posted a message on I DONT LIKE MOJANG
Alright, I'm just going to step in here and point out the flaws in your argument before a Mod locks this topic (which they really should)...

Now, I am not much of a programmer

Yet you make broad statements about how Mojang leaves lots of bugs, creates bad code, Java is a bad language to code in, etc. I myself have encountered maybe two or three bugs in my entire time playing Minecraft (which I started playing in the late stages of Infdev). Also, I doubt Notch had the possibility of this game becoming one of the best-selling PC games of all time in mind when he was coding it. And when it did, he couldn't simply recode it all in a different language. That's simply ignorance saying that he shouldn't have programmed in Java, especially from one who admits to having little knowledge of programming. Besides, Java is an excellent language; one of the many reasons it's used in billions of devices worldwide.

Mojang sucks at math too as last i checked 1 + 2 = 3. Nope! gotta have a book with unbreaking II and another with unbreaking II to get unbreaking III. Well done mojang, go back to kindergarten!

That's simply flaming right there. It was obviously a design choice, and had no regard towards their mathematical abilities. I personally support this mechanic.

most if not all of the sfx in minecraft are annoying and repetitive. The sound engine itself is a complete failure. I hear a zombie... but i cannot figure out what direction the sound came from!

That's an opinion, and the sound engine functions perfectly fine. I, and many others, are able to locate something by sound. If you can't, that's your fault.

Thunder is annoying and just plain spammy. Its loud as and made no sense when you are at the bedrock and can hear it as loud as if you were right beside it.
Rain is ugly and spammy, both sfx and gfx.
Zombies are as they are annoying and getting rather OP

    More opinions, general whining...

Creepers are just greif machines. I think a sandbox game, a game about BUILDING should not have a walking bomb that s up hours and hours of work. Mojang how would you like it if i walked into your office and deleted all the files off of your systems? Its like spending hours and hours doing something and suddenly its gone. Its frusterating and annoying.

Creepers are another design choice, and quite an iconic one at that. You might as well lament about how minecraft is made of blocks. As for the rest of that paragraph, you're exaggerating and overreacting quite a bit. One creeper is not that destructive anymore in vanilla minecraft, and equating a creeper explosion (which occurs in a virtual world) to the removal of real-world assets is idiotic.

I am srsly considering quitting minecraft unless i see mojang get some education and learn how to properly make a game

Again, coming from a person who admits to having little experience in programming to people who make a living off of it. If you dislike the game so much, then quit already. None of us want to hear your rant, especially one with such poorly constructed and flawed arguments such as this.

I just wanted to throw out a suggestion for the admins, so eh, here goes.

The suggestion is: don't allow diamonds to be mined naturally.

Why? Because they tend to ruin the server, with everyone running around in full diamond within a week or two. For one, the economy is busted. All prices shoot down, and as the economy is trade-based, diamonds will eventually become a form of currency, with players keeping a massive stockpiles. Everything will be worth less. The server will also shift to a more PvP environment, as of course, everyone wants to fight each other with their superior diamond armor. Then since diamonds are in wide supply, enchantment tables and other rare-craftable items will start being used, ruining RP. In short, the economy will be ruined, and PvP will dominate.

The benefits of limiting the spread of diamonds are numerous. Their value skyrockets, and all other items are worth much more. A stable trade-based economy comes into place. Diamonds are spread via admins, so they are very rare. Diamond tools/weapons/items become even more valuable, and RP benefits.

That's my two cents, hope you'll think about my suggestion.

    Age: 16
RP Experience: I've been RPing since I was 13. I started with forum roleplay, and eventually moved to Minecraft RP after about a year.
Any Previous Bans: Quite some time ago, in Alpha, there was an abusive admin on a survival server who banned me for disagreeing with him spawning in items for himself.
Did you Read the Rules: Yes, and I am no filthy tribal.

    Name: Apophis
    Age: 23
    Race: Salamantite
    Fears: Fire
Skills: Impressively strong, even for a Salamantite, and possessing a devious cunning, Apophis is quite the challenging enemy.
What City State where you born in?: (Not sure this applies if I'm a Salamantite, but if it does, then Fellia.)
Backstory: (Not sure if this is lore appropriate - that's not to say there is bad stuff in it, but I'm not sure what a typical Salamantite's life would be like. So I'm kinda making this up as I go, haha. If you want me to change anything, feel free to say so.)

Apophis was born in a swamp. His family were seclusionists, preferring to live their lives in solitude rather than engage with the often noisy and unhygienic City Staters. Even among their own kind, they were known to keep to themselves. From an early age, Apophis was subjected to all kinds of menial labor. He woke sore, went to bed sore, and the next day would be even sorer. Perhaps this is why he is so strong, even for a Salamantite; perhaps it was just genetics. His father's strength was well known, despite his isolationist habits.

During the time Apophis' 18th nameday was approaching, he returned from a hard day's work in the swamps to find his home on fire - with his entire family in it. The raging inferno consuming the house was far too hot to approach, yet Apophis tried anyway. He still has the scars to prove it. To this day he has not been able to ascertain the cause of the fire, but it was likely due to the high concentrations of methane present in the swamps. His father had always been extremely careful concerning open flame, and had strictly forbidden it. Apophis blamed the careless City Staters; a group of them had probably passed by and thrown their used torches into the swamp somewhere. Regardless, to Apophis' knowledge, his family perished in the flames.

Afterward, Apophis wandered for quite some time. He roamed from place to place, city to city, searching for a purpose. Somewhere along the road he took up the life of a sellsword. It started out small; doing small jobs such as collecting payments, keeping the peace in taverns, and the like. Soon he began taking on larger jobs, like caravan guarding and bandit hunting. He gained a small degree of fame for his efficiency and ruthlessness carrying out these jobs, and did well for himself. Apophis soon gained a feeling of invincibility.

As many youth realize far too late, this was his downfall. Perhaps that is why he took on a job which he knew to be far over his head. An assassination, of all things. In short, he crossed the wrong people and barely escaped alive. Apophis' would-be victim hired bounty hunters to chase him all across the land, and for many months Apophis ran, barely eluding their grasp. He eventually realized they would not stop coming for him, and so Apophis ran to the one place which he thought they could not follow him to: The Frontiers of Krinvala. And thus, here he is.

You say that they will finish the server in due time however consistently I've asked for the OP to be updated since it CONTINUES to say it's going to be released in August.
I'm giving them criticism because they're not acting upon whose going to see this thread. I saw this thread around the start of august and thought it was promising, and if I came across it now as a bystander it wouldn't give it a second glance since it's poorly maintained and there has been NO updates on whether there have been advances in upping the server.

This is killing me as even if they do spend money getting the server up, the likelihood of all these that have applied are going to be minimal to who actually logs onto the server. I can almost guarantee one third of the applicants will disappear, another half of the two thirds left will disappear since everyone is going to go solo creating cities/towns and what not.

When you have a poorly maintained thread, THAT is what the public sees. They don't see the dead skype chat in which development is occurring. They see a freaking thread that says the server is out in August.Tell me buddy, whats the date?

You need to get off your high horse. They're running the show, not you. The fact that you so relentlessly pursue such a trivial matter is so inconceivably stupid and pointless that it defies belief. With that said, I don't want to start a flame war, and I sure as hell believe that the devs don't want me to either. So consider this my final message.

May I ask, WHAT has been done?

    Quote from Murphysmurfy

This thread was created over a month ago, and no sever was rented?

At this pace, just give up.

You generally don't rent a server until you're ready for it to be used, so you can conserve funds. They've probably been working on a self-hosted server...

Also, I seriously doubt the Devs are feeling very "encouraged" with all the crap you've both been giving them lately. They'll finish the server when they finish it, and it'll be better off because of it.

    Minecraft Username:
What interests you to apply for membership?
I like the premise of the server, and have been searching for a roleplay server on a scale like this for a while now.
Have you read the rules thoroughly?
    Yes, contra omnes.
Have you ever been banned from a Minecraft server in the past? If so, why?
Once, because of an abusive admin who did not appreciate my request for him to stop spawning in items.
Would you ever donate to Bellum Omnium?
Perhaps, if I spend enough time in it.
Is there anything else you'd like to let me know?
    Nothing comes to mind.

posted a message on ~ | THE LORD OF THE CRAFT | ~ - ENTER ATHERA - ~ Officially the #1 Minecraft Roleplay Server

    Out-Of-Character Information
Please fill out the following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details are accurate.

    Minecraft Account Name: VoiD__
    How old are you?: 15
    Time-Zone: EST
Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes.
What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: I've been roleplaying since I was roughly thirteen years old. I first started out roleplaying via forums across the web. I began playing playing Minecraft when it was in it's late infdev / early alpha stages, so when I found that servers entirely devoted to roleplaying were being created, I quickly joined in on the fun. I've been primarily roleplaying on Minecraft ever since, and have joined countless RP servers. However, despite knowing of LoTC since it was based in Aegis, I never made an application. Until now, of course.
How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: It's hard not to hear about it if you're in the Minecraft Roleplaying community.
Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: N/A
Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): I shall once I post this one.
Have you read the Elven lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: I have, and I will to the best of my ability.

In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Creating a fictional character (often set in a fictional universe) with a certain personality, traits, history, and values. The creator plays as this character and interacts with the world and other players according to these four things
Meta-gaming: Knowing something out of character and then applying that knowledge whilst in character.
Power-emoting: Forcing someone into a certain course of action without giving them any choice in the matter.

    In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

    Full Name: Dimaethor
    Current Age: 264
    Sub-race (if any): Dark Elf
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Dimaethor did not have a special childhood, nor an uncommon one, or even a particularly interesting one. He was born in Asulon, in Normandor, to a father that had taken up soldiery as a profession and a mother who helped run the library. They lived in relative ease together in a modest home. Dimaethor being an only child, all his father's and mother's parental attentions were spent on him. He learned to wield a blade at a young age thanks to his father. Over the years, he proved himself a more than capable swordsman. While he could not be considered a master under any standard, he was uncommonly competent with a sword. Dimaethor learned to read and write thanks to his mother. Because of her role in the library, Dimaethor never ran out of stories to read. He found an interest in Elven tales of yore, and knows many by heart.

When Dimaethor was of age, he decided he wanted to see the rest of the Elven world. He set off on his own, with his parents consent, to visit the other Elven cities and territories. It was on this journey that he was exposed to the rest of the world. Though he never left Elven lands, he met Humans, Dwarfs, and even the beastly Orcs. He haggled with merchants, chatted with locals, trained and honed his blade on many occasions, and was witness to breathtaking sights. His journey lasted more than half a century, and was only cut short by the fall of Asulon. He sailed to Elysium and Kalos with other survivors, and eventually landed on the shores of Anthos. Dimaethor settled in Leumalin with the majority of his race. However, he has yet to find his parents, though he believes they still live.
Ambitions for the Future: After the fall of Asulon, and with influences from his father, Dimaethor wishes to become a Sentinel and help protect Malinor.
Personality: Though outwardly a calm, collected individual, Dimaethor can be ruthless and cold. He has a deep suspicion, though also curiosity, of other non-elven races. As he wishes to become a Sentinel, he is willing to sacrafice much for Malinor. Even so, he does not make any of his decisions in haste, is often very calculating.
Skills: Dimaethor is skilled with a sword and competent with most blades. He is a passing archer. He also possesses knowledge of many Elven tales, and despite his ruthless nature he is very loyal to those he deems worthy.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin):

Any other details you wish to share about your character: Not really, no.

Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.

    1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?

Answer: I frown, wishing that I was a Sentintel so I could investigate further myself. As it stands, I approach the nearest Sentinel and inform them of what I witnessed, and continue on my way.

    2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?

Answer: Knowing the duties of a Sentinel, despite not being one, I help the old man up onto his feet. I then collect the gold off the street and put it inside a spare coin pouch I have, and hand it to him.

    3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

Answer: Having learned to haggle quite well on my journey, I barter with him for some food and supplies, as well as a new scabbard for my sword. Later, I chuckle to myself, thinking I got the best of him.
