Make the channel your 2 water ways feed into 2 wide and with a drop if possible. They are going to try to track and follow you so where you stand is going to be critical unless you can engineer in undercut walls to prevent them from wall climbing while trying to get to you.
Hi guys, I'm playing survival and I wanted to know what kind of xp farm should I build. I'm not that great so I don't know many, I only know the big 35x35 air box with fall dmg. So if you could tell me more ideas or your own favorite and most efficient designs, that would be great
PS: It can't be an ender farm, because you have to go to the end
I have built several, my drop farm is a high altitude that uses a flooder floor set to a clock timer to move all mobs to the grinder area. My frst XP trap in my current world was built around a double skele spawner that worked slow but well, it used a water elevator and drop to weaken them.
My current XP room is built around 4 spawners ( that setup took a lot of exploration to find ) that share a common point where I can stand to keep all 4 active, 2 zombie and 2 spider spawners set up similar to go to seperate timed piston kill zone, I excavated the area below the spawners and added a 2 block water brake so the mobs would not take fall damage, that way they drop more than 5 blocks away from the spawner so it can instant reset. I use water to move them to seperate timed piston grinders and after they are full to the point of lagging my comp, I hit the piston switches and finish them with splash poitions. I also added redstone lights to the 4 spawn areas so could shut off the spawn when not needed. I am well pleased with the results and have just added an Iron Golem farm that drops the Golem into the same area where I use a combination of a lava blade and pistons to kill the Golems.
My next project is a gold farm in the Nether but it is going to take some MAJOR excavation to open up the area above the lava lake. Time to go visit my drops grinder and stock up on gunpowder and dig up a ton or 2 of sand.
Check Docm77 and Ethos Youtube videos, all my traps are modified versions of theirs.
I have an xp farm, and for some reason it only works at night time. I made the one show here: .
His works at daytime, but mine does not. I made it out of cobble. I have the Timber mod, Optifine and Rei's mini-map. Any help? Thanks.
You have light leaks inside your structure, you may have to demolish and rebuild some areas or it, Sorry, you will have to be inside the spawn area during daytime to find them.
Doesn't appear to be compatible with Rei's Minimap.
Already had the minimap installed, copied the class into the jar, and the village mod works but Rei's Minimap no longer works. Any chance of a workaround to make the two compatible?
Thanks much, the mod has been a great help, I can run Villageinfo or Rei's but not both. They have the same .class file name.(aow.class). Would love to use them at the same time if possible.
These both now have the same .class file name now, aow.class. Is there anyway to get them to work at the same time. They worked together in the past.
Thanks.
Trying to move several villagers to a new village closer to base and having a terrible time with them warping out of the minecarts and back about 70 to 80 blocks, when I push the carts back, they will reappear in the carts, any suggestions or fixes ? I need to move them about 1500 blocks and this is not going well. Thanks.
Ok, minecarts are not working, can't go 100 blocks without the villagers warping back 50 or 60 blocks. Zombies chasing for 1500 blocks is simply not practical. I hate to have to switch to Creative to accomplish this move, Anyone out there have a clue why the minecarts are not working ?
I have a flushing trap with a spawn floor at 205 that is running like a Boss but would like to add a piston pusher trap above it to add Enderman to the mix. I want to have them killed or near death by drop damage and passing through a lava level and end up near my current collection spot on level 200 to be killed with a few hits or collect drops from those that die from fire or fall damage. So, my question is, what is the maximum level that Enderman will spawn at above my current trap ? I have searched and read many posts and have failed to find a definitive answer.
Alas. 0,0 means nothing now, my sky to lava tower stands abandoned. At this point bigger is better as far a s surface area goes up to 144 x 144. I use terraces and water to funnel the mobs down to a 16 x 16 drowning / cactus ( for spiders ) trap. My terraces are 8 wide with channels at least every 3 blocks that feed to the next terrace down and a 2 block drop off so the mobs can only go one way. Keep in mind, no spawn within a 24 radius of you. Eliminate all alternative spawn points in your 144 x 144 area with torches, water, or by building your trap out that far out.

Yesterday, I tried to install a texture pack using WinRAR. However, when i tried to do this, I accidentally had Minecraft open. Next thing I knew, Minecraft said that it crashed. Now whenever I try to go onto Minecraft Alpha, it shows on the loading screen the words "Done Loading" while the bar is not fully green yet. It never finishes loading the page. I've tried this on multiple browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, Interent Explorer, etc.), and it does the same on all of them. I have checked my files on my computer and found that my saved files are still on my computer's hard drive. What do I do? Is this possible to fix. If not, is it possible to copy and paste these saved files to my other computer? Please help me.
Backup your save files, uninstall Minecraft, reinstall and start so it will create a savegame folder. Close and substitute your savegame backup for the newly created savegame.
Say I have a giant rock floor above my spawn (which I do) it is about 40-50 spaces above. Can mobs spawn there? There is no light in it and I was just wondering if mobs could spawn anywhere above you or your spawn if there are blocks and the proper darkness is met.
My experience would lead me to say yes, I have 4 floors in my trap now, 2 at seabed level that are about 80 x 80, flat conveyor mover rooms, they are connected to my 2 lava level rooms by a drop-shaft I can monitor. my two lava level rooms will be 144 x 144 with a terraced water conveyor system when complete, still working on the lowest room.
The spawn in the lower rooms is huge but I still get a good flow coming down the drop-shaft from the rooms at seabed.
Yes .I had no idea that any saved info was there. I had no saves showing so I started back in the World 1 save slot with no knowledge that any info was there, My original save was # 1 as well. I assumed I was starting over with a newly generated map.

Or, this is the ultimate drop or xp trap, it is a MAJOR engineering project.
