posted a message on City of Trindlum - Made for my book (Update 11/15: Rebuilding the Harbor)

Trindlum in Minecraft is pretty much dead and buried. Tired of making it alone, also I don't even like the results of my own work in it. Ultimately, building Trindlum's world in Minecraft is 99% waste of time, which could be used on writing.

It would be cool to make, but extremely demanding as well. Also the lack of reference material from inner street is rather problematic.

    Hey all!

This time update is fairly small, but still decided to write it because it will have huge impact on the city. Update can be found inside the spoiler!

Remember this layout map I showed? I have started to work on the upper civilian harbor. Meaning, old is now gone and work started. New one will be so much better. :)

After I had lined up the wavebreaker with wool, I removed all the water and started to pile up stone.

Latter picture is good, since you guys see how deep the harbor actually is. Here the stone was still very very rough and I hadn't rounded up the bottom. Once I had done that, I put the water back.

It's still very WIP at this point. Like you saw in the first picture, it will have few towers going around it as defense line. Once I have made the towers, I will refine and finish the wavebreaker itself using different stones and shapes.

As a last picture, map shot. :)

Hopefully you find the update interesting, even though it's as small as this. Next job is to put up the layout down. While there will be docks and ships, I plan to make few houses there as well. Kind of to show the overgrown feel of the city, which Trindlum indeed is!

This picture is from yesterday and there is one huge change already made after it. But the situation with houses is exactly the same as in the picture. Meaning, an update coming soon. :)

Hello sir, good to see that you're still working on this build. :)

I share your sentiments on the name. I've often found a good name is one of the most difficult parts of writing a story - there's a real tendency in fantasy for even really good books to have rather generic sounding titles, and it's something which I've really wanted to avoid with my own work. Title formats like "The Adjective Noun", or "An X of Y". Unfortunately I've found it's quite tricky to come up with something that sounds good and doesn't fall into that 'samey' category. I've actually got to the point where I'm near the end of my first draft (not quite there yet, but not far off. 304k words and counting...), and I've only just come up with a title that I'm marginally happy with.

How's your draft coming? Close to finishing, or still some way to go?

Heyyy Confuse, long time no see. :)

Naming is indeed hard! Gladly the name of the series has been figured and doesn't use those formats, which indeed are widely used. I recall reading that 'X of Y' kind of started to spread, when Robert Jordan introduced "The Wheel of Time" series and got huge success with it. But frankly, I think people don't even mind the repetition in these as long as you are standing out in some way!

Great to here you're writing is closing it's end! Lot of words there, don't burn out yourself when you start to edit and polish. :) I got still fair bit to go, as I aim to write further than the ending of this book, so I can better determine the structure. I also made significant story change, which took me to whole new road and obviously making it longer. In all honesty, last two months have been tough ones to go through and writing been sligthly slower.

I understand the naming issue, my rough draft of my story has gone through 30 different title revisions. :P

Titles are hard! The title of your book determines a lot, when someone takes a look at the book and thinks about buying!

I'm sure this question has been asked quite a bit, but what is the book's title? And is there a download for the build? It looks awesome, nice work!

Hey Draconian! Sorry there isn't a download on the build right now. But to be honest, I should share one though. Guess I should do that soon.

There isn't official name yet, as I don't want to declare one while I am still working on it. Great possibility it gets taken, or that my story changes enough that the title won't fit anymore.

But I have named the series for the books. I will share that name once the website will be up and running!

My new power supply is here, I will give it some stress to see if it resolves my stability issues. Then can concentrate on building. :)

    Seriously though, that's incredible.

    Not sorcery, just diabetes. ;)

    That looks really cool.

I especially like the randomized terrain though.

Thanks Rossky! I wanted the terrain look like a mix of stone and burned coal + ashes. Glad you like it. :)

    Hey!

For quite some time I have been getting these questions from random people, where they can add (skype, steam etc) me to their friendlist. Even though how cool it is and awesome it is, it's slightly annoying because everyone is asking for different place... I wanted to create something which everyone can use and be part of, so I have set up my own Discord server.

What is Discord? It is free voice and text chat service, which can be described as "hybrid of Skype and TeamSpeak". It offers a platform to chat on, but also different rooms for voice chatting (you are not forced to be listening the voice chat - you can choose the room you are in and disconnect from voice).

    https://discordapp.com/

Read more from there. :) I think it is cool, because you aren't forced to download the app at all! You can connect the chat in your browser as well. But if you want to download, it is available on desktop and mobile. I've been using this with my friends for a week now and so far everything works smoothly. Looks like this one will replace other programs in our group.

    Join Trindlum's server here: https://discord.gg/0dDf88hSAG5pgBGN

That is the best place to contact me at the moment. Also it's lot more easier for me to share one info to everyone than 17 different infos to 17 different guys/gals.

Thanks Cube! Glad you like the build. :) It was ton of fun to make and honestly, challenging as well. I have never made anything like this before, so great it game out good.

The statues aren't 100% mine, they are loosely based on what I saw by TheEvilSketch over PMC.

posted a message on I built a hub for a charity event

Once again I had the pleasure to build for Votable and their charity event. The theme of the build is spooky as it was around halloween. :)

The hub is meant to be a fortress amidst of monsters. As you can see the small wyvern is circling and haunting for its prey.

A slightly more comprehensive description of the project:

November 7th, Votable's 3rd UHC Season starts with its first qualification round and ends December 5th with the finals. Follow the event through livestream and donate for the charity!

All of the donations will be given to International Relief Teams to support Syrian Refugees.

    Event details:

Join the Votable's Minecraft community here!

I invite everyone to check out the links and look more into Votable! More pictures inside the spoiler.

And if you prefer watching cinematics, here's a three minute cinematic of the build. :)
