Take note that it is not "build-ready". Since I don't have any idea how to make multiple projects/mod files work with each other (hey now, I am not a professional coder), I just use a build.gradle file with a lot of exclude lines to compile it into separate .jars.
pls don't hurt me because of the crappy coding ._.
Hey now, we don't really need to go violent for just a mod lol. Yeah, I'm giving permission to anyone (shortybsd?) to provide a hotfix for the mod while I'm out.
I'm not interested in modding Minecraft (and playing it) at the moment. Who knows, maybe 1.9 adds stuff that IS ACTUALLY new or innovative to make the game interesting again and make me comeback. Anyway, blame Witcher 3 for the time being.
Thank you everyone for notifying me of this, and I'm sorry for being slow to update it.
Anyway, I would appreciate it if someone can compile reported bugs since the last update. Just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
In 1.8 news:
I'm somewhat satisfied of how the apple tree works and looks right now. They currently only spawn sideways because of metadata (16) limitation. I'm thinking of adding another apple block that will spawn underneath leaves to lessen the patterned/repeating look.
AND ONE MORE THING. It looks like a lot, really a lot, of players/modders will stay by at 1.7.x at the meantime. While I do support moving forward with the game, I can't just leave those who chose to stay behind hanging. Because this, I've decided to also port future stuff to 1.7.10
I most certainly wouldn't ask you to backport any additions to the mod to 1.7.10, and I usually wouldn't even ask this, but will you continue to address bugs for that version? Normally I'm all for moving on to the latest minecraft version, but that isn't going to happen with 1.8. Seems most major mods are waiting for 1.9 for various reasons.
with what the last guys said I feel the same. I still love this game and I love your mod but I really am just not felling 1.8 nor do I think most modders are at this point also. Your one of the top mods I wait for to update but I just don't think I will until I know 1.9 is really going to happen. As of now I have a few mods that add everything 1.8 adds anyways so I see no point in updating as of right now
Yep, I'll be (or will try to) fixing bugs from 1.7.x. I started Growthcraft back then because I want to add stuff to my 1.5.x singleplayer world. There were/are mods that aslo made things like this but all failed to provide what I need/like (I'm quite picky). Same reason why I want to update this to 1.8, my current singleplayer world is getting boring.
Is that apples growing inside the leaves? Is this going to replace current apple trees or are apples going to grow both inside and on the bottoms of leaves?
Yes, it's a work-in-progress apple tree.
I plan it (and future fruit trees/bushes) to look something like this (credits Zynga):
or this (credits developers of Towns):
So as you can see, the one I posted earlier didn't really meet up to my expectations, so I'll be scratching that or rework with it.
Designing the apple tree to look like something 'realistic' or 'stereotypical' is harder than what you might expect. Yes, there's already a lot of apple tree mods out there and they all fall to one of the following categories:
Apple leaves with apple in its texture. Will drop apples when right-clicked/destroyed.
A block of apple hanging below a leaf block. Destroying will yield apple.
The first one doesn't stand out that much (can be read as "not very unique in relation to vanilla minecraft stuff") and the second one doesn't feel right at all (yes, my current apple mod looks a bit stupid now that I think of it).
I still have a lot of ideas about how the apple tree will look and work, but they are all just in paper. I'll try them all out and hope that something will look right.
ps: Grapes, hops, rice, bamboo, bees, and cellar all went through the same rigorous designing phase before being released.
The new coding changes for 1.8 already took a lot of time (at least) for me to understand. Reverting them back to 1.7.x coding will take more time that I could've used for improving the mod.
I've been planning to create four different settlements (my main residence, lumber mill, mine, and farm) connected by roads/railroads. Since I haven't heard anything about the development of 1.8 forge, I might start even without growthcraft, I'll just find a way to add this without using world generation when 1.8 forge kicks in.
For some reason, wikispaces is not permanently free anymore. That sucks. Anyway, I just activated the 30-day trial of the wiki and it will expire on December 21. In the meantime, I'll be looking for an alternative (that is free) to host Growthcraft wiki.
p.s. I'm still waiting for a 1.8 version of forge.
While waiting for a 1.8 version of Forge, I've been learning Skyrim modding. This doesn't mean I'll be quitting Minecraft (and modding it). I'm still playing it despite the drama happening all over the game.

No.
Only for a short time, I just needed to grab the content so I can transfer to another wiki hosting site.

I'll see what I can do this time regarding other mods.

Because I can't just sit here doing nothing while waiting for Game of Thrones.
(take note that this is still work-in-progress so please dont hurt me)
(oh and Growthcraft 3 won't be just a 1.7->1.8 update, i'll be adding new stuff around)
(ETA: will be ready sometime before May)
(oh and also, Cellar wont be updated in the meantime because AFAIK forge fluids is currently disabled)
