I would definitely still come to a local, "mini" Minecraft con in Bellevue. Especially one during the summer. Just like a 1-day meet-up, like meeting in a park or a coffee shop. People could play Minecraft on laptops, or dress up, or just show off any Minecraft-related projects (replicas, papercraft, etc). Something for people who don't like the huge crowds, stuffy rooms, and expensive prices of big conventions. Also, I think a summer date works better for many people, and puts it far enough away from the "official" Minecraft Con in Vegas.
11/11/2011 in Las Vegas for $90 is just not practical for me.

P.s. I would suggest July

Haha last year we had a discussion to rebuild the park doing this.
Raiding cardboard boxes from local restaurants and such xD
You know, this could actually work. You can get literally hundreds of free cardboard boxes from local shops. When my family moved, we got most of our boxes from the local liquor store o_o. It's actually a great source of boxes because the boxes are cubes or near-cubes, while Costco boxes are flatter and don't have lids. Compare: http://www.swankpad.org/blather//uploads/2007/04/img_1697.jpg vs http://www.thedigeratilife.com/images/costco-store-2.jpg. Once you've got the boxes, all you have to do is either have to spray-paint them or print out textures and glue it on. If each person can bring 5 or 10 boxes we could get some serious building going on.
But then the question is, what do you do with the boxes? My first thought was spleef, but that could be problematic with carboard boxes and the harsh fall damage of real-life. My second though was box fort capture-the-flag! Divide everyone into two teams, build two box forts, and hide a flag in each of them. Then, play it like regular capture the flag, but with a few special rules:
[*:1u46c2gd]You can steal/move/build blocks from the other team's fort, but you can only carry 1 block at a time. Also, no throwing blocks.
[*:1u46c2gd]Anyone dressed as a creeper (or wearing green?) is a creeper. Creepers can't take the flag or move blocks, since they have no arms. Creepers can run into enemy territory and then explode (jump and fall over), and anyone within 5 or 6 feet has to fly back as if hit by an explosion. They have to lie there for 10 seconds before getting back up. The exploded creeper goes to jail as if they were tagged.
[*:1u46c2gd]Cake blocks! If you bring the cake into the enemy jail, you get to rescue everyone instead of 1 person. But, cake blocks can also be stolen and moved the same way as normal blocks.
Other things to do with the blocks: free build, building contest

I will be working on some building project , and along comes a damn cow. and i think to my self "The game world is 8 times the surface of the earth, and you got to stand right there, and go MOOO." and the other day a cow pushed me off a cliff. cows are not the one who should be tipping. thats not how cow tipping works. i think the cows are out to get me.

I pirated minecraft, then bought it afterwards, there's nothing Notch can do to stop that.
