Okay, I have a few suggestions. Now, please take these seriously, I think they would be great additions:
[*]You should be able to drink straight from water blocks, except water in ocean and beach biomes should dehydrate you, water in river biomes has a chance of poisoning you, and water in swamp biomes is safe to drink (Suprisingly accurate, they are big natural filterers of water because of the plants)

[*]You should have an easier way to make fire (rubbing sticks with a high chance of failure or something).

[*]Your body tempature should rise near a fire.

[*]Furnaces should be harder to craft, making fires the most efficent way to cook things (in the beginning).

[*]No punching trees! You should have to break leaves to get sticks which can be used to craft a hachet with some rocks (mabye in dirt?)

[*]There should be ice packs, like the heat packs.
    [/list]
And that's all I have for now. It looks great.

Well, some of you ideas are already in the mod. The drinking from water blocks, body temp rising near fire and the ice pack too i think.

But i would just like to debate your view on the water blocks. The water in swamps really shouldnt be healthy to drink, it would be filled with parasites and be murky and stagnant. The swamp might be able to clean the water, but all the water in the swamp isnt going to be safe, in reality it would be a 'gathering place' for all sorts of pollution. The swamp might be a filter for the nature, but it doesnt clean the water sufficiently for human consumption.
However the water in rivers and lakes arent going to be safe either. It might be safe to drink one day, and filled with all sorts of harmful things the next day, as surface water could easily sweep over an area where it might pick up these things. In reality all water should have to be purified to be safe.

But to simplify it for the mod, i think its fair to make the rivers safe, atleast compared to swamps. I do however think that there should be a minimal chance, at all times, to get 'infected' by the water, as it would remove the option of just following a simple pair of rules to never get hurt.

The only water that should be almost 100% safe should be spring water. But i dont know about the coding on that part, it might be a little side update somewhere in the future :)
    List tags are malformed.

    Hi guys

Would like to get your view on this. Once me and Dan get the survivalist mod into a nice playable state, would you guys like us todo a live stream of us playing this will consist of us playing survivalist mod and also taking questions and just chatting about general things. any way let me know and we can organize this.

    Thomas

Im not really a fan of these 'lets play'-videos, but if you make some kind of mod 'showcase', where you just show all the features, then i would probably watch that :)

If you don't mind me making a small suggestion...
    MORTAR AND PESTLE!
I think this would be a neat little item. The crafting recipe would be a stick and a bowl, and you need it for grinding wheat, bone meal, dyes, ETC... By grinding wheat into wheat flour (a dark yellowish sugar re-texture?) and mixing it with a glass water bottle or water bucket, you get dough which you can then cook in the oven/furnace to make bread. I'm sure we can all agree that you can't make bread by just making a pile of wheat, right?!

This could work wonders for all sorts of healing items too. Grinding everything to a powder then mixing it with water to make a salve you could apply to bandages. To cure different things like burns, infections and poisons.

ok...while the mod creators decide to start responding to people i shall post this idea....simply because i cannot find it anywhere in your planned features...

    Idea:
The light level should determine a set amount of heat "income" so anything that may produce light can also warm you up!

You didnt find that in the OP, under planned features? Because it is there, if you understand what you read.

Im sticking with you guys. Even though i havent played minecraft in several months, im still reading each and every post in this thread :b Planning on getting back in to the game when this mod is playable again :)

Well now it changes colour more obviously when you're in a different biome. Blue when it's cold, green when it's neutral and orange/red when it's hot. It's not meant to show specific temperature, just what it's going to do to your body temp if you stay there.

Did you really want values then? Because we may add in an item later on that tells you specifically the temperature of the biome.

Will you then at some point be able to create a thermometer that shows temperature on that scale when you have it your inventory, or something? That would be fantastic.

Hey everyone, here's a quick teaser of what we're working on for the stable v1.4 release.

No promises that everything will make it in, we're short on time and there are bound to be problems we can't predict, but we're working hard!

Can you tell what it is yet?

    -Dan

Thats totally a waterbarrel, it has to be :o

Nobody has replied in a little while, so I apologise for the double post. We've been squashing bugs here and there, and are getting close to releasing a proper build. We want to make sure that we release a nice stable build before we get to work on the next set of features, as I detailed in my blog post over on our website. This stable build includes getting rid of as many of the bugs we know about as possible, and just rounding out everything nicely. To quote my post,

    The list is as follows:
    • Finish the custom backpack slots
    • Add in specialist mining backpacks that cut down the weight of stone and ore significantly
    • Rebalance items weights and backpack effects
    • Replace water bottles with leather waterskins
    • Add in a couple of different sizes of water container for better inventory management
    • Add in custom fabric item for backpack recipes – also for clothing recipes
    • Get freezers in!
    • Revise artwork for backpacks
That way we feel that the mod will be in a place where everything is nice, stable and functional. We also want to completely redo the HUD design, as it was never meant to be permanent, and get in drinking directly from bodies of water.

Currently we are nearing completion on the custom backpack slots, which is the major feature from that list. Most other things will be very quick.

The bugs we have fixed are the bugs related to chests not opening/closing properly (they do now!) and not combining into double chests properly (they do now!) as well as food now rotting in furnaces and the like. If you stick with us, we'll release a lovely stable build for you very soon, and then we'll get back to work on new features, because it's been far too long!

    -Dan

I am looking very much forward to a stable version. At that point its going to feel very well rounded.
    Very excited :-(o):

    Hi guys quick update

Dan will be releasing a small hot-fix soon maybe later today.
It will add a basic error system and also fix a few bugs.
but mainly remove the unloved inventory covering system. but don't worry you're carrying weight at the start has been decreased dramatically to compensate.

let us know what you think.

    Thomas

Im sorry my idea has caused so much hardship to everybody. lol.
I just thought it would add alot of realism that you needed to make a backpack before you could carry a ton of stuff :b
Would you consider adding it later on, when you have the backpacks sorted out?

Yeah, it really does need it. I've been hesitant to do it, because I'm going to have to go through every page and check for everything I've missed, which seems like kind of a daunting task. I will do it though, soon.

    -Dan

Well it might be boring, but you have to have some idea of what ideas you need to find.
And think of how many people may be turned away because the future of the mod doesnt look very promising. You dont even have to make it very detailed at first, just add the bigger things.
    -Injury system
    -Wagons / maybe boats
-Removing the fitness section, or changing it to strength
-Moving item weight to current features

Just the basics. Then when you have something to build on, you could read a couple of pages a day and keep adding details to the features.

If you are indoors, will your body tempurature be mantained, if not, that would further increase the need to make a house!

    Quote from Lord_Adamm

    Hey again,

I thought of another idea! Hopefully I don't make myself look like an idiot but here it goes: As far as the water drinking and thirst system goes maybe you could add an extra hard mode where water from the ocean isn't drinkable until you desalinate it and the only drinkable water would be from inland ponds or lakes.

    Already planned.

Maybe the planned features list should be updated?
