i used netherbrick on the roof because regular wooden stair would have just blended in with everything else, until i can get some stair variations it'll have to do :D as for the decorating, that is to personal taste. i hate empty rooms XD

this is my second structure on my new island home. A fairly decent log cabin. :D

I built a multiple level front porch, and put the whole cabin on pylons.

This is a view of the back patio that overlooks the beach and ocean.

A side view of the cabin showing the chimney and angled roof.

This is the fireplace and a piece of the den.

The other half of the sitting area.

A sunset view from the bedroom loft. :)

Also, how do I make the images into the spoiler thing?

    and thx for lookin' !

posted a message on Refreshed server, new seed, new start.
    Hellos minecrafting fellows!

I just recently wiped my server and re-rolled the seed! As a matter of fact, I used the seed featured here on the forums that starts you on a really great island with smaller barrier islands around it. Although I do miss my floating castle, this new seed is just brimming with potential! This is my first structure built, a lighthouse on one of the islands points. Its a simple lighthouse, made of mostly sandstone, with netherstone for roofing. The light upon the top of the lighthouse is made of glowstone. I tested many redstone wire/torch/switch combinations for hours but could not come up with a functional on/off switch controlled light. Any constructive building comments are more than welcome!

    Thanks for the View,
    HeAvYMeTaLRoNiN

I did a little research on MC before i actually started playing so I was aware of what creepers do. My first encounter i was trapped between a creeper and a cliff. I dove off just to deny the creeper the satisfaction of killing me. lol.

posted a message on My Floating Castle
After quite a few centuries of neglect, a young noble named Alukard devised a plan to capture the rogue fortress. His two part plan enabled the inhabitants of Kronus (Kronus being the name given unto the planet as a whole) to ensnare and affix the Castle Rottingham to its current position. Alukard died as a King among Kings. Benevolent and Just.
There actually is a tomb of King Alukard hidden within the castle. It contains over 64 diamonds and 64 gold. and bones arranged in the shape of a human corpse. i may have buried a few epic enchanted weapons. I do not really recall the details of Alukard's burial cerimony...

Edit: When i came up with the lore of Alukard, I did not realize what it spelled backwards. huh. weird...

Interesting story, but perhaps change the name of the castle? It is a bit.. mm.. sad/dis-glorious for such a grand construct.

It was bestowed the name Rottingham because a large number of the invading army was caught within the walls when the levitation spell took effect. The remnants of the opposing force were too fearful to end their own life by leaping to the ground below, and as such, starved to death or murdered their brothers in arms out of desperation. As the castle began its solemn, morbid orbit around the surface of the planet, the winds in its wake smelled of the rotting flesh of the soldiers trapped inside. The peasants jokingly dubbed it "Castle Rottingham, The Court of the Damned". A name which is still synonymous to the fortress to this day.

Edit: Corrected a few grammatical mistakes.

My apologies for using the word 'lazily,' but it is a bit silly for people to put all that effort to creating a thread and then they don't embed the photos. I had responded because no one had at that point, and the thread was sinking to the bottom of the page, so I figured it would be best to tell the OP that so that they would embed the pictures and get the proper recognition they deserve, thank you very much.

As for the build itself? What can I say? Other than I adore it! ^_^

I love the chains the best, it is as if the island is threatening to fly away and all that holds it down are those well-done chains.

Well the lore of my land is as follows... The castle was first constructed 347 years after the advancement of written language, under the rule of King Amadeus Asmodeus, It wasnt until almost 200 years later that a wizard in the prime of his extended life, and in service to the crown, cast a spell that cost him his life. Caught under the sword of a superior, invading army, the mystical man cast a spell of levitation upon the entire castle itself. The sheer mass of the castles bulk demanded not just consumable mana, but the wizards life as collateral. Still he gave it willingly, sending the echo of his incantation reverberating through every last corridor of the castle. The castle lurched and shook from its ancestral grounds and began to float freely upon the planets magnetic lines. It wasnt until almost 300 years after the event known as the "grand levitation" that the castle was wrangled into place and chained in place by an ambitious young royal known as Alukard. Alukard is credited as the man who captured Castle Rottingham (Rottingham being the name bestowed upon the hovering fortress) in one place, and is also known for spreading his ideals and philosophy far into the land.

Hey HeavyMR. You'll get more replies if you embed the pics, or at least more replies that are actually about your build. You can embed them by clicking the Image button - the one that looks like a polaroid photo. Then when it asks for the url, enter the direct link to the image on photobucket and it'll appear in your post.

I always enjoy a build on a floating island, but I'd prefer to see a few more curves. At the moment, your outer wall is pretty square, and the way that it nicely fits the island makes it seem like the island was built to suit the castle rather than the other way round. Other than that, good job.

I see what your sayin about the land made to fit the castle. but thats how i wanted it to look. The dirt itself isn't enchanted, but the castle itself. i debated this with myself for a while and i decided to make the ground underneath to contour the castle, not the reverse. in my own personal lore, the castle was enchanted to fly by a crackpot old wizard and the magical field that ensued started from the outer wall inward. while a portion of the main courtyard survived the upheaval, most of the earth outside the wall failed to make the transition. This was the idea that i originally started builing with, and thats what i stuck with. just a part of my own imagination realized by digital blocks. take it as it is. :P
