    I'm back with another update. This is one of the most significant yet, and there are many changes/additions. The most important changes: Ported pack to newest Minecraft version, remade stone and ores, added some entities, added beds, and remade the torch.

    Update: 0.16.0 has been released. This update adds all minecarts and rails, elytra, hopper, TNT, farmland, polar bear, rain, and sun textures. The attack indicator for Minecraft 1.11.2 has also been added.

    Update: After an enormous hiatus of over a year, I've returned (if only briefly) to provide a new update to Polychromata. This update contains about 130 changes, ranging from minor improvements to high-quality content additions.


    -Crafting table
    -All stone tools
    -Iron armor
    -Chainmail armor + items
    -Sugarcane block + item
    -Water
    -Animated redstone dust
    -Coal
    -Potatoes
    -Hardened clay
    -All normal (non-red) sandstone textures
    -Improved pack icon
    -Improved all banner pattern textures
    -Boss health bars
    -Spectral and tipped arrow textures
    -Textures and icons for all boat types
    -Completely remade the primary HUD, making it much nicer to look at

    0.14.0 update: Charged creeper lightning, ender crystal, melon (item), emerald, title banner, beacon, zombie pigman, stone sword, bedrock, tulips, brewing stand (block), small mushrooms, and gold tools have been added.

    Update: Version 0.12.0 has been released. It adds boat item, bowl, mushroom stew, book, enchanted book, written book, writable book, feather, splash potion bottle, brick item, GUI widgets (mainly buttons), furnace, and resource pack arrow GUI textures.

    I'm not even sure what you're suggesting. If you're suggesting an optimized texture to cause as little framerate loss as possible, it would have to be very flat (i.e. no fine detail) and have a very small palette. Think Sphax, but heavily aliased and saved in an 8-bit (or lower) format.

    But that doesn't really make a difference, since even the pixels for a flat black square are all still loaded and consume video RAM. The only significant difference is that the files would use a little less space in hard drive memory.

    The only way to improve the framerate is to use textures with less resolution than default (i.e. 8x8, 4x4, 2x2, 1x1). Anything above 16x is going to use more memory, no matter what.

    Alpha rendering makes a few of the pixels look strange, but I don't think it's too noticeable since the texture is constantly moving.

    The lack of pommels on the stone and gold swords makes them look a little out of place. Speaking from a functional standpoint, those weapons could easily fly out of the wielder's hand during use.

    And the iron sword's blade looks a little flat. Otherwise, I like the textures. :)

    Update: Trapped chest (normal and double), wither, cookie, wheat, chainmail, sugar, normal potion, and nether brick block textures have been added. Grass top textures have been improved and greatly diversified.
