I'm getting really low FPS in one of my worlds, a single one of my worlds. I get about 12 frames per minute. This issue only came up today but I've done nothing to my system to change it or anything in it that would make me believe this is due to new software or hardware. It was working fine last night.
I tried making another world and the new world works fine. I have the Equivalent Exchange mod loaded in my worlds, if it matters.
My computer greatly exceeds the minimum requirements (whatever they are). I thought it might be the heat. My GTX 480 went over 60 degrees Celsius when it usually averages around 50 degrees. But then again, only one of my worlds is affected. New worlds don't have the fps problem.
Any help would be appreciated. I really like this world (seed: Alchemy).
I'm unable to make the mod work. I deleted the META-INF file and then dowloaded just one of the mods to test it out.
Your instructions say to put the downloaded file (a zip file) into minecraft.jar so I put the zip file in there and it didn't work. I then extracted the file to my desktop (so it was a normal file) and put that in minecraft.jar and it didn't work either. I then took the file inside the folder (the .class one) and put that in minecraft.jar and it didn't work. I had done the same with Risugami's mod manager.

What I enjoy doing in Minecraft: Exploring and surviving. I have yet to make it to the Nether and would like to do so soon.
Anything else I'd like Vanderburg to know: I'll probably build a super structure if I like the server.

Why you should join : I'd ultimately want to build some type of fortress in the Nether. I was looking for a vanilla server and I don't plan to grief anyone. If I like how it's run, I might donate as well.

Feels kind of like cheating, even though I understand that a mod would be doing exactly the same thing. Using a mod or changing some value in the game's executable doesn't feel so much like cheating.
Is there any way to increase the chances of flint dropping from gravel? I just want a quick (preferably simple) fix or are there any mods that do this?
Do any of the biomes specifically prevent trees from growing?
I was having trouble finding trees to chop down in a snowy biome with no trees. I went to a neighboring biome, chopped down the trees and the leaves and got some saplings (I noticed that the sapling drop rate is a lot lower). I took those saplings and put them into a cave but the tree won't grow. I'm focusing on just getting one tree to grow first. It's on a 7 x 7 area of dirt directly in the center with 1 torch at each cardinal direction (not the diagonals). It has 5 spaces above it to grow. It's been many days but the tree just won't grow.
My intention was to at least have hash marks that were 2x1x1 with one block of grass in between but the proportions didn't look right. Two blocks of grass and a hashmark looked correct but this meant that one square yard was equal to a 3x3x1 block. This means that my field will have to be 362x162x1 which is 9 times larger than what you see in the second picture. So far, it's taken about 9 hours to get to where I was in the second picture which means it will take another 72 hours to get a field of the correct dimensions layed down.
Next up will be mapping out the dimensions of the field and then setting up a people mover between all my work stations and storage areas (most likely the corners of the field).
