    You must be doing something wrong then. Please keep in mind that All compression booster have to be activated at the SAME time and ALL boosters have to be activated at the SAME time. If you are even one tick off the cannon would most likely to blow up especially the case with same plane cannons.

    No, actually quite a few uses it. Well, most of the good cannons does anyway. I think you would find lot of those types if you type in 'same plane cannon' in the search box. I currently use this for most of my cannons.

    I think this is a bit ridiculous. If they wanted to grief I doubt they would spend the time to make a cannon. Just go to the city, set a few blocks of lava and vola. Besides, cannons aren't even a 'real' feature in the game that Notch meant to put in.

    That's pretty cool, too bad it isn't too consistent. One use I thought up for vertical cannons is using them as 'Bouncing Betties'. I don't know if you know much about WWII but basically it is just a anti-personal mine that 'bounce' up when activated (so to explode in one's face). So I thought about hiding those cannons underground and shoot up, explode, and take out the player on surface.

    Oh, it is not mainstream mostly because cannons are rarely(if ever)used in practical warfare of minecraft. When you add in the fact that it is dangerous and complicated most people would have just left. Cannons are only used in major battles with huge fortress and such. You just found the only really active cannon discussion on the forum. :tongue.gif:

    It is better than the traditional 8 block long water ditch. I think that most of the 'modern' Minecraft cannons use that method. The only thing you gotta watch out for is Implosion. Currently I have managed to get 230 block range from 11T engine. I am not sure of this could be optimized any further.

    Yeah, just fire a bunch of shots and maybe you'll land one of them. However I've got an aiming system idea. Have you seen the recent player detector? Link that up to another one of those and a AND gate which auto fires the cannon once the dragon 'trips' the wire so to speak. Like one of those improvised WWII grenade tripmines. However I am still not convinced about replacing things after getting nailed by dragons....

    Anyhow this is my latest cannon. If anyone has a good name for it that would be great but for now it is the TacCan


    The canon fires two TNT shells supported by a 11T engine. The shells go where the glowstones are. The design is somewhat like the Jolly Creeper with the three 'engine' TNT in a line style.



    The current max range is about ~220 blocks, the dimensions are 13x8x7 (LxWxH). It is also a same plane cannon. I'll post more if people are interested.

    How big/compact do you want it? I got one I just finished final stage of testing and it is about 13x8x7 (LxWxH)counting all the hidden wiring. It has a 11T Engine and you can fire two shells at once to a max range of about ~220 blocks. However it isn't a piston operated cannon.

    I tried. I really tried. To quote Notch "removed fancy buggy behavior, adds dead simple working behavior". If you want it I can get a schematic.

    Simple you see, pop some tnt into water and light 'em up. Pop another tnt and watch the explosion. It is just using the same idea as guns. I do suggest some armour when you do this and search up some youtube vids about it.

    Yeah. :ohmy.gif: Huge bases also have a problem with lighting cause it is really hard to light up every single inch. As well, I play on peaceful normally(<---redstone freak here) so my experiments don't get blown up by Creepers etc. Thus I was unprepared for the Enderman jerks. Arg, I am still trying to find out which wires got switched in my command center. A lot of displays are not working. :sad.gif:

    Oh yeah, forgot to mention, DO NOT turn on anything besides peaceful until 1.9! I went on normal yesterday and got Enderman-Griefed considering my base is huge, yeah. I am trying to clean it up right now. Arggg, I shall declare war on Enderman for making me going around fixing a structure that's like 500x500 with multiple levels. DIE ENDERMAN!
