posted a message on Engineer's Toolbox - Now with programmable sockets

1.7.10 downloads are available on curseforge (as well as github for the last few releases). There's a curseforge wiget in the first post of this thread I believe, but there may be a few other broken links in that post. I'm planning on re-writing it soon, as it hasn't really been updated since the 1.6.4 versions.

There's no longer an official wiki, instead there's an official manual which can be found here:
    http://spearmanstudios.com/mods/handbook/et-handbook-1.0.0.pdf

The new features introduced in 1.2.3.0 aren't documented in the manual yet, but there's informal documentation here:

But what exactly does it do that would cause some ores to spawn but not others?

Is the kiln structure ore dictionary compatible (I mean can I use other mod's limestone to build it and as input) ? Can I make the chances to find shale resources higher? I am at my tablet now so I can't check the cfg and test ingame.

You can't use the limestone from other mods for either. I'll change the grinder recipe for ground limestone to use the ore dictionary in the next version, I won't change anything for the actual structure, but I may add a configurable ore dictionary recipe for the bricks. I'm pretty sure you can't configure the spawn rate of shale resources (you can however configure how much fluid could potentially be in them). I could add an option for configuring the spawn rate in the next version though. Keep in mind that it already spawns quite frequently. Natural gas spawns in 1 in 8 chunks in non-Nether dimensions, oil in 1 in 12 if BuildCraft is installed, and Nether plasma in 1 in 6 nether chunks.

You should open up issues on Github for each of these separately so I remember next time I have time to work on the mod.

The socket frames are destroying blocks that aren't full blocks (chests, pipes, slabs) when moving (or trying to move but obstructed) them while they are attached. They also re-position blocks with inventories(furnace, dispenser, droppers ) to face south when moving.

Edit: Nvm, fixed it by using magnet modules instead

Frames in magnet mode should function the same way as sockets with magnet modules. This is definitely a bug, please report it on Github.

I'm just curious, I'll be fine using all the modules together, but do you plan on releasing them separately again in the future? I love the Defense and Toolbox, but I'm not all that over the moon with Gasses... I played around with Glens's Gasses for about a week since I last played with it WAAAAAAAAAY back in 1.6. I loved the hell out of it, don't get me wrong, but the settling of the gasses caused some nasty lag on my computer (which isn't the best)

Now, if there's a way to disable the module completely via configs, then I think the world can continue to spin freely with its other problems trying to stop it. But you know that there are going to be others DEMANDING that you separate them because their lazy 'tards who expect everything to come to them on a golden platter and have it fed to them on a silver spoon...

Keep of the freeking amazing work, now i'm going to go back to my flatlands work (because its the only one that doesn't cause assloads of lag with the difficulty on QAQ stupid calculator computer) and mine the crap out of it, just to find a few resources :D

(just out of curiosity. Do you think it would be possible to add a bit of compatibility with Ex Nihilo? so we can get the fancy gems? We can get everything else, but its the jems that make it impossible. Maybe they could be crafted? Diamonds seem pretty common (HA!) enough that yo ucould use them to make the gems of which names i've forgotten because I havn't played with your mods since 1.6.4 .3.

They'll never be released separately again as long as I'm maintaining the mod. The gas blocks are definitely not recommended for use with toasters, but as Kirameki mentioned, they can be disabled in the config. The "Allow gas blocks" option alone will destroy any gas blocks as soon as they are added to the world, so there's no reason to turn off any of the other features unless you don't want those specific features. The one issue with that is that there's no way to make steel in the mod at the moment without nether plasma blocks being in the world, so just keep that in mind. All the recipes in Engineer's Toolbox that use steel should be ore dictionary compatible, so you should just be able to use another mod's steel if you've installed such a mod.

I don't know anything about Ex Nihillo. What does it do that causes them not to spawn?

I've just released version 1.2.3.0. It fixes a few minor issues, but much more importantly it adds microcontrollers. These are new modules that can run lua programs from ComputerCraft and OpenComputers disks.

For more information please read this.

Whats up with the Shale Gas spawning, i blew up 20 nukes at bedrock, havent found a single Shale Gas block there :(

It's definitely generating in 1.2.2.0. Keep in mind it's quite rare. There's a 1 in 8 chance of a chunk having a natural gas shale resource, and if it doesn't have one, there's a one in 12 chance of an oil shale resource if BuildCraft is installed. In the nether, there's a 1 in 6 chance a chunk has a Nether plasma shale resource. That may sound high, but compared to ores, it's actually very rare. Also keep in mind that shale resources will only generate if the bottom layer (y = 0) is bedrock. If you generated your world prior to 1.2.2.0, and are currently using 1.2.2.0 or later, all shale resources generated before that time will be gone, but you can re-generate them by changing the "Change to a different value between 1 and 15 inclusive to re-generate shale resources" value in the config file to something other than 1.

Another possibility is that the nukes you're using don't respect unbreakable blocks.

In the future, please use this issue tracker. However, it looks like you're using Java 6. Engineer's Toolbox requires either the latest version of Java 7, or Java 8 (and it should be Java 8 that you install).

Limestone (as well as red sandstone, all the ores, and shale resources) can be generated retroactively by changing an option in the configuration file. It won't generate in the same place as before though.
