Www.plotz.co.uk should help for the roof

This is a great site for any curved features needed. There's actually plans for a full-size Wizards tower on plotz which you can follow if you don't have it built already. Took me forever to get material and build it, but I built it out of obsidian on the first survival server I ever played on. It turned out awesome. :)

Unless you have a beef with the creator, why does it matter? Don't use it if you don't want to...no one is forcing you to like it or use it.

If you or your friends have cheats available or admin controls, you can set "/gamerule doFireTick false" and that will stop fire from spreading and stop fire destroying a block that catches fire.

posted a message on 1.15 massive FPS drop

I wouldn't mess with your computer yet. 1.15 isn't even officially released yet so there may still be some bug fixing/optimization going on yet. I saw someone else mention a big FPS decrease in 1.15 so it's not just you. Wait until 1.15 is official.

posted a message on Questions about defending against sieges and raids

My buddy accidentally walked into our village with the Bad Omen effect. We killed all the pillagers in the raid except the last one and then name-tagged and imprisoned him. Since the previous raid never stopped (since he's still alive), we haven't seen any new raiders or pillagers since. YMMV but it was a nice solution for us.

posted a message on In praise of grindstones

Yeah, I love the grindstone. Fished for 7 hours last Saturday while I was shopping and watching a football game. Came back and had 4 double chest full of stuff. Threw away all the fish and saddles (multiple chests full of those already) and unenchanted all the bows, poles and books (except for the 2 mending books I got) and got almost as much XP as I did fishing in the first place. Careful when unenchanting bows though... I was just clicking away unenchanting stuff and almost threw my good bow in there...lol. Now I just throw it in a chest before I start so I don't grab it by accident.

My friend and I tried a new strategy last night during a raid on our village after he accidentally went there with the Bad Omen effect. We killed all the raiders but had a hard time finding the last pillager. Finally found him inside one of the villager houses. Instead of killing him, I blocked the door with stone. We then threw a nametag on him so he won't despawn and threw some iron bars on the existing windows and a couple windows we added. So now the village is in the constant state of the first raid not being complete so no more have shown up. Not sure if this is going to work or how it should work but it has so far.

This strategy is still working 2 months later. We still have our named Pillager trapped in his cell and even walking into the village with a Bad Omen effect from attacking a Pillager outpost, there is no new raid. It says that the previous raid is still in progress since our prisoner is still alive. Haven't seen another Pillager since...

posted a message on How to stop being scared in doing survival/hardcore?

I have the opposite advice as some of the others here. I learned best to fight monsters when my friends and I built a huge pyramid. We would go in there and groups of mobs would randomly spawn and we'd spend an hour just running around killing mobs. Soon you get used to dodging skeleton shots, or hitting creepers and jumping back before they explode. Zombies are slow and you can just wade in while witches are best taken out with bows to avoid potion shots. Endermen, just find a 2 high edge or ceiling and let them come to you. They can't hit you if you're under something 2-high...hit them in the legs and they won't teleport. You'll learn when to fight, when to run (lots), where to circle around and keep your side or back clear.

Another alternative is to just find a huge plains and do the same thing. Run around and kill mobs at night. If you want to have some help, get a group of dogs to run around with you.

The point is...embrace it. You won't learn if you don't do it.

I'd just start a new flat world in creative, and build a big square building (at least 35 x 35 or bigger) just light up 3 corners and let the mobs spawn in one far corner till you get used to it, then gradually darken another corner and then another and then all of them (just leaving a couple torches here and there to see). Make sure you give yourself armor and weapons like you'd have in a regular survival world and just have fun running around and doing it. Sure you're going to die some, maybe lots, but you'll soon get used to fighting mobs, sometimes (and often) many at the same time.

After a couple times of doing this, when you got back to your real survival world, fighting a mob here or there won't be near as frightening any more and in some cases seem almost easy.

posted a message on Help for nether portals VERY IMPORTANT!!

Nether coordinates are 1/8 of the overworld coordinates. The portals need to be in the corresponding coordinates in order to align correctly.

Write down the coordinates of your overworld portal and divide the x and z coordinates by 8. For example (x-880 and z-1600 would then be x-110 and z-200). Go to the nether and tear down the portal there and rebuild it by hand exactly on those new coordinates. The portals will be properly aligned and you should have no problem going in and out of the correct portals and ending up in the right places. Don't forget to take a flint and steel to relight your new portal... =)

I know someone else will probably reply with a longer answer full of more detail, but this is the gist of it.
