I'm working on a Zombie-Survival-RPG in Minecraft using the power of Spout. Players will be able to kill Zombies who drop money, and use the money to purchase guns. Simple right?
There's tons of other details you can find about the server and it's progress on my secondary Tumblr: http://zombiegame.tumblr.com/
Soon I'll be looking for staff maybe and some more information on hosting, but right now I need some serious builders. Anyone looking to take a break from ******** fantasy architecture and willing to try out a skyscraper or a office building is welcome to apply for a builder position. As you may have noticed, we do use Spout so you need to have a Spoutcraft client. Custom blocks, guns, textures packs and anything else needed will be loaded upon joining.
Send me a message of some of your work and how I can contact you. Building a modern day city inside and out is a bit of a task for 3 builders alone haha.
One last thing, anyone with other information or who feels like they can be an asset to the server production is also welcome to contact me. That included texture pack artists, plugin developers and server hosters. Thanks.
I like the idea of Canyons/ravines in the game, it adds depth, and make great places to build bases. They should add more geographical things like it, such as Volcanos, or deltas where clay is a big more common.
As far as them ruining progression, I completely disagree. Yeah, you might be able to get harder to find resources like diamonds somewhat easier, but it doesn't take away the challange of it all. You still need to be able to navigate down and back up in one piece with the loot. And If it makes you feel better, most ravines link into cave systems where you can dig further and further. It also added "Cliff Mining" into the game, where you burrow little tunnels alongside the cliff wall to get resources along it. They're great but that's just my two cents.
I like this idea, but I'd also like it if I could set the explosion radius to be freaking huge and blow the ores to hell, cos' I really want some kinda big underground city but I can never be bothered to mine a space for one...
There are massive ravines running underground now, that project shouldn't be too hard with a friend or two.
I guess you could if you really wanted to. I just think TNT is under-powered as it is and we should be able to manually increase the power or even decrease the power. (for projects like land mines etc.)
Also, the drop rate should be increased, now only a tiny portion of what was blown up actually drops anything. Maybe not 100%, but more than it is now.
@Endersworld: I think shaped charges would be interesting, but kind of pointless. It's already possible to make a barrier in certain areas around TNT and then have the blast only go in one direction (using liquid or obsidian).
@Flashrebel: I've taken a quick look at your topic and I'll reply to it in a bit, I really like the TNT stick idea. (It's like a grenade! yay.)
Neither of those ideas would increase the practicality of using TNT to mine unless Blast resistances are changed, however.
I couldn't find any other threads suggesting this so I decided to make my own.
I had a bit of a realization the other day,
TNT is one of the most useless items in the game.
Any sort of use for TNT can quickly be shown to be impractical save for maybe one.
You can blow **** up. And by blow **** up, I mean you blow everything up.
For those of you who don't know, the only blocks that are going to survive a TNT charge are Liquid Source Blocks, Obsidian and of course, Bedrock. You can't use it to blow away chunks of dirt or stone in order to reach more valuable resources (like real miners did) because the resources will be completely fried in the process if they were in the blast zone.
TNT doesn't have much use in Creative servers either aside from a grieving tool or a way to kill your friend who you encased in Obsidian.
Anyway, I didn't make this post in the suggestion forum to simply *****. There are ways to make TNT more practical (and effective) for both creative and survival servers. I think we can achieve this by reworking how the block interacts with other blocks.
1. Change the blast resistances of valuable blocks. This doesn't mean Nerf TNT into the ground, it just means that when you decide to clear a nice area with some TNT, your Diamonds, Iron and Gold haven't been blown halfway to hell.
Some of you are probably thinking, "Why not just mine?"
It's true, the current TNT explosion radius doesn't make it a great alternative to mining even with rework #1.
This bring me to rework #2 :]
2. Allow players to set the power of the TNT charge. Simply, more gunpowder, larger explosion radii. This would not only let miners on welfare budget their way into a diamond deposit, but would also let people who have more complex uses for TNT (such as land mines, or whatever people do with TNT) have one more variable of control.
I would say increasing or decreasing the radius by a block or two per gunpowder should suffice. Nuclear bombs in Minecraft is not my priority. I just want to make TNT a bit more convenient and specialized for us, the miners and with these two reworks we would be able to hollow larger areas of mines without destroying important blocks.
Give me some feedback on what you think about this suggestion and or the current state of TNT.
Thanks.

Truly outrageous.

This is a great idea also.
