Again, a double post
Here is a new rendition of the Venus Flytrap like mob:
As you can tell, the alpha on its leaves (which are now feather-leaves. Whatevah.) isn't working in Blender 2.5. Anyone here know how to render with alpha?
On another note, does this better suite the Aether?
Sorry for double posting, but here is a mockup of a kind of "Venus Flytrap" Esque mob:
Note that this is WIP, and doesn't yet have proper base leaves (they are just planes for now, but next they will look like proper leaves)
It's adorable! However, it doesn't seem to fit with the Aether... so we need to change that. Any ideas?
I could make it seem Aether like color-wise. Perhaps Instead of a stem It could have clouds that it floats on (so the only way to harvest its leaves is to fly with something)
Now that is a cool plant.... but its more of a mob now isn't it?
Yeah, its supposed to be. Perhaps some kind of rare occurrence where during chunk generation it plops down a group of these. They could drop something useful that can be used to tame animals in the Aether. I honestly have no clue, but I was pretty damn bored.
Edit: Perhaps they can drop Aether Leaves () that can be used to craft an assortment of things. w
I'm using plain planes instead of voxels now :B just like the Ghast uses for it's... appendages? It's less of a butterfly wing now as well.

Hey Grey! I just added my vote to make your summary one of the best points and it is now above that silly octopus thing! :biggrin.gif: I figured you would be happy about this.
Wonderfull, you're a hero. It's dangerous to go alone, take this :
This is what I wanted when I made the WIP, but had to do it in a hurry (three minutes anyone?). I vote for this Phyg, as It fits what the Phyg should be.
(So instead of my mockup this should go up. Ok, done.)
oh, I thought your original post meant "it shouldn't be implemented" due to the use of "When pigs fly", which under normal circumstances means it should, or will, never happen.
Anyway, they should drop cold meat that will have to be thawed to eat.
Onto other Aether subjects...
Water should freeze, since the Aether is presumably at a high altitude. Due to less oxygen from the height, staying outside for too long would harm you. (some kind of really slow variation on the drowning system) If the player is in the Aether for long periods of time, he gets used to the low oxygen level and would go about as normal. When back on the overworld the player would be capable of faster movement from the new above average amount of oxygen.
