Well, that pretty much confirm my own observation. Also, is it possible that the behavior of the pressure plate has changed? Mob used to spawn on pressure plate but I filled a room with pressure plate and made it the only place for mob to spawn and I've got absolutely no spawn at all in that room. When I prepare an exact same room beside, with no pressure plate then it fills up with mob?
I'm having an issue here with a basic mob tower that doesn't work at all when it should, at least, I think it should.
Tower is built at level 180, more than 128 blocs from the surface of the world. The spawn zone is 20 per 20 with a + canal 2 wide with water. You see, basic. The spawn zone is also at level 206 so 26 blocs away from where I stand.
I know this is not optimal spawn tower but still.
After 10 minutes of patient waiting, I kill 3 to 5 skeletons and the tower is empty and can remain empty for quite some time until a creeper/zombie/skeleton get to spawn, clearly, not worth the numerous hours spent building it on survival! I have also some half-slab layed at strategic point to prevent spiders from spawning.
I am currently playing on a small server with 2 to 10 players, max, at a time. Further, during the evening I am almost alone and still, no spawn. I do the same structure in creative in my sandbox and keep killing mobs that doesn't stop falling in my trap.
Do you guys have any idea what can prevent my zone from spawning.
Wow, urielsalis, that was fast reply. I just had an intuition and started Minecraft without using Forge (disabling all mods) and what used to crash is now working fine so I suspect one of the few mods I have install. Please suspend this thread for the moment, I will be back later.
I would like to know, what is the minimal space requirement, 1.11.2 to spawn Slimes. I have restricted to 8x8x3 in a slime chunk and I can't get no slime at all in that chunk anymore.
I do not believe in ocelot, I think they're fake and nonexistent! I have been wandering in jungle for two days now witout any sight or hearing of one. I have tried to stay in one place, fishing but to no avail ...
I will try building a large settlement though to maximize the chance to make them real :O).... I so much hate the creepers that I need ocelot but I prefer not to revert to cheat to get one ...
Well, from 2012 to 2017, this thread is one of the best I could find regarding Nether Fortresses, good call answering the question over 5 years, reasons I like forums and threads like this one... always usefull. Thanks
I'm new to this huge world and particularily on PC with all the mods.
I would like to know if there is a way to make some cheats persistent. For example, I'm using the keepInventory mode, how can I make it persistent upon game save and load? Same with the spawnpoint?

Well, as per the doc I've read and mob farm I have watched they used to not block spawning, obviously, that changed.

Bonjour,

Is this a know value and how could I validate?

They might be a little bit too rare though!
