I've made towers like this before

The stairs would be around the middle part that looks like a plus. It looks fairly good, but it's a bit trickier to walk up, as the bends are a bit strange.
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could flip a level in your house and some music would turn on? Or, to be creative, you could power a minecart down a track and when it gets to the end, it stops on a pressure plate and plays a tune. Think of all the things you could do! (ok maybe not that many, but it sounded good) When jukeboxes are receiving redstone power, they should play whatever record they contain, just like when you put the record in. When it loses power, it would stop playing.
Records will still play right when you put them in, but will be restarted when redstone power is given to it, and stopped when said power ceases. You can always take the record out and put it back in to start it again, even if there's no power going to it.
It happens whenever the cart is destroyed and you are in it. You can do it simply by whacking the cart so it is destroyed while you're still inside it.
I prefer to leave redstone torches up indicating which way to get back at a fork or some other branching out in a cave system. They look so different than normal torches that you'll never get the two confused, and you don't need to use extra torches by putting 2 or 3 up as a similar indicator. It uses less redstone than a path, but at the expense of being a bit harder to understand. You need to place it so it's obvious where you need to go.
I was planning on making one with some nice scenery for my resolution (1680x1050). I'll post it if I get to it, and I'll try to make some different sizes.
As far as I can tell destroying the cart while you're in it drops you into the block below it. If there was lava below that block, it's pretty much guaranteed death, since the block is still there and will stop you from going back up once you get out of it.
Like mentioned above, if you only want ores, spelunking is the best way to get them.
I strip mine when I want stone for a building project and want to get ores in the process (also it's more interesting than starting at a cobblestone generator). Try to maximize time and pick use by making shafts like Ery mentioned above. Basically, I make a tunnel as far as I want to go (usually I make it until I run into a lava lake or something else I don't want to pass). Then, start digging tunnels off that main tunnel, going as far as you want, separating each with 2 stones so you see as many stones as you can. I also spelunk caves I find while strip mining for some extra ore. Make sure you do this about 5-10 stones above the bedrock, and you shouldn't have any problem mining for ore.
I haven't seen anyone mention this yet so sorry if this has been posted.
Block 62, or "Burning furnace" works just like a normal furnace as far as I could see. If you want a working furnace on your server you should give people some 62. You use coal just like you need too, and you can walk away from it while it's smelting as well. The only issue is that you can't make one, you need to get your hands on block 62.
Before I knew about dungeons and the spawners, I was digging around and heard some spiders hissing at me in the wall. They sounded so angry, and I was wondering where they might be coming from. I mined towards the sound and eventually got to green cobblestone. What was that doing there? Were the spiders behind that? I then removed one of the blocks. What I saw were about 5 spiders all in a room with a fire attempting to leap at me through the small hole. Fortunately they didn't fit, but that was absolutely terrifying.

Sheep are so silly with their gaping mouths.

The server starts ok, but after about 20 seconds I get this:
And a much longer stack dump that probably won't help (if you think it will I'll post it).
I don't understand what would be doing that, can anyone offer assistance?

If you don't know any programming it might be a bit tough at first. If you know another language, it shouldn't be hard.
