posted a message on game crash on startup and name/skin changed

Go to launch options, select the profile you want to change, then in the JVM arguments box (you may need to flip the switch next to it to enable it) change the first two values, this is what is set on mine:

    -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M

I don't recall ever changing that, so that may be the default. If yours is already that, then there's something else wrong I would guess.

What do you use instead of WASD?

AZQW. Sounds weird, but yeah. Forward is A, backwards is Z, I think there wasn't any strafing back then, so there was no need for any other keys. Forward, back, mouse look and fire weapon. Actually, now I think of it, I didn't even use mouse look, or it wasn't even an option. Maybe arrow keys now I think of it? That sounds right, because I remember the original Wolfenstein 3D used the arrow keys to move/look and the control key to fire. I know that because I broke the control key on my old keyboard from playing those games so much. Then I think it wasn't until one of the first Star Wars FPS games, that I first used mouse look, and by then I was used to A for forward, and Z for backwards, so I just added Q and W for strafing left and right, been stuck on those ever since. WASD just feels weird to me, so that's the first thing I change when I get a new game and it annoys me when they don't have the option to change keys, like in Fallout 4 I had to load a mod to allow me to change the keys to what I wanted.

So, your name, skin and password changed? Did you make those changes? If not, you were hacked, but it wouldn't even let you log on if someone else changed your password.

But for the crash, we'd need to see the crash report, once the launcher comes back, I think it opens the crash report window, if not, there should be a tab for it on the launcher, copy all the info that's there and post it here in a spoiler or use a paste site like pastebin.com and give a link to it here.

posted a message on What are your Key Bindings?

I change almost all the key binds in every game I play. I'm used to a variation of the old Doom layout, before everyone thought WASD was the best thing since sliced bread. I'm used to a certain set of controls and sometimes go to great lengths to change key binds in a new game to what I'm used to. I expect the game to change to what I want, not the other way around.

But the first thing I changed even before I played the game was to take the drop item button off Q. Not just for the reason I use Q for something else, having the drop item button near the movement buttons is just a stupid thing to do. How many times have you watched a video of someone playing and they have to fight something suddenly and miss the W key and hit the Q key by accident and drop their sword? So, I move the drop item button way to the other side of the keyboard where it can't be hit accidentally.

Unable to fit: missingno - size: 16x16 - Maybe try a lower resolution resource pack?

Operating System: Windows XP (x86) version 5.1

Java VM Version: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (mixed mode), Oracle Corporation

Running modded on Windows XP 32 bit with 1GB of RAM? I don't think that will work.

Yes, generally I think the fix is to toggle the VBO setting (in graphics settings I believe) if it's on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on.

Since it works with a VPN and not your normal connection, is there something that may be blocking your connection, either a firewall, something at your ISP, or even something in your country that blocks access to where the server is located? What does a trace route to the server's IP address show?

That's a weird one, can you post a screenshot? The guesses I have offhand are that the transparency is messed up on the texture file or it's formatted wrong.

There's this post, which seems to give a fix, but I'm not sure why what they suggest would make a difference:

Have you updated Java recently? I see some other posts suggesting that it might be a Java issue.

It should work, you just have to be sure that the version of the map you changed is the one you're uploading, and that the server is using that map in the game. You also might have to restart the server once the new map is uploaded, actually, it's probably a good idea to stop the server, upload the map, then restart the server and be sure that's the map it's using.

Going to need the entire crash log or game output log in order to know what's going on. Post on pastebin or any other paste site or post here and use spoilers.

Considering its a modpack I suppose they are already using one of them

Exactly, so not sure why they are having a Forge issue. Also, if they are using one of the launchers, at least the Curse one anyway, it doesn't install anywhere near the default Minecraft folder. Default install for Curse modpacks is

    C:\Users\<<<username>>>\Documents\Curse\Minecraft\

Deleting stuff from the default Minecraft folder won't do anything. Unless the OP has changed the install folder that Curse uses, that's quite possible.

Just use the Curse launcher (or FTB too, I guess), it should install everything automatically.

    Quote from Tesseract0123»

I just used Cartograph_G for my single player 1.11.2 world to find mob spawners (dungeons) and it worked like a charm! Allowed me to quickly find a skeleton spawner that I needed.

Check out Unmined, it has real time map rendering, with terrain slicing and the ability to x-ray to find whatever you need.

posted a message on Will this modpack work

Add Minetweaker and Minetweaker Recipe Maker to solve any recipe conflicts. Run the recipe maker in game for the GUI to add/delete/change recipes. It will save a script file that the main Minetweaker will load when the game runs that will change the recipes.

If you're going to be running this on a server, there's no need for Optifine, that's client only.
