posted a message on Creating an egg structure?

I'm looking to create a structure in the shape of an egg.

Not having a lot of luck, it always comes out a bit too angular. Obviously making it absolutely round isn't possible, but I can't seem to give it that illusion of roundness that you can get with certain circle/oval arrangements.

    Any ideas?

You don't need redstone torches with redpower for anything, apart from cheaper signals (you can use NOT gate for it).
The design that I came up with uses no latches. At the moment, Imgur seems to be down for me, so no pics now. I will post the images for the design when it is up. For now, this is the description of how to make the lock.

First put the pressure plates 1 block away from the door. Otherwise there is no way to lock it (unless there is a door which opens on no signal, and closes on being provided with a signal).

Then,I connect the pressure plates on either sides (but not the door, so you will have to bring it down; I used jacketed wire). Now connect the wire to a not gate.

I put two levers for locks on both sides of the door (again 1 block away from them) and brought the wires down as well (make sure that this wire doesn't connect to any block touching the doors. It can open them as well). I connected them to a XOR gate. This will allow me to trigger the lock from both sides of the door.

Not I connect the output of the XOR gate (lock) to the output of the NOT gate (from the pressure plates part). I now connect this common wire to another not gate. This goes and connects to the door.

This works as: if the output of the XOR gate is ON, it will turn the wire connected to the first NOT gate ON. The second gate will turn this signal off, and now there is no way you can change the state of the last output to on. Regardless of the signal before the first NOT gate.
If the output of the XOR gate is OFF, the signal from the NOT gate will decide the output of the second NOT gate. (and two NOTs will give you the original signal).

This is it. If the two levers on either side of the door are in different states, the door will be locked. Otherwise unlocked.

That wen tover my head, it's too hard to understand without pictures. :S

    This is what I made:

There's a lever above that controls if the pressure plates work.

Not sure if it's compact as it could be though.
Of course, if someone just dropped their own switch, the door could still be opened, so I'll probably need to move ahead to using frames or pistons to make it any more player-proof.

So here's what I'm trying to do:
I have a simple pair of double doors with two pressure plates on either side. There's red alloy wire running beneath all six blocks, so walking on either side momentarily opens the door.
I like that, but I'd like to add some way for me to hit a switch that will "lock" the door so standing on the pressure plates will no longer open them.

Ideas? I imagine this will involve either latches or redstone torches, but I'm not sure how it would go together . . .

It is really saddening for me to see this. Just... Complete disregard of one of the most important aspects of writing. Even with about 7 people trying to help (Admittedly a few of them were a bit rude, but still) him, and he just ignores all criticism.
I can't even understand him half the time.

I'm not familiar with their work.
It's always sad to see an author refusing legitimate and correctly-worded criticism though.
Reminds me that I should probably go check up on my own author's latest chapter progress.

Define "true bronies", please. I'm actually curious what people consider a "true brony" to be.
(No, this isn't meant to be an angry thing. I am actually interested.)

I'm going to paste my response in a thread on another MLP forum I frequent, it was in response to a member saying they felt a need to "quit" the fandom because of how bad certain parts had become.

On the matter of the fandom going down a bad path:

There is a symbol known as a swastika, I think most of you are familiar with it:

It is a symbol used in Hinduism and Buddhism, and has existed since the time of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, at the very least it is over three-thousand years old.
The word means, "to be good."

The Nazi's display of it did in no way validate or connect their efforts with anything resembling goodness, but because of their use of it, the symbol is banned in Germany, and held in contempt in other parts of the world.
Does this mean that people who use the symbol in a proper manner should feel a need to discard it as well? Toss away a symbol and tradition over three-thousand years old in some of the largest and most accepting religions in the world because of others' actions?
    No, of course not.

Guilt by association is inconsistent with the legal norms of any truly civilized society, and is also a proven logical fallacy. It is the province of uncultured, primitive people.

It is of the essence of the institutions of liberty that it be recognized that guilt is personal and cannot be attributed to the holding of opinions or to mere intent in the absence of overt acts.
    -Charles Evan Hughes

"Bronies" who cross certain lines are no longer true "bronies." Regardless of what they call themselves.
A rose by any other name is just as sweet.
Garbage by any other name is just as rotten.
The word does not define the thing.

So further, lolGraped's cessation of association (as in the OP of the parent thread) does not keep him from being a "brony." He would actually have to stop liking ponies and the show for that to happen.
Further yet, the movement of the brony fandom down a bad path cannot truly happen IMO, because once they go far enough, those who generate a poor reception of the fandom are not true bronies, and thus we should feel no connection to them.

While I wouldn't instantly declare anyone who works with some of the darker aspects of the fandom as not being a true brony, they do need to have an appreication for the spirit of the show--I remember when that was more prevalent.

R34 and horrific fan creations aren't really the identifying marks of someone who's distancing or distanced from bronies, that determination can only truly be made upon their attitude and perceptions.
Those who act like bronies, interested and respectful of the show (and respect of it is important because as Charlotte Elizabeth Aisse put it so well: "I could never love where I could not respect.") are bronies. Those who do not act that way, are not bronies.
The categories aren't final. In theory you could move back and forth between these two camps. These are also broad generalizations of course, there are whole degrees of bronies and faux-bronies you could list here, but that would be more than a post.

Sex and sexuality are part of human nature, and that we would apply them to MLP is in no way strange (though some things are still unacceptable in that area IMO, such as porn of the younger cast), there's a reason R34 developed in the first place.

It's somewhat ironic really; it's speculated that a lot of the original fanbase resulted from a counter-culture reaction to traditional masculinity. We now seem to be suffering from a counter-culture reaction to the sweetness of the show--a group that delights in creating obscenity from MLP material.

It's really a matter of intent and purpose when it comes to the grimdark section, particularly in fiction and the like. There are works like "The Sun is Tired," that intentionally or not is a fairly useless piece because it exists solely for the sake of shocking people (like Cupcakes). But then there are works liek Fallout: Equestria, which, despite how dark it becomes, has a purpose and message to get across.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't mind any of the R34 or the horrific material if it wasn't so prevalent and it didn't seem connected to a rise in negative attitude across the fandom.

I visit sites that display the original spirit of the show.
It's still there, some people are just being distracted from it.

I keep hearing about how awful "the fandom" has become, and it's sad to see true bronies distancing themselves from MLP because of guilt of association (which is BS).

But if they're really large, then doesn't it kind of become a pain to find and breed them together rapidly?
With this method, I can basically just stand on top and spam wheat onto them without even paying attention.

    Hmmm, so I built this:

I had to break the bottom ladder or the animals would just get pushed up them.
Biggest issue I seem to have here is that the animals seem to keep somehow phasing through into other pens for a little while before snapping back.
Do the pits need to have a certain block distance between them before that stops, or is it just a result of the animals being squeezed into such a small space?

So do you just push them down some descending blocks to get them in?

Anyone know any builds for livestock enclosures that keeps the livestock from trying to shove themselves out, like they do with gates, and that doesn't prompt them to spend all day jumping at the walls?
The first is the more important bit, but the second part would be nice as well.

Both my build and Consequence6's link put the blocks back.

Your build only puts back a single block.

    Consequences' linked build works.

Does it need to be able to put the blocks back?

    Yes.

What I need is for the sticky pistons to:
    Pull down the bottom block
    Have that block pushed aside
Have another piston push the first piston up so it can grab the next block, and then pull that one down (it can stay as part of the floor)
And then be able to do all of that in reverse, which I'm not even sure is possible, unless sticky pistons don't attach until they're activated, then I could just pull the extended sticky piston back down before retracting it again.

I'm looking for the/a redstone design that uses sticky pistons to pull down two blocks from beneath with a single lever.

    So from this:
    :Logs: :Logs^: :Logs:
    :Logs: :Logs^: :Logs:

    To this:
    :Logs: :: :Logs:
    :Logs: :: :Logs:
    :: :Logs^:
    :: :Logs^:

Except, you know, aligned properly, and I plan to be moving iron blocks. :P

I'm new to redstone circuitry, so I'm not sure which circuit(s) are needed to pull down the block, move it out of the way, and then send the sticky piston back up to grab the next one.
