It's an opinion thread, and I always respect opinions, but there's some reasons I see that don't quite line up to how it's Mojang's fault.
This is the first major problem. You already went through the addictive phase, a phase where you just keep consuming your favorite product. Have you ever heard the saying that, "The worst thing Satan can do to you in hell is play your favorite song for an eternity?" If you wonder what that means, it's that you will enjoy your favorite song at first, but over time, and constantly listening to it, you will grow tired of it to the point you will despise it, then, if forced, grow to despair it. Minecraft is the same thing. It has not changed since Alpha, the core part of the game is still there, but you've reached a point of fatigue that would happen for any game.
Mojang can't control what servers do. This is not their fault, not even the slightest.
Nor should it be. Think about it, if Mojang stopped updating and released Minecraft say, back when it was Beta and entirely forgot about it, how quickly do you think it'll last? Putting nostalgia reasons behind, you can see that the game has to grow in order to be successful. Minecraft did not get as big as it did because it sat around and just let mods do all the work, no, Mojang kept updating the game and adding to it. This is new content that makes stuff fresh. Even with all these new layers, the core of the game is still the same as ever before. I don't see how a simple Minecraft would last long.
Which I said before, this is entirely out of Mojang's control and is not their fault.
And it rightfully so is a spectacular game. The most successful Indie game known, still selling 14+K per day, it is truly a success by all means. However, I think your reasoning to what's wrong with Minecraft is poor as none of the reasons is really a fault of the game nor Mojang. I will respect the fact you grew tired of the game, as I have too, but, the main reason it got boring for me is because I played it constantly non-stop like you did. It drained me, and this was not the fault of Minecraft. Mojang is actually making a smart move right now buffing how hard the game is, as it's now more challenging, but not everyone likes challenges, so I guess it's not the same for all.
This doesn't explain why you think Minecraft is dead. This explains why you think it's not good anymore.
Minecraft is far from dead. All of it's sales are still increasing, the fanbase is still growing. Updates are still being pumped out, and they're great.
Yeah I just changed the title to fit the topic better, also im not a big fan of the new updates. Some are good but others I hate
Ehhhh, I kind of agree with you but with the new plug-ins and updates you have a broader range of things to do. I like the new Minecraft.
I do like the new plugins, but its just the change of everything i guess. I dont really know how to explain it.
AlsoI know the game is nottechnically dead. I am mainly talking about the old minecraft and how the game has changed A LOT and probably a bit to much to the point were it doesnt really feel the same anymore.
Hello, my name is Flurry33 and I have been playing minecraft since Alpha (The Nether Update 2010). I remember buying this game and playing it non-stop for hours. I played this game just about everyday I could by myself and with friends untill xbox minecraft was released. This game was truly amazing with awesome multiplayer servers untill mid Beta(I guess you could say) when potions and other things were released. The game is no longer simple minecraft. It seems like multiplayer has gone downhill from to many plugins and hackers. Honestly if you are a player since 2010 you will probably understand what I mean. Minecraft is still an enjoyable game to play but I really dont think its as good as it once was. I guess you could also say that good old minecraft is dead, and new minecraft is, well, just new. also everyone knows about the game now. Honestly this game is still amazing and a complete genius concept of a game. I am looking forward to future Mojang games. I also still play tekkit from time to time.
Hi, my friend and I are planing to start a small Tekkit town survival server, but we need help. First of all we need a small good server host for about 20 slots, also we might need a bit of help with plugins and such.
First we need a good server host if you know any that are good it would help a lot.
