The game is not even close to "dead" if you believe the stats that Mojang claims (122+ million sales and 55+ million active users per month, the latter up 37.5% over 9 months) - but the forums most certainly are - and have been dying for 5 years, even as the number of copies sold (including the supposedly even deader Java edition, which just hit 27 million sales) and players has increased by around 6-fold (and oddly enough, the forums continue to gain members at the very healthy rate of a quarter million+ per year - what do all of those members do? Or maybe they are just spam accounts).
I may soon stop posting as well, not because of the Twitch merge (seriously, it only took like a minute to create and merge an account) but because these forums have become incredibly boring - the only problem is there are no other forums like these that I know of and places like Reddit or chat sites/apps like Discord (or the forum chat, which I've never used) do not have the same attraction as a forum.
The game is dead in the sense that barely any mature people, not including the have-to-be-child-friendly Youtubers, play it. It's over run by children who scream whenever something doesn't go their way, turning away any of the mature players. It may not be dead to Mojang or kids, but it's dead to the long-term fans who've been here since the beginning. (Not really counting me really, as I came at like 1.6.4, or a little earlier.)

Just figured out that Twitch is doing this with Gamepedia.
Guess they're forcing this upon all websites they own, just to get more users. :/ -

Nearly 200 comments of complaints, and the Dev. has stopped replying.
Hope they see that no one wants this. -

The majority of members have already merged their accounts since we introduced the merge process earlier in the year, it's only a small minority of members who continue to log in with their old account details -- this process will require the remaining small number of members go through the merge process. Members who do not merge before October 23rd will not lose access to their accounts, they will simply need to merge when they next visit the forum. There is no risk to anyone losing access to their account.
I don't think this is the minority here. Just because people did it doesn't mean it's because they like the idea. Just look, you have this news thread with a unanimous 1-star rating and nearly 107 comments saying that people do NOT support this unnecessary, stupid merging thing. Even people on this thread who said their going merge also said they are only doing it because they're FORCED to in order to keep their modding threads from being dead. It seems to me like the people who merged either left the forums a long time ago, or just don't support this mandatory merging. If they did support it, they'd see this form and defend it. However, I see no one defending it here. (Watch as I say this, some people who actually like this will coincidentally appear and start defending it.) -

Thank you for sharing your concern. I have updated the post to clarify that there is no danger of any accounts being deleted. The only consequence of not merging your account is being unable to log in.
But if you can't login, then how could you merge your account? Not that I'm going to, anyway. This is a useless feature. :/

Did you even read this post?
They specifically state the store is an optional feature, and that the EULA won't be changed to make it the only way to download content. People are still free to distribute their maps for free, on the Marketplace or someone else. Nothing is forcing anyone to make people pay for their content.
Then what happens in this situation?
Someone uploads a map on the Market Place for Mobile and Console users, yet also uploads it to Minecraft Forum or some other map-sharing site.
The Market Place version cost about $4-5, while as always, the PC version is completely free.
There are no differences at all between the two versions.
What's stopping this person, besides the comments he'll probably get on his post?
What's stopping anyone from abusing the Market Place system like this?
And for the record, no, I didn't read the post. I just like to state problems and wait for people to correct me. It seems faster to me.

I still find it unfair for Mobile/Console users that they don't free COMMUNITY made maps.
I feel like that'd making them paid for will lead to people wanting to switch to the PC versions of MC.
Especially when people start to re-make console maps for PC, meaning PC users get these maps for free when Mobile/Console users have to pay for them. -

I feel like they should change the texture on the Illusioner. It's not bad, but compared to the other Illagers, it's colors are too bright and happy looking.
It should have much darker colors, in my opinion, so it fits in with the Illagers.
Or maybe it's a hipster and wants to be different idk.

There's a reason the 'maps' and 'skins' sections of Minecraft forum and/or Planet Minecraft exist.

Seems like a good item that can be used for Chain Armor, and armor that hasn't had a crafting recipe yet...

Are you trying to use the Green-robed Villagers?
If so, then you're using the wrong villagers. Cartographers are an alt. profession for the Liberian, A.K.A, the White-Robed Villagers. -

No, in this snapshot, it's bugged to were if you try to dye a Shulker Box, you get the same, normal Shulker Box. Thus, you can't color them. -

It was a bug, but it was a bug that didn't do anything but give you an amazing sight to see for reaching the world-limit. So yes, I'm pretty sure people would love to have this non-harmful bug in-game again. If anything, it was a reward for reaching the world-limit.

There was this one mod long ago that changed the way Minecraft's worlds worked...
Basically, it allows you to dig way beyond the limit of the world: digging straight down would now eventually lead to The Nether, and digging even deeper would lead you to the supposed other side of the world, back to the surface where'd you'd be flipped upside so you can walk there. It also included a new world type where it'd have that other side right above the normal surface too...
Does anyone here know the mod I'm talking about?? I swear this was a mod that existed, and I wanna find it again.

Who amongst the Minecraft community would enjoy to see Steve? as a playable character in Super Smash Brothers for Switch?
Do you think he has a chance, moveset potential, enough of a following?
Or if you're against it, any (valid) reason to it? I'd love to hear* your* opinions.
I've got nothing else better to do so...

This is more or less a theory I have, that the version selection option tab split up, and continues to split up, the Minecraft community. I say this because of the option it gives, for players to stay behind the newest updates because they just don't like the latest version's changes. Of course, there are logical reasons to stay behind, such as to get access to mods that have been abandoned and left stuck on that version, but sadly I don't think many people use it for that. I feel like I'm seeing a lot of players use it just to avoid change, which splits up the community into like 4 or 5+ different types. As much as I hate to say it, being someone who mainly sticks to 1.7.10 and 1.8, I feel as though this option just never allows the community the game has to progress. Sure, the newest updates may bring in new players, but the old ones who never allow change will still be there, sometimes harassing the newer players and acting like old people saying things like "Well back in the original version of..." Now please keep in mind I'm not saying everyone is like this. As I said, there are logical reasons for this option and even mature players who keep personal preference in mind, I just feel like their in the minority though.

Hm... Okay yeah, I could've worded that better.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is basically, what is the first version of Minecraft you've ever played?
When you made your first world, where you just relaxed, built a house, and tried hard to get those diamonds, before all these new fancy blocks and what-not.
The most nostalgic version to you. If you started with console, then that's okay too, if you can remember what version it was on.

I'm talking about game versions you can choose within the launcher.
I'm asking this as I'm working on a project that requires this question answered.
Thanks in advance.

I'm confused?
Is this the fix for the screen not appearing on the in-game screen? If so, then I already have WebDisplays 0.11 and MCEF 1.7.10-0.6.
And I'm not sure what this jcef_helper.exe is.

Download doesn't work. :/

Is this mod dead?
2
So. . . Are all SCP mods dead?...

So... this is a recent problem for me, the screen doesn't show up on the, well, in-game screen. I have MCEF, and this WAS working about a month ago, but now it doesn't work.
I have Optifine, I'm on MC version 1.7.10, I have flash updated (I think), and I don't know what you mean by 'log.'
0
Can you still have the link for the 1.7.10 version?
I get it's discontinued, but I still use 1.7.10 cause that's where most of the cool mods still are.
I recently miss-placed my 1.7 version of this and I came back here to re-download it, but it's not here.

FINALLY!
Now I can have an A R M Y of Peridots!
AHAHAHAHAH!
HAHAHAH!

Ahem.
You could probably guess who my favorite gem is.

Dropbox download doesn't work, file not found.

I don't know if this is a problem with my game, Optifine, your mod, or some other mod I have, but the Wroughtnaut Helm and one of the Barakoa mask's don't have textures or models. They just come up as either pink squares or black and pink squares, it's different every time I load the game. Could you know what's going on here?
