posted a message on What is the stupidest thing you've done on your survival world?

I thought the inventory saves on toomanyitems were game save slots, so when one of my friends was over I clicked "save" then we proceeded to take turns building random stuff out of everything I had. By the end of it we were using creative mode to try out all the planes in the planes mod, and finished off by using the bomber on my house and farm and all of our buildings.

When I clicked "load" nothing happened. I thought "huh" and then restarted the game, still nothing. It took both of us a second to realize what happened and he just started laughing at me.

posted a message on Shields are far too overpowered.

This guys already playing way harder than most people do, the way he immediately starts looking for seeds in the grass. I play pretty leisurely, and most of my iron ends up going to armor and an anvil.

I really liked Sharpe103's ideas about durability!

That all sounds skill based, your ability to dodge attacks and scout for iron negate your need for a shield.

posted a message on Who else loves the new crafting UI?

I'm right with you there on not needing to alt-tab. I just did this for making daylight sensors. I initially thought it would be more like the mod, where you have to craft a book in order for it to be considered the "crafting book", but having it built into the game is just as nice!

posted a message on Shields are far too overpowered.

Being overall bulky, slowing your movement, blocking 1/4 of your view, and taking up your offhand make up for their tactility in my opinion. Also taking up iron, which is pretty valuable. The ability to negate the projectile/explosion damage relies on your own reaction speed, so it's not a guaranteed block & there's always a chance you could miss.

I would really, really like to see them be made enchantable though. I know knockback and flame can be added manually, but those enchantments and maybe thorns would be really useful on a shield. but THENNNNN it could get overpowered.

Also, like most games, Minecraft is meant to be played on hardmode. Anything less is just giving yourself a break. :D

posted a message on I am asking the Minecraft Community for HELP!

I used to work at a hotel, and every night I had to send an email to the business owner. One night, when I tried to send the emails, I found ADULT PHOTOS of one of the co-workers on the office computer! I tried reporting it to the manager, and the manager didn't do anything about it. Later, I demanded that I don't have to work with the person who was in the photos because it made me feel uncomfortable, and I WAS FIRED.

I can't find a job because of it. Unemployment didn't go through because I was fired for "inability to comply & complete the work" It has been about a month and I am getting desperate. My sister is letting me live in her basement, but my old landlords are still hounding me for rent PLUS the utility bills that still have to be paid. If anyone is willing and has the assets to help, here's my gofundme page

    https://www.gofundme.com/qcuhbz-wrongly-fired-and-i-need-rent

I hate asking for free money, but it's been about a month. I've been told by a few people that I shouldn't be looking for rent, but taking donations to help pay for a lawyer and retrieve those photos as evidence. I never wanted it to get this far! I was worried about the girl in the photos so I wanted the manager to delete them! If anyone can't donate, can you please share my page around so more eyes can see it, and maybe more people will be able to help. Most of this is for my roommate, who is still trying to work to pay off the rest of the rent.

Thank you to anyone who has read this far!!!

posted a message on Iron Nuggets? For What?

I see it as a last resort for any tools that are too expensive to repair, but will break in one more hit. Might as well turn them into 1/9th of an iron ingot and make it useful.

posted a message on We were all noobs once. What is your minecraft noob story?

this is a perfect minecraft experience. No tutorial made it so much fun.

I remember playing classic version on the website and just wondering "what is this?" when it loaded up a 256x256 world. Jumping around the broken landscape was neat, and the trees were so cool because they were made out of the same grid as the world. The first cave I found was amidst a bunch of mulched up dirt, so I thought it was just part of the breakage. But later, I found a cave entrance on the side of a hill and it felt a lot more mysterious. No torches, the map was on fullbright and view distance stuck on tiny. The fog in the cave was white and blocks would fade in just in front of me, I was just slowly tapping W while looking around, wondering how deep under this hill the cave went. After a little bit I got brave, and since the map was on fullbright I just walked straight into the cave and at the bottom, was a red mushroom!

A year or so later, I watched some videos of the beta version and seeing redstone pistons got me. Along with pigs. I bought a giftcard with some birthday money and bought an account, and on my first day I had to run around until I found a creeper. Just for laughs. Of course, no mobs spawn on the first day. So, this resulted in me looking for more caves to relive the minecraft classic experience (finding the mushroom). The maps in this version weren't fullbright, and they were much, much larger than classic version (I think I started at about 1.7 Beta) so I immediately ran back out of the cave. I punched some sheep and remember trying to dye wool. I am also a victim of rapidly clicking a block and wondering why it wouldn't break.

At night I just dug a 1x2 hole in a dirt wall and waited. I remember hearing Zombies and knowing what they were from youtube videos, but the skeleton and spider sounds freaked me out. When I saw the skeletons later I got excited because that meant there were bows, and seeing the spiders animations was neat because of the detail. I started paying attention to the other details like the wool on sheep, and different textures in the stone (which was gravel) and this time, since it was the next day, creepers had spawned! So I looked for one, remembered what I wanted to do yesterday and ran up to the first one and stood next to it. The sound made me lol. I looked at the death screen because seeing the block damage blew my mind, and I wanted to mess with TNT next. Then I wondered, "What are points? How do I get more?"

The rest of my memories are reading up on the wikipedia and getting excited for whenever I would find diamonds. The Nether is a whole other story.

posted a message on Which version of Minecraft do you think is the best and why ? (Poll)

It's a big fight between 1.7.1 (After potions, before rabbits)
Or 1.9. When you still had to crouch to sweep attack. It felt a lot more tactile.

posted a message on Death from starving at AFK fish farm

i bet the numbers are off by some amount, so it usually lines up with affecting the hunger before the health, but you AFK'd long enough to reach the point where the health is affected first, kind of like when traffic lights blink back and forth.

posted a message on Why does it get more expensive to repair weapons and tools accordingly?

Repairing wasn't initially in the game. It was a way of extending tools that were useful, using XP as a reward system. You're not supposed to have the best enchantments last forever, it gives you a reason to keep playing after it breaks.
