posted a message on (1.4.2) Small Vanilla Survival, Whitelisted, Looking for 3-5 Players
In game, My Username is DarkSunLight.
I'd prefer not to announce my age across the internet.
Depending on your view of maturity, I'd most likely say that yes, I am mature. Usually more so that people twice my age, Which can be slightly concerning.
I was introduced to Minecraft in the last few stages of Alpha, Using my friends account until I bought my own sometime in early beta.
English is my first language as well as my own language. I tried to learn Japanese and Spanish but in the end I could only recite two or three phrases after months of trying so I gave up.
I have not ever consciously griefed besides taking down perhaps a random torch in the middle of a forest or something similar. However, Back in mid Beta, Being new to multiplayer, I was gullible enough to believe that a house made entirely of trees and obsidian was a naturally spawned building from some plug-in, As I was told by a random stranger on the server. I burnt it down, Though I did my best to rebuild it after I found out I had been tricked.
I plan on being as dedicated as I can, As I have no other server to play on that I find is to my liking because of variables such as large amounts of players or greifing.
As I said, I have no other favorable server, So this would be basically my only option. I like building, And so I feel it would be interesting to get immediate feedback off of things I am building as I build them. Having a community also greatly appeals to me, And having other people mining and exploring probably instills a slight sense of competition, Which is always fun.

I think that my greatest skill in minecraft is building. I'm not able to envision more massive builds, But I could surely do houses or a medium sized castle. Interior design may or may not be my best building ability, As I suppose it depends on the build; But I always feel relieved when I'm done creating a building and finally get to install various furniture and other interior-decorative items.
I don't really know what to tell about myself. Eh, Nice Personality? Probable lack of a God Complex? Surely not Sadistic in any way, shape or form? Does not annually attempt to shoot down geese with bottle rockets around Christmas? I mean, Sure, I could tell you those things about me, Which are all likely to be true, but I don't know what else to say. I suppose I'm done then. Thanks for reading my submission. Hope you whitelist me.

I enjoy building and showing my creations to other players, as well as the general survival and community aspects. Most servers I have joined have strict rules against many things that this server has rules against, But on most servers they have been poorly enforced and therefore many of those servers have been ruined to me by hackers and/or griefers.
The Server rules dictate that you must keep all structures within 200 blocks of spawn, or in any other case within at least 200 blocks of another building which is following those rules. Things such as randomly located pixel art and dirt structures not utilized as a portion of a creation must be taken down. Immaturity and unnecessary drama will not be tolerated, And honesty is approved of in the case of creepers or death of livestock/pets.

I took the liberty to reinterpret the rules slightly to mirror how I intend to follow them, For example though killing livestock/pets is not in the standard official rules, I plan to avoid doing so anyways.

    My IGN is DarkSunLight

I think I would fit in on the server because I am a decent builder.

Working with other players usually goes fine, Though I don't like building along side with others if they have tendencies to reconstruct, as they may rebuild something when I thought it was better in it's old state.

I'm quite good with keeping secrets, So in regards to not sharing server info, I can assure you it will not be a problem.

If you need examples of my building capabilities, Send me a message and I can give you screenshots of some of my builds.

posted a message on Power to the frames
I know Item Frames aren't even in the game yet without the use of a Snapshot, but as soon as I heard blocks partially stuck out of the frames an idea began forming in my head. Powered frames. Now, I know most people still reading are confused or preparing a hateful response in their head, but let me explain. Powered frames are just redstone powered Item Frames. They're the product of a frame touching a block that is powered or being touched by an active redstone item just like Lamps and Pistons. What this is for, is purely aesthetic. The frame itself will appear no different. However, If a Lamp, Dispenser, Control Block, or Noteblock is placed in the Frame, It becomes active. This way, multiple of each block can be within the space of a single block and still work, As long as there is a different wire connected to the back of each block they are on.

There's several uses I can think of:

-Making a lamp by placing dirt atop 3 fences stacked on top of each other, Then placing frames on each side. Then, removing the dirt and quickly placing a redstone torch on top of the fences. Then, by placing a pressure plate on top, It would make a visually pleasing lamp.

-A way to control adventure maps while taking up less space by placing 4 Control blocks within a 1 block space. However, This one may not work for obvious redstone reasons.

-Placing any of the mentioned blocks, So it still works however occupies less visual space.

    Thanks for reading.

Just a small idea I had. We can clone maps in 1.4, However I feel Books need this as well.

Few people on SMP sell or buy books, but this would be great for RP servers and simple to do.

posted a message on The Giant [Mod request]
In Minecraft, Giants are generally unimplemented into the normal game. The only way to spawn them is through hacking or modding. This, plus the fact the current Giants are just larger forms of zombies with extra health, makes them good candidates for an overhaul.
I have a concept in mind of a greater, more terrifying giant; something worth fighting.
I'll begin to describe them first through how they spawn. Their spawning is unique, based mostly on the player's render-distance at time of spawning. If the fog is set to either the Far or Normal distances, the giant will spawn at the edges of the rendered world. It will be invisible until it walks it's first few steps, making it look like it walked from a distant chunk and just came into visible view. Then, if spotted by the giant (See mention below), it will go on all fours as a gorilla might, and rush towards you at unimaginable speeds. Only once within mere chunks does it stand upright, walking casually at a speed even faster than you can run at. If the render distance is changed during it's rush towards you, it will keep going, just floating over non-rendered chunks while still doing the 'galloping' animation.
Another spawning pattern is when the render settings are on Small or Tiny. The Giant will spawn right beyond the fog, and before it spawns, a loud slow drum-like sound can be heard, which would be the sound of a Giant's footsteps, except distant and withered. The Giant will walk from beyond the fog and begin to attack. If the render distance is changed while the thudding is heard, the Giant will be placed at the normal spawning area as it would for Large or Normal Fog Settings, and the thudding would cease.
The next important point to describe is the appearance. I have included an image below, though it isn't well made as I was short on time. It shouldn't be used as an exact representation of the actual Giant, because it is missing a few features I have yet to describe.
Just as the picture shows, the Giant is similar to the Zombie Villagers featured in the recent snapshots. It's on the same scale as the old Giant, except with a much more detailed texture, one with high enough quality to fit it's size. It's build is muscular, and the limbs have joints. (The whole thing is one arm, the two pieces of the arm only act out of sync with one another in more complex animations.) Just like how Creepers have a second and even third layer above their normal texture, (Like when charged,) The Giant has a second texture layer. This is only used for the rags hanging from his body. Other visual things include a giant necklace, from which hang three items: A Diamond Pickaxe, Sword, and Axe. (Not part of the regular texture, actually on top of the skin.) These tools are dropped by the giant on death, with a 5% chance of being enchanted with a special Enchant not otherwise obtainable. (See Enchant Mention below.) The giants have a few randomized features, being able to spawn in the colors of Green, Gray, and Light blue. They may also have two horns protruding from their forehead, and have a cape which has a similar texture to the rags it wears.
With the visual aspects over with, I'll get on to Visibility.
Giants, if they don't manage to attack for long enough time, will wander off towards the border of rendered chunks and despawn at the edge. They also will not attack, or gallop towards you at all, if they don't see you. Invisibility Potions are a key item in this, as well as Sneaking, hiding, and using the Feather fall enchant to become much more silent.
If you sprint or jump a lot, or even walk around without sneaking, a giant's keen hearing will reveal you. If they are not facing you, your chances increase by at least 20%. Sneaking increases your chances by 10% and Featherfalling enchant by 5%, +5% more each level. Invisibility increases chances 100% visually, but you mustn't make lots of noise or they will hear, and run towards the noise. However, this can allow for effective traps by using Note Blocks and TNT. If they see you, but you are near your base and happen to make it, they will wait outside to destroy you unless you become quiet enough that they forget. If your house has any point that goes more than 10 blocks above any surrounding naturally generated blocks, such as a tower, they may hit the building and break a hole in it like an explosion, and try to attack you through the hole.
You're no doubt tired of reading, if you read all this, so I'll tell you it's almost over. One of the last things is it's health and damage. It has 400 Health, meaning around 200 Hearts. It does 5 damage by clawing at the player with it's long arms, but does as much as 15 damage by getting close enough to stomp down on the player.
The very last two things in the Special Enchant mentioned earlier, and it's effects on the area around it. The special enchantment rarely on the tools dropped by giants is called Ancient Victim. It allows use of secret magical techniques from the far past when giants were plentiful and victims many. The special pick-Ability is that it mines slightly faster, is much more durable, and with each block it mines it charges. Once charged, 10 levels are received by the player. The amount of blocks needed to charge are up for debate. The special sword-ability makes it much more durable, do slightly more damage, and have a 2% chance of doing a special attack in which the sword will leave the player's hand, flying around the player killing the 5 closest mobs within a 20x20x20 vicinity. All mobs killed this way will drop more xp than average. Once the sword has killed all the enemies it's assigned itself, it goes back into the player's hand. Then special axe-ability makes it much more durable, slightly faster, and the axe will detect if a tree is natural or built by hand by the player. If it's natural, it has a 10% chance to cut down the entire center/trunk of the tree and make the top of the tree fall like sand, the leaves degrading three times as fast after falling.
Now for the very last subject, it's effects on the surrounding world.
The Giant will also detect if a tree is natural, and if it is, the tree will be flattened into a single log when stepped on, the drops of the leaves still laying around though. If it walks over a cave or ravine that's roof is about 5 blocks thick, it will make it cave in. Those thin portions of roof will not be the only ones that fall, as once collapsing and roof height of up to 10 will fall with it. All glass or ice it steps on will break after around 2-5 seconds, and revealed redstone will be turned into item form. Tall grass will be flattened, and regular grass periodical turned to dirt as a way to mark the giant's path.
That's all. Of course, Giants would be unbelievably rare, But I'd like to think they'd be a wonderful addition to the game as a mod. If you actually read this, thank you. Hopefully you'll consider creating this concept and making it a reality, no matter how small chances are for this to become a real mod.

    Once again, thanks for reading.

    {Chapter 1 Start}

    Diamonds,
The very thought brings ease to any mind.
    Since the first days,
When Dungeons were used to house criminals instead of undead,
Diamonds have been the most valuable gem there is.
Even when massive quakes in the ground opened Ravines deep into the earth,
    And Emeralds were discovered,
Diamonds stayed atop the Stone Hierarchy.
So it's no surprise we searched so hard for so long for so many,
Sent cart after cart of Diamond to the surface,
Madly pursuing our desire to be dominant over everything else that live on our world.
We would not stand to be compared to the lower lifeforms.
The stupidest Human was miles ahead of any barbaric Pigman,
And the weakest Human could lift and throw any Villager.
We just didn't get that we were already dominant,
    With or without Diamonds.

    "General?"
"Yes, Officer?! Tell me what tales of riches the East did yield."
    "Sir, Well..."

The General could physically see the man struggling, unsure of what to say.

"Sir, There was nothing. The East was stripped clean."

It was now The General's turn to struggle. He could barely comprehend what he had just heard.

"No, But- They did studies! It was researched! It had been foretold..."
"The Scientists don't understand either. The area hadn't even been mined. It was just barren. And not just underground either."

The General was interested now. He felt robbed, but that would pass. There were other mines, other places, other Diamonds. He knew it was impossible for there to not be more.

"At first glimpse, As I was riding in with the Scientists and Miners on the second Cart Train, it looked as if it was a Mushroom Jungle. It was grey, and yet I saw no Mushrooms. Then I realized- It was stone."
"In my own campaigns, I have seen many patches of uncovered stone. It is simply erosion."
"Then Sir, With all due respect, do tell on how an entire Jungle eroded. Overnight, too, I might add."
"So when the first train arrived, it was fine, but then one morning after the second train had already left, they found the grass gone from under their feet?"
    "Exactly."
"Officer, Look into this. I believe foul play to be afoot."
    "Yes, Sir."

posted a message on Does anyone actually use Mooshrooms?
Since Mushroom Biomes are so rare, it's unlikely for people to legitimately have Mooshrooms from the Mushroom Biome that have been relocated to the players base as a food source. But, I think it's possible. Does anyone use Mooshrooms as their main Food source?

posted a message on Looking for Vanilla Whitelisted server
Every server I go onto, I spend a month dying over and over to 'Vultures' of sorts that prowl regularly around the Spawn, destroying everything with their stolen diamond gear.

Once I finally outsmart them and get outside, I begin to build several factions or bases, each which end up destroyed by a Vulture or two who decided to leave their average circuit. They take everything, And I start over. Often, I find my own faction members leaving the faction as soon as they get to the base, so they can steal everything. They often loose those stolen items to others.

Finally, I find an ocean or abandoned mineshaft, and build my base. After a while, I might invite a few friends to the server to create a faction that's trust-worthy. And after a long time without being raided or having someone attempt to raid us, we start finally building someone worth called a fortress.

At the end of it all, There's that one day I find myself alone, and then they come. Someone, from somewhere, doesn't matter who, comes and griefs it. They don't steal my stuff, just ruin everything else. They stay there, only just to kill me every time I try to get my stuff from my chests. A friend might finally log on, but it's too late. Yeah, they leave eventually, but there's no point after that.

I want to play on a server where there's never going to be much more than 10 people, with a community that won't grief or steal my stuff. People who I can actually trade items with, without being scammed. Like those servers a lot of major Minecraft Commentators will play on, the kind I've never seen much of anywhere on the forums because everyone just wants to expand.

Sorry for the Wordwall, It's just that this is the seventh time it's happened, and it's really frustrating.

Man, I said there is already a Gold Golem. Also, it's bad unlike the Gold Golem that DINGO created.

It's pretty much an Agressive Iron Golem.
Mine actually HAS a new purpose.
If all the Golems are gonna be the same with only slight differences, then what's the point?

posted a message on End-Game Water Usages and Gold Golems
I'm sure everyone knows that water cannot be used in the Nether.
This, though it makes sense, is a major inconvenience.
My idea includes a way for water to be used in the Nether.

The idea is that Water, ice, or any other form, cannot be taken through a Portal. When you arrive in the Nether, all buckets, blocks, bottles, and such are empty, their contents having dissolved. So the only way to get water to the Nether is:

(Concept A): Using the new Enderchests by placing water in one chest and gathering it from another in the End.

(Concept B): This one is more end-game. When you get the Enderdragon Egg, you can mine it. Then you use the recipe of a Bucket, with the Egg between the iron ingots. This would get you some form of Hollow Egg or Enderbucket, in which water would not dissolve.

Gold Golems would be made like this: (Because it was too hard to explain)

Unfortunately, I tried seven times to create a believable picture of what they'd look like, but failed. Half way through I actually forgot my concept of their appearance entirely.

Like all Golems, the Pumpkin would need to be placed last. This would make it slightly harder to build, but not by much.

What the Gold Golem does, is emit a loud noise when mobs are near it, despite all blocks (almost) that might be in the way. It also emits a redstone signal to all nearby blocks or redstone-related items.
I had the idea more fleshed out, but my computer had to be restarted :steve_rage:
