Some more issues I'm having with the mod: Whenever I crouch, if you have ears on they detach from your avatar and move around in the air with some odd bone fixtures and movements. Also, the "Wings" section doesn't allow you to see your wings if you have any designed. This was in the 1.8.9 download.
Question, what's the difference between the current 1.70 and the 1.8.9 versions? I notice they have different version numbers after the minecraft version they are for. Also any plans to add in muzzles?
Mostly just straight up ports. As for muzzles, after the rewrite hopefully
Thought about adding support with more player models? Changing body heights doesn't move the tail with it.
I used to support it back when I did a "hacky" rendering thing but I've switched over to the new layer rendering system to remove that hackiness. If MPM has an API, I can look into supporting it
This is certainly an exemplary mod, but for the 1.8.9 version, I have noticed an issue with the ears, they won't move with the head and are only frozen in one place, how might I repair this?
This should be fixed in the latest version, 1.8.9-1.5.2. I did a derp in an earlier version but I've tested it in that and it should work fine
Brilliant to see that this mod is still alive! However upon testing the 1.9 port, the "Ears" section in the Tails Editor is completely blank. Aside from that, everything works just fine
Huh interesting O_o
I can't seem to reproduce it, what other mods do you have? Could you upload your log to pastebin and send it over?
if any new tails are added i would love it in 1.7, new content is always appreciated.
1.7 will most likely not be updated I'm afraid.
It's 2 versions behind the current stable version that Forge supports. Plus I'm rewriting the model system to be more dynamic (ie you can add new tails by just dropping a zip folder in) and don't want to backport all the models
Hey Kihira, I'm just wondering. You still working on this mod at all? Seems rather inactive.
Yes I'm still alive! Uni was just kicking my butt for a few months (seriously, 40 hour weeks on top of a job x.x) and I've just got back from PAX East.
I'll try to get a port to 1.9 out in the next few days as well as some bug fixes for older versions (going to try a more robust syncing solution).
After that I'll begin the next main version with better animations etc. That will take longer and I have other projects I'm working on as well so no promises on date at this point.
Hi! I just got a modpack downloaded with the Tails mod installed. However I'm having one problem. Exporting the skin with the new wings and tail, it only seems to save the color and the type of tail/wing, but not the texture. So when pressing load from skin, it's using angel wings instead of dragon wings for texture - only loading the Large Wings option. Is that meant to happen, and if not, could it be fixed to save the texture to the skin aswell? It just looks weird to have other people see my dragon skin with angel wings. xD Thanks in advance.
Hmm that might have been a derp on my part, I should be saving them but it could be reading it wrong.
For now, just use the default saving system (exporting to skin is optional)
On my server, suddently player models was vanish for themself (only other models was visible) and players was unable to edit their model until they delete their Tails.cfg. I didn't updated Tails at all or changed the ip of the server, so what is wrong?
We're using the latest version for 1.7.10.
Edit : After some tests, the mod is not working anymore, only own models are visible. Mod is still installed on both clients and server, but no one can see the other models. In short, the mod suddently ceassed to work on our server.
Edit 2 : We don't see our models even if our models are uploaded as skin on minecraft.net and restarted the game.
Edit 3 : I was able to change my model and others see it but one of my players cannot change it, when he selects for example a tail, the tail does not appear as preview on his skin and the selected tail turns gray in the selection menu at the left.
Interesting, I've had some issues reported with syncing Tails that I've never been able to reproduce but the gray texture means that the texture creation system broke somehow...
Did you download the official version from CurseForge? Is your server running in online mode?
I've said it before but I'll repeat, the only new things in the 1.7.10 version will be new tails/ears/etc. No new features. This is because I'm redesigning Tails for 1.8.9 that will have customisable animations (you can even seriously write your own) and in the future, you can "paint" your tail. I have so many plans for the future, it's just time (and a little bit of experience with some stuff) I'm lacking. Uni is starting up again next week, I have another exam this Friday. So right now, it's all on hold.
1.7.10 is like the main modding version. 1.8 doesn't have enough updated for it and 1.6.4 is too early and stuff.
I would disagree. I've talked to a lot of mod developers, most are working on 1.8.9 versions of their mods. I feel like in a few months, that will be the main version people will be playing on.
So does this mean we're not getting anymore updates for 1.7.10? Because I didn't plan on updating to 1.8 until every major mod has and that'll probably take 2 years.
Debating between the two. If I add new tails/parts, it will be for both 1.8 and 1.7.10 at the same time as no code changed there so it's incredibly easy to do.
If I do an overhaul, I'm honestly not sure. An overhaul will probably involve UI rework, ability to have custom tails etc.

Tails 1.8.0 for Minecraft 1.10.2 is now released!
I kinda neglected this thread a bit and there has been quite a few updates, check CurseForge.
This update adds the following:

That should be fixed in 1.5.2
Should be released now!
Mostly just straight up ports. As for muzzles, after the rewrite hopefully

What Minecraft version? What Tails version? Do you have a crash log?

... that is something I completely forgot about!
Could you relink me them? And what MC version would you prefer it for? I probably don't have time to do it today but I can hopefully Sunday

Tails updated for Minecraft 1.8.9 and 1.9!
The 1.8.9 update fixes some rendering issues I missed from the first version.
As for the 1.9 update, just a straight port

I had an idea I wanted to go with it, then I had college and university. Right now, I can't say I'll work on it in the near the future.
Yeah, I've had reports of this happening before but can't replicate it.
Is the server in online mode?

So turns out I stopped getting emails when people replied to this thread so I must apologise for ignoring it.
I've made a decision to do one last 1.7.10 update then focus on Tails 2 which will be more Minecraft 1.8.8.
Tails 2 will have customisable animations (hopefully) and adding new tails will be as simple as dropping a file into a folder.
I'm also considering a central server that stores your tails information so it's always the same, even across different modpacks etc
This should also fix the intermittent issue where sometimes tails can randomly disappear.
It will be a massive undertaking though so I have no idea how long it'll take me to release it.
Those are awesome thank you! I'll probably put them into the final 1.7.10 release.
