    I can fix it by restarting my computer but that just takes too long and is a waste of time, any help would greatly be apreciated!
    Thanks.

    Strangely enough this seems to be a problem with the flash plugin (though I've only noticed it in chrome). If I close my browser and then start Minecraft it seem's to fix itself. Flash will still work fine, but only if it starts after Minecraft. If your browser is set to stay loaded after you close it then the problem could persist until you reboot (in chrome it happens it you tell it to 'Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed' in the 'Settings->Under the Hood' section).

    Yea, I can log in using other computers. I have never successfully ran minecraft here, so problem is here from the beginning.
    Can you explain what does "ssp and smp" mean and how can i check it?
    I have 6gb of memory, 2x2gb and 2x1gb, however, one of them is not working dual channel.
    As I said, i tried running both 64 and 32 bit versions of Java.
    Oh, this is pretty weird. However, system claims that he is Windows Vista (64-bits) in Commander Panel and Properties.
    I'll try changing drives soon.

    I've encounter this bug as well, but I seem to have been able to reliably reproduce it. As far as I can tell it's a problem caused by an incompatibility with flash and Minecraft. However, it may occur with other programs that use the graphics cards for some kind of acceleration (like flash does).

    For me, this problem only occurs when flash loads before Minecraft. If I start my browser and watch a YouTube video then try to run Minecraft I get this error, but if I load Minecraft first then start a YouTube video everything works fine. Simply making sure your browser is closed might fix the problem for you, but if you have any other program (video editing/recording software maybe?) running in the background that uses GPU acceleration then you may have to stop it as well and only start it after Minecraft. Also, the next version of Minecraft is updating the lwjgl library to a newer version which could fix the problem, but 1.3 isn't likely to be out for a while.

    Quote from Journeys

    Anyway, during Nvidia Auto-Drivers stuff it mentioned that my system is 64-bit.. So I have no idea why dxdiag says different way. That's even funnier, because Vista Auto Updater still claims, that my previous driver was the newest one. Does anyway have a different idea?
    Hope that someone owns

    Dxdiag doesn't say your running a 32-bit system, Minecraft does. However, if your using 32-bit java then it should say that. I've only been running 64-bit java, so if my solution doesn't help then you may want try moving back to a 64-bit java, but I don't think that would make a difference.

    Also,
    - SSP = Survival Single Player
    - SMP = Survival Multi-Player
    If the problem is happening when you first run Minecraft like it was for me that SSP vs SMP doesn't matter.

    I love this mod, but my brother thinks the other fences, like Iron, Gold and Diamond are "Pointless".
    I, of coarse, disagree with him. They may be PHYSICALLY pointless, but aesthetically they win.

    It depends if you prefer creative-like play or survival. In survival they are as pointless as iron, gold, and diamond blocks.

    Minecraft is now 1.1

    How can i get minecraft 1.0 ?(so i donĀ“t have to wait again for the mods updates)

    I'll likely update 4.0 to 1.1 before release. The changes between MC 1.0 and 1.1 are minor and the update should be quick.

    Quote from Coupon22

    Updating to 1.1 probably. Simply because this modder seems to have been gone.

    I'm still here, but I've been very busy with work and school. If you want to release a 1.1 you can, I'll just ask you to remove it when I release BetterBlocks 4, and people need to understand that I will not support it.

    you can

    I think he was asking for the ability for slabs to be placed vertically on walls. This will be in 4.1 (not 4.0), but will require an additional 4 block IDs and be disabled by default.

    I just had an idea for 4.1+

    Glowing blocks. Simply a block + glowstone block = block that emits 15 levels of light

    opt in config option only >.>

    Why add an option? The point of the 4.0 rewrite was to make simple changes not only easier for me, but to allow users to add blocks themselves if they want to. After release just add the following to a text file and save it as .minecraft/config/BetterBlocks/EnlightenedStone.def...

    Config {type=boolean name=enabled default=true
    : set to true to add sub-types to glowglass that look like normal blocks, while emitting 15 light }

    BlockSimple {id=&lightgem light=15 replace=true enabled=?enabled
    :
        Recipe {X=&yellowDust B=$basedOn : -X-;XBX;-X- }
        Sub {type=0 basedOn=&lightgem}
        Sub {type=1 basedOn=&stone              : enlightened stone }
        Sub {type=2 basedOn=&stonebrick         : enlightened cobblestone }
        Sub {type=3 basedOn=&sandStone          : enlightened sandstone }
        Sub {type=4 basedOn=&brick              : enlightened brick }
        Sub {type=5 basedOn=&stoneMoss          : enlightened moss stone }
        Sub {type=6 basedOn=&stonebricksmooth.0 : enlightened stone brick }
        Sub {type=7 basedOn=&stonebricksmooth.1 : enlightened stone brick }
        Sub {type=8 basedOn=&stonebricksmooth.2 : enlightened stone brick }
    }

    I'll give more details about what this means after the 4.0 release, and please keep in mind that while I will explain what this means I will NOT take bug reports from people that have modified BetterBlocks using this method.

    Not speaking for kalin but....

    In my opinion this is an issue for flowerchild. Though i agree with him in principal for the most part it has become a "wedge issue". With btb he has shown that he is willing to work with some elements of forge to suit his mod purposes. When better blocks is complete you should go to fc to see if he is willing to allow a merge. Lets face it buildcraft is compatible with forge the issue remains btw. Again i can see where he's coming from but really until the modding api is out, his forced incompatibilities should be addressed to him or eloram on their threads. Afterall this issue begins and starts with them. Others should not be dragged into it considering how divisive it has become.

    Then again whatever kalin decides is fine by me. Look forward to the update!

    Bud

    Forge tweaks several vanilla blocks to add support for features. Since I replace vanilla blocks with modified versions I either to be fully compatible with forge, or very incompatible with it. Since I am a big RedPower2 and IC2 user being incompatible with forge would mean I would have to chose between them and BetterBlocks, which is simply not acceptable to me.

    Quote from Crawfish

    Any news on progress?

    I haven't had much time yet. The new configuration system still has some bugs that I need to work out, and I still haven't done much SMP testing yet. The release date really depends on how busy I am at any given time, which isn't fully predictable.

    I don't think I'm going to make it. I've got most of the functionality done, but I'll start getting busy again after the 2nd. So it will probably be delayed a week or two. Most of what's left to do is bug fixing and testing, but since a lot was rewritten and changed I have a lot to test.

    Also, are you going to be adding the gates in 4.2. Like different gate types. I am really missing a netherbrick gate.

    Its annoying the heck out of me that the netherbrick gate isn't a vanilla block. Having to use normal wooden gates with nether brick fence looks horrible.

    If your motivated, maybe you could add netherbrick gates in 4.0? just for me :smile.gif:

    As for the recipe >.> I dunno sticks still?

    Gate, door, and hatch sub-types should be back in 4.1. The recipe for gates I'm thinking of is...
    :: :: ::
    :|: :|: :|: -> Gate
    :|: :: :|:
    :|: -> any fence material (sticks, iron ingots, stone, etc)

    Remember I change fences to...
    :: :: ::
    :|: :|: :|: -> Fence
    :: :|: ::
    :|: -> any fence material (sticks, iron ingots, stone, etc)

    Can you make those pistons customizable to how many blocks a player wants to push? Up to a limit of 10 should be fine.

    No they would have to become Tile Entities and therefor become unmovable. I plan to make it so using a gold ingot (instead of iron) pushes 2 blocks, while a diamond pushes 4.

    Pistons don't extend far enough. Please don't remove the bridge blocks.Larger pit traps, portcullises and bridges can be made with this awesome device.

    Bridge Blocks aren't being permanently removed, I plan to add a much better implementation later (after 4.2), mainly so that they will visually extrude blocks.

    I also plan to add pistons that can extend 2 and 4 blocks, and hopefully make extended pistons movable (once again after 4.2).

    Allow worlds built before 4.0 to maintain current blocks, without having to replace them.

    I hope so! Otherwise it would take ages to replaces 250+ buildings of my city :rolleyes:
    But it wont be a disaster, as long as the update is stable enough.

    You will have to replace some fences and stairs because MC didn't add them using the same sub-types that I did, but I am keeping this to a minimum while coding.

    Also you will need to copy the block IDs to the new configuration file, but if some of the IDs you were using are now used by Minecraft itself then you will probably need to use a tool...

    Quote from TheEnlightened

    nah, you can use midas

    Just make sure that when you install the new version, ids are different then before, they swap ids. Simple enough. Then you can swap them back to the default, if you'd like.

    This will work to change the IDs (even if Minecraft now uses one of BetterBlocks block IDs). However since I've never used mIDas, does it support the changing the block metadata properly? Even if it does my stairs will be very tricky for it to change as the lower 2-bits are the facing direction and the higher 2-bits are the material sub-type.

    Quote from Crawfish

    Hey, Kalin_Magus, you may have been thinking of this already, but I though it might be cool to see Glass Fences. For animal farms and stuff. :tongue.gif:

    I do plan to add glass things (stairs, slabs, fences, etc) eventually, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so it wouldn't be a quick task as I would need to implement a custom face (and partial face) culling method.

    Quote from EldingArtist

    Kalin, Betterblocks has always seemed to be a fix to the way Minecraft blocks work. Like a repair to shortsightedness. The behaviours you added to stairs and ladders seemed like they should have been there all along, and the huge ammounts of new slabs and stairs and fences really were amazing.... you added fencegates long before Notch got the guts to, and you did better than he did (in my opinion). But in the meantime, a new blocktype has been added that you might not have planned on "fixing" as you did fences, slabs, and stairs. Panes. So far we have ironbars and windowpanes, but that style of "block" seems like it could really use an expansion of sorts. Plank panes would work very nicely for many structures, allowing for several new styles of structures. Ice panes would be interesting as well, but in particular, thin plank walls seem like they would fit nicel. Then mid-wall doors could be added as well to suit the new sheet-wall buildings. Behaviourally, it seems appropriate to perhaps allow this mod to change the attachment behaviour for glass panes as well to allow glass pane floor sand glass pane ceilings. Currently, blocks in place to make those structures end up being vertical honeycombs instead. Just a suggestion, but it seems like it would fit the nature of this mod quite well.

    I actually like notches gates more than mine, but I do with they worked with redstone and had more sub-types.

    While I do plan to make panes have proper horizontal behavior, implementing opaque panes could be difficult. The lighting engine would have massive problems with this, any way I did it would cause lighting bugs.

    I do plan to try making doors and gates animate like the current chests do. Since this would require making them a tile entity I could effectively add an infinite number of door sub-types for free.

    Quote from ShyGuyDu83

    Awesome mod :smile.gif:

    Waiting for the update, but don't worry it's your mod, if it isn't released on January 2 it doesn't matter.

    And a suggestion : could you please add white and dark brown planks that would be crafted from birch and pine logs ? With them we could use the same recipes than with the light brown ones, it would be purely decorative. I think it should be possible to don't add new blocks. Maybe it was already done in over mods, but like this we could have a mod that adds everything we want :smile.gif:

    Thanks to have read this post, and excuse my English but I'm French.

    No it wouldn't need new blocks, I would add them to the existing plank blocks this is the advantage of ignoring the unofficial mod rule of never touching vanilla blocks.

    I have always avoided adding custom textures because I switch texture packs so often and get annoyed by the visual mismatch, but I plan to add the ability to HSL shift existing textures so I would just make the planks darker (for pine) or lighter (birch) and they would support all texture packs instantly.

    I think I might start playing Minecraft again (build craft got me interested) but I can't do it without this mod.
    Your mod is taken for granted too much. If it isn't too much trouble, PM me when it's updated.

    Version 4.0 is likely to actually lose features compared to 3.7, while 4.1 should have everything except the bridge block. 4.2 is where I will start adding new blocks again.

    Forge is coded so you only ever notice tile entities when your loading chunks. Once they are loaded, they are added to the cache and not reloaded unless you leave a chunk.

    If you were to toy with thousands of redpower's subblocks you wouldn't notice a drop of lag until you have to reload the chunk.

    You know their is a great deal of assumption on my part here. I think I'll run some benchmark to see how bad it actually is, but not anytime soon.

    Quote from TheEnlightened

    You are still planning on using for for other hooks though correct?

    Yep. In fact I'm thinking of going directly to 4.0. The number of hooks forge adds to blocks I replace is proving as time-consuming as the rewrite would be given the mess of the 3.x code.

    I believe your thinking of the forge optimization related to using different textures for block rendering, though it's possible I missed something.

    I assume you commenting on my avoidance of Tile Entities. Forge does not improve their performance, but does fix a bug related to them in SMP. I avoid them because I run Minecraft on an old 1.8 GHz Athlon 64, and wish too avoid the minimal performance cost when using to many of them in a world.
