stay close to the pumpkins, all you need is a bit of light to see what you're doing... and they're very fast to put down or take away, are disposable in case you need to abandon ship and pretty easy to make... and I'm just guessing here but don't they slow down mob spawning? even though they don't STOP it, they slow it down...
also, you should start using iron pickaxes all the time... you have plenty of iron, and that would save on inventory space and dig time
as for diamond... I can't help but feel you're too high up most of the time, so maybe try and take the lower paths more? like if you have to choose between up, straight or down : block off up and straight and then make your way down
I just tried it... got a "map.tgz" file from the download then simply extracted, went in it in "\usr\java\lp\bin" and then copied "guudelp" folder to may saves folder in .minecraft... and that added it to my list
You'd think that the leaves would get in the way, but they don't. The trees just grow right trough them, destroying any that are in the way.
strange... I could swear the saplings with leaves over them never grew... maybe he changed it XD... or maybe it's only when leaves are far over?
also, he's better off separating the trees more so the leaves don't get broken... he needs saplings lol
In any case... the problem guude is having is one of 4 things I can think of :
1. inadequate lighting (up high or right over sapling)
2. lava which prevents trees from growing
3. too low underground for trees to grow
4. needs moar time!
hoping it isn't 3... cause that would be unfixable XD
for 1, he could put the lantern RIGHT beside the sapling if he wants
for 2, just remove lava and the lantern should be good enough
for 4, add more saplings like mentioned in the video... 4x saplings means more chances for one to grow quick
my guess is 4... but 2 is probably also a problem, cause even if it grows, if it immediately burns up, there won't be any wood lol
Hey just wanted to say that you're one of the best LPers out there, but i had one question. How do you get the save file for your awesome multiplayer world? I went to the website but all it gives me is some .tar file that i have no idea what to do with. Thanks in advance and have a diamond
You can't get the multiplayer world yet can you? or has guude already added it?
I'm guessing you get that .tar file and use an extract program (like with a .zip) to get the world info and then put that in your saves folder...

the tiles next to the sapling aren't important either... I made a tree-farm and each sapling only had 1 square beside it open, at 6 high (from the ground)... basically what I did was a 2 high tunnel with branching paths 2 deep where trees would grow... and then dug up from the trees 4 squares (for a total of 6). I also replaced all the walls with glass so I could see when I had trees grown.
the only thing is, I had torches all over the place and was barely under the surface (I think I was still over water level)... I'm thinking the problem is one of those 2 things
also, TPC, your pattern has 1 problem : when a tree grows, the leaves overshadow your other saplings and prevent them from growing

maybe your problem with the tree farm is the lighting up high over your trees? I know I tried with 4 trees in my 404 attempt, and they still didn't grow (I had a jack-o-lantern 2 blocks diagonal from all 4 like what you mentioned)... I DIDN'T have lighting up high though... so maybe just try floating your jack-o-lantern 3 high?
Also, maybe the lava is preventing it? like it knows growing it will just burn it so it doesn't grow?
Last thing it could be... maybe you can't grow them that far underground?
In other news... for the spleef on the arena... how were you thinking of making it? My guess would be glass walls (so the people at the top of the podiums can somewhat see inside), a glass roof for people to walk on and then another glass roof with water on top to block some of the sunlight so the skels and zombies don't burn in the arena... and we leave the spleef floor incomplete until we're ready to play with it

I say we make a point system for multiplayer 404 if we do it... like having the same point system, but everything is worth 1/4 and the "one shot" challenges can be done once per player, in stead of just once.
If we want to count points, we should try and get an action plan for the day of preparation XD gonna want quite a bit :
- 11 white and 1 other wool per player;
- 2 yellow and 2 red flowers per player;
- at least 1 cactus, reed, sapling and seed;
- at least 32 sand per player;
- those 13 pumpkins nebris found;
- a stack of 2 of wood should be enough;
- as much leather and clay as we can get.
With that, we can complete every challenge XD

as for progress on the server... minecart station is looking nice, and the arena just needs 1/2 a dark room to be completed, adding obsidian to reinforce the areas around the doors and all around the arena and then putting roofs and adding the seats
Love your LP, Guude. I started watching you while I was waiting for my account to register on minecraft.net, and now I can't stop. I thought of a few things while watching you:
1. I'm not sure if anyone ever pointed this out to you, but you can punch/ hit ghasts' (evil babies') fireballs back at them.
2. The trick with hitting mobs through doors is to hit them through the window holes.
3. I would love to see an increase in jsano related pranks.

the trick with the doors I think he knows... and it's not the window holes, it's that you have to be at the back of the door looking out (you can punch/shoot arrows through it from back to front)
and for the pranks... we ALL want to see more of that sh*t XD he's getting one ready (as he said recently) but he's not done getting ready yet so it'll have to wait a bit

update on the count lol with a base of 143.25... and + about 15 from off cam kills, the new value is :

+ gold block = 5 points
total is 15 * 1.5 is another 22.5 for a new total of 185 after adding your off cam kills

saw you put down the lupus and I was like "nooooooooo you won't get the 25 bonus!"
so yeah... point count! : start off with 117 - 15 (farm that doesn't count) and then add :
- 15 (bow and arrows)
- 7.5 (lupus blocks)
