posted a message on Can't make a solid color map.

I'm working on this project and one part has me making a solid black map by building a 128x128 square of black wool and having my map cover that area. I built the square but my map refuses to work properly and only a portion of it is black rather than the whole thing like it's supposed to be. I've tried using the map while in the center, on the edges, and at the corners but none of those methods worked. Are maps just not working properly anymore or am I doing something wrong and I just don't know it? Thanks in advance.

posted a message on How should I make arched skylights?

I'm currently in the process of building a nightclub and I wanted to add these skylights to the roof since I felt that they would fit in nicely. However, I want to build them in a sort of arch rather than just replacing chunks of the ceiling with glass. Can someone give me an idea of how I should do this? For a real life example, check the picture:

    Thanks in advance!

One time when i was on a local mcpe server, i was just walking around, then a girl came up to me and started punching me. I ignored it, but she kept punching me. So i fought back. And geuss what i got kicked for? I got kicked for hitting a girl. We were fighting infront of the owner and she clearly hit me first.

That really irritates to no end me since it's just blatant discrimination/sexism which is totally unacceptable. Hopefully the owner will come to his/her senses or the server will shut down since stuff like that is just not right.

Wait, how did they know that you sneezed if you were playing a video game?

Teamspeak/Skype/any other voice chat program was being used I guess.

Once I got banned from a server for walking in spawn......... They unbanned me I think.....

Can someone enlighten me on how to avoid walking in spawn? Do they ban everybody who logs on for the first time? That'd be a nice introduction.

"Welcome to our server. You're banned!"

posted a message on UPDATED PIX: Gryphons (Balanced flight for Survival mode)

I love this idea. A way to fly around at least somewhat on a giant furry/feathery beast would give my life meaning.

I do think that maybe there ought to be varying skins, though. Not all gryphons resemble bald eagles. Some are black, some are white, some are gray, some are golden-brown. And I'm tired of getting all my dogs and cats mixed up even with three different skins (for cats) and dyeable collars (for dogs) and name tags. If I were, on the off chance, able to get more than one I would like some other way to tell them apart. Plus, in servers, the more skin variations there are the easier it would be to know whose gryphon is whose.

It would be kind of neat if gryphons had their own AI that let them go off and do things on their own, maybe fly down to a nearby lake or shoreline and catch a fish or two or preen themselves, maybe fly around and dive-bomb nearby mobs or other players to just startle them a bit, send them running. (This would actually be a really neat way to spot an adult gryphon, rare as they are, and maybe pinpoint a general location of where its nest might be since I don't see why it would stray too far from the nest.) It wouldn't get too far away from the player, but it wouldn't just sit around or stay on its perch all day either, or only move when the player moves. Maybe it could be possible to craft a whistle or something to call it back when you need it if it's out and about doing its thing.

That's the thing about tamable mobs, their AI needs to be expanded. Dogs and cats don't just sit around or move (pretty much) only when you move, they run around and chase things and maybe leave your line of sight for a bit but they (almost) always come back again. Minecraft mobs do...not very much of anything. Kind of makes everything seem a bit...dead. If gryphons were added into vanilla Minecraft, showcasing them would be a good way to bring attention to those changes to the AI.

Maybe it would be possible to add armor to a gryphon, if they might ever be expanded to also participate in combat, but probably only against hostile mobs in the area or mobs or players that attack you. If they were ever to be expanded in such a manner, I could imagine them having high Health and Attack stats. No better way to deter a griefer on a server if he knows you have a gryphon lying in wait.

Plus, gryphons in armor are my life.

    But that's just me.

    Full support.

I completely agree with this post. Griffons should totally have multiple skins and putting armor on them would be awesome (particularly for combat) I'm a bit worried that having them automatically going off and doing their own thing might put them at risk of getting killed by a hostile mob/player. Maybe it could be that they do fly off but won't go more than x amount of blocks away from your base (assuming that you built a nest there or something) without having you with them. I definitely agree that AI for dogs and cats needs to be better and adding griffons could give the developers more motivation to do something about it.

posted a message on Should I give up on Minecraft?

I'm going to be blunt, I'm starting to hate this game. Survival mode bores me as I have no real interest in it and I suck at building. I have zero creativity and I hate practically everything that I build. If I ever like a creation of mine, I always find some problem with it that I can't fix and it just makes me mad. I'm really feeling like this game was a waste of my time and money since the only good that it's done is allow me to make a few decent friends (most of whom I don't talk to outside of the server). My question is should I just give up on this game and throw it straight into the trash can on my laptop or should I try to find a way to enjoy it? I'm running really low on patience with this game as nothing I do ever seems to work. The only decent thing that I've made is a treehouse but that's about all that I've accomplished save for a couple of skins. I'm not saying that Minecraft is a bad game or anything but the more that I play it, the more that I come to realize how bad I am at it. If anyone can help me find a way to enjoy this game, I'd appreciate it as I want to have fun with it but nothing I do ever seems to work out. Thanks in advance!

My courtroom isn't all that big. At the moment, I'm just build spaces for jury, prosecutor, defendant, etc. and will probably build the courthouse around it once I have everything. Your design looks good but I think that it's a bit too wide for what I need. Also, I'm trying to add a witness stand and a space for the courtroom clerk on either side in case that helps. Sorry for not mentioning that sooner but it just slipped my mind.

posted a message on How to build a Judge's bench?

One project that I'm trying to work on is a courtroom and I've built a lot of the important stuff but I just can't think of a good way to build a bench for the Judge without making it needlessly complicated. If anyone can give me ideas on how to make a simple but appealing Judge's bench, I'd be very grateful as I feel that this could be a good project but this component is just driving me crazy. Thanks in advance!

posted a message on How big of a dome will I need for a two story farm?

I'm basically dividing both floors into four sections with a cross of water separating each section. I'll definitely take your ideas into account and just see what works without being too massive.

posted a message on How big of a dome will I need for a two story farm?

Back on an old survival server, my friend had this amazing treehouse that he and I lived in. One of its features was this two story farm that was built inside of a glass dome. The lower story had wheat, carrots, and potatoes while the upper story had sugar cane. There was also a three block high ladder that let us climb up and down between the two floors. Unfortunately, the world got reset and the server also shut down so that treehouse is gone. On a new server, I've been attempting to rebuild the treehouse and I've done a pretty good job (especially since I have no screenshots/videos of it and am basing it strictly off of memory) and my next goal is to make the farm. However, I have no clue how big to make it especially since I need to have two floors instead of just one. I know of a website that has a sphere/dome generator that will give me step by step blueprints to build a dome of any size up to thirty two blocks. I'm not sure how big it is but I know for a fact that it is an odd number. My question is what is the minimum size dome that I would need in order to have enough space for both of these floors? By size, I mean the diameter of the dome. This treehouse is meant to be for myself only so it doesn't have to be crazy big. Thanks in advance!

posted a message on Thoughts On Kids playing minecraft

For the most part, I'm cool with anyone of any age playing Minecraft. As long as they're nice, follow the rules of the server, and don't go out of their way to annoy me and/or others, I don't care if they're eight, eighteen, or eighty. They're totally cool in my book. On the other hand, if they're totally rude, break a lot of rules, and constantly try to annoy others, I want nothing to do with them. Age simply is not an excuse for flat out rude behavior. If someone just isn't old or mature enough to know what's nice and what isn't, they probably aren't ready for online gaming. If someone knowingly breaks the rules, they should be punished, regardless of their age. Saying that they don't know better because they're just kids is not an excuse when the rules are clearly stated (and most of the fair servers tend to give out at least one warning before punishment so it's clear that they are aware of the rules). If you can be nice and follow the rules, I have no issues with you whatsoever. If you're going to go out of your way just to be rude, annoying, and break the rules, you deserve whatever sort of punishments you get.
