Trying out the beta (5.1.0b4 specifically), and the performance seems to be less of a hit (as in not a 50% fps drop) than before. Not bad. A few questions though:
E: poking around it seems the image files were created, they're just blank. Couldn't find a bug tracker, so I guess this thread will have to do.
E2: looks like instead of writing the data for day surface mapping, it wrote data for cave mapping instead..?
E3: works properly in 5.0.1
- Is there a way to have the day/night toggle be more intelligent, or even automatic? When switching from cave view to outside view, it appears to pick between day/night at random.
- "Antialiasing" is enabled for cave view, yet for every vertical chunk it still completely redraws the map, even displaying the mode switch icon. Is this just beta being beta or am I doing something wrong?
- Looking at the screenshots, is there a way to configure the contrast for height/lighting changes to be less extreme?
- Can mob icons be disabled as a whole, leaving just the rotating pointers?
