As I see it, redstone is compressed and aged material that either contains energy of lava(since it's red and is near that layer) or it's just stored energy of some kind.
Basically a red energized version of coal..
Torches stay on forever simply because it's a videogame.
Onto iron golems, it's voodoo magic, what else do I have to say?
Redstone deals with energy transfer, so I call it tech, golems deal with bringing things to life with a creepy pumpkin, I call that magic.
No, Its the pumpkins! They contain the souls of dead players! That's why they can make golems!
Feb 23, 2012I'm thinking of creating a massive complex factory, On one side there will be several "Forced breeding" areas mostly consisting of villagers, These baby makers will create baby after baby that will be filtered down into minecarts that bring them to waiting areas before filtering them into the work stations, Where they will endlessly step on pressure plats that assemble assorted items such as Snow and iron golems. These golems will be packaged and shipped to other villages. Those laborers who do not work the factory will be brought to the sacrifice chamber, Where there souls will be converted to pumpkins. Others will instead work the iron mine.Posted in: 1.1 Update Discussion

I think they're powered by manipulating symbols in a mysterious language known only as "Java," running on strange machines powered by tiny particles some people have come to call "electrons." The behavior of these particles as described by those who know their secrets is baffling: They exist both as waves and particles simultaneously, and they mysteriously store energy as they orbit other particles known as "protons" and "neutrons." And even the orbits are mysterious, as they do not truly orbit - they merely appear in places in their orbitals with varying probabilities.
These "electrons" are transported though mysterious pipes known as "wires" which are solid metal, with no hole in the center. By arranging these pipes into complex configurations, they create devices that are capable of reading the language known as "Java" and via the manipulation of symbols in this language, the golems animate and move in ways only those who study the archaic language of Java know of.
Most certainly magic.
I think I love you.
Feb 23, 2012The game is a fantasy game first and foremost. That's why we have enchanting tables, Brewing stands, Golems, Ect. That's all magic. Hell, The experience might as well be magical life force oozing out of creatures. Technology would have to be fantasy based, At least in the main game. Pull systems? Yes. That would fit in a fantasy setting. Cars? No, Not really.Posted in: 1.1 Update Discussion
I think we will be getting flying boats before any sort of "Normal" machine.
Feb 23, 2012Its possible to explain anything.Posted in: 1.1 Update Discussion
Does this make these explanations right?
How about tihs,The reason redstone is magical might be because being underground for millions of years, Its been Collecting radiation from the void, Which isn't actually an endless void but a large cavern of toxic gasses causing all stone except bedrock to disinergrate when touched directly, Thats why you die in the void, It suffocates and disingrates your body. The energy from the build up of gasses is seeping through the bedrock, But in a weaker form, And anyone that gets to close to redstone is doomed to cancerous growths.

i think technology and magic shouldnt be considered two different subjects on golems, as theyre made of machinery and powered by magic, technology makes the body, magic the soul.wihtout one the other doesnt exist.
The thing about it though is that there is no machinery. Its a solid block of iron animated with a magic pumpkin.

Examine the redstone. This is the only logical explanation to how redstone behaves.
Any sufficient analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science, and any science that is not understood is indistinguishable from magic.
I just explained it, therefore your magic is science
Of course magic is science, And friendship is witchcraft. But the rules of our physics don't apply to the minecraft world, So our science can not explain it. Its cube magic.

Magic? Come on, come up with something better.
...What? I was pointing out the fact that most of the "Technology" in the game is actually magic.
And your post is misleading, Mister original poster! To me you sounded like you wanted computers or some other advanced technology.
And in any case, Since this is a fantasy game, It HAS to have magic in order to fit into the game. At least anything that doesn't use a furnace.
But whatever. I want trains. Or any vehicle you can actually walk around in. I'm really tired of minecarts.
Feb 23, 2012I've always wondered why new ores can't just be reskins of old ores. Like rubies, Sapphires, and emeralds that are exactly the same as diamonds in every way but they look different and can't stack.Posted in: 1.1 Update Discussion
Feb 23, 2012Its MAGIC though, Not technology. Redstone is MAGIC POWDER, The iron gollem is not a robot, Its a living piece of metal animated through MAGIC, Its schizo tech, The most technologically advance item we have is the simplest machine in existence besides a wheel on a stick! And even THAT is powered by magic in some form!Posted in: 1.1 Update Discussion

I can't see their texture pack can someone explain that?
BTW they can be crafted like the snowgolem
but use iron blocks instead of snow and add some arms also made out of iron blocks.
except its iron blocks not normal iron
and the skeleton head is a pumpkin
Just tested this, It created a iron golem. Doesn't seem to follow you around, Sadly.
