Get a PC with Windows 7. Throw away your Mac.

Only when the mountains are flat and Manchester United are respected will I throw away my mac.

Does the mac have a META INF file in the minecraft JAR if so you need to delete that file.

No META-INF whatsoever. I checked several times that it wasn't there.

Here's what you do: Get a Windows 7 Computer, and enjoy the wonders it brings

I'm afraid that's a big fat 'NO!' Windows is actually quite poor compared to Mac (too many bugs) so please answer while considering that I'm on a mac.

I just had a thought the other day: instead of having one slot for fuel and one slot for an item, there could be multiple slots for each. For example, you might have 1 bit of coal and you want to cook 5 raw porkchops and 3 chickens. Since one piece of coal cooks eight items, this adds up perfectly. However, the time taken up by moving the cooked pork into your inventory, then moving the chicken in instead, is enough to waste fuel burning time, meaning that not everything will get cooked. If there was a queue, though, there would be no need to worry about that. Just place the pork in one slot, chicken in the other, and watch the coal not be wasted! Additionally this could apply to fuel (like coal+wood).
