posted a message on World Downloader Mod
Seeing people saying they have this working with 1.7.10

Could someone tell me how? I can only get 1.7.2 to work. 1.7.9 crashes as the game launches and 1.7.10 won't even go past the launcher.

posted a message on If Mojang stopped updating Minecraft, what would you do?
I'd be happy because we finally could have a stable modding and server plugin library. Its obnoxious for everything to have to be constantly updated again. A lot of us are still on 1.7.10 since our mods and servers aren't up to 1.8. and its like this with every big release.

This might be stating the obvious, but are you allocating enough ram? I'd get crashes when using shaders alongside matmos and texture packs or things would stop working/ fail to load. Doubling from 1gb to 2gb ram fixed all that.

This TP looks so great with shaders, particularly SEUS and Cuda.

Only complaint is the sandstone, smooth sandstone, sand, and carpet/ wall textures. They look pretty bad when it comes to actually building. Sandstone might be okay, but the smooth sandstone, sand, and wool textures aren't smooth enough.

Not sure how to edit specific textures in TPs anymore, but I still use it anyways because its a nice pack overall.

Been running this on 1.7.10 for a while. No problems except one thing. Whenever it rains, the sound of rain doesn't stop unless I log in and out of the world.

posted a message on Looking for a community-driven PVE survival server
Hey, I'm a 22 year old female that's been playing MC off and on since Beta 1.6. I'd like to get back into MineCraft, but none of my friends are really interested and singleplayer is dull.

I've been trying out lots of servers and its always the same thing. A bunch of people all off doing their own thing with minimal interaction and the occasional chat message.
While I like to work on my own place, I'd also like more community elements where people actually do things together.

Anyone know of any servers that might fit?
Also, prefer a mature community over 12 year old admins.

You can easily disable them with a server plugin or mod.

posted a message on Minedlands -- The Vanilla Server You've Always Wanted [1.11.2]
Server seems good, but the world is so cluttered. While I like to be involved with other people, I do like to have an unexplored cozy area to live in. So after about 2 hours of exploration I finally found such.. Unfortunately with no commands or ways to teleport to other people no one will ever come out here to see any of the things I build which kind of defeats the purpose of MP for me.

Oh well. Anyone wanna' tell me what the plugin is for the tree gravity? Quite liked that.

posted a message on What if there were guns in Minecraft?
A flintlock pistol or musket could be cool. However, there shouldn't be hitscan and there should also be some big drawbacks to using them such as very limited amounts of ammo that's hard to get as well as a slow reload time. Just something that leaves the bow and sword viable.

With that said, I think that the game needs more basic combat weapons before guns. Even though its more sandbox-focused, we could really use some extra combat options since there's only two. Battle axes, spears, crossbows, etc. would be a nice addition. If we had more things like that then I think guns could be more welcomed.

    edit:
looks like there's a mod for all of this.

Also, funny how this thread http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2252083-what-about-muskets has the opposite poll results.

Open Broadcast is free and works pretty well with the right settings. I find the performance drop from using it much less than Fraps.

You'll just have to stick with version 1.7.10 for now.

posted a message on What mods can you simply not live without
Optifine, Shaders, Matmos, Presence Footsteps, & Rei's Minimap are all I use regularly. I probably wouldn't bother playing without them. Matmos + Shaders just add so much atmosphere to the game. Going back to vanilla after that just feels really dull and lifeless.

I think I'm much more dependent on server plugins though.

posted a message on Will Bukkit Continue?
You can get ahold of Bukkit still if you really want.1.7.10 seems to be where most things are at right now. Once that changes Bukkit will probably die out.

Also, Spigot also shut down from the same reason as Bukkit.
I've a feeling Sponge will be the next Bukkit if it lives up to the hype.

OP your GPU is considerably weaker than your girlfriend's card. You spent more on the CPU end than you did on the GPU end, because of this your system is unbalanced.

and all three of you misread my post completely x.x

I appreciate those trying to help, but let me clear this up.
My PC isn't the one I'm talking about having the major problems.
Yes my GPU is weak and my resolution is high in comparison, but for what its capable of it does okay and this card was honestly great for the price a couple years back. I would like to upgrade it eventually, but I've never had any problems running any new releases.
Maybe my setup doesn't run as well as it should, but I don't have any noticeable issues with it and am satisfied with the performance I get.

So as I said, this isn't about my PC. I only talked about my PC to compare it to my girlfriends - the one that's having issues.
I was trying to explain that while her GPU is much better, I'm getting better performance at times.

As said before, your GF's build's CPU isn't up to par with her GPU.

    Quote from JohnOptegrove

    Probably a major CPU bottleneck.

    @both
Thanks will look into this :)
I was under the impression that the 8150 was a more powerful CPU than mine.

someone else was saying that the AMD CPU gets its power from the high amount of cores and that some games don't utilize them all.
