Downloaded, played it, seemed pretty neat. A few things, though...
For one, it didn't start me in the right spot. I was already in the town when I loaded my game and was rather confused when I found my house.
Two -- and this is very important -- I was invincible. At first I thought it was just my armor, but then I took three creeper explosions (basically at once) and was unharmed. Yeah...
Three, the combat on the way to complete the Willy's bones quest seemed like it would be nigh impossible if I could actually take damage. Maybe I'm just missing something, though.
Also, it was very short, but I did like digging around for the hidden chests, and the little quest under Timmy's house was pretty nice.
Are we allowed to craft bows? I found a whole lot of arrows and the equipment necessary to make a bow, but I never actually found the bow itself... I probably just missed it, though.
Personally, I think he looks a little "friendly"(pedophileish)
Maybe he should knOck down torches , pick them up, and drop them on death
He has no reason to knock down torches, his eyes are sewn shut. Noise bothers him, that's all. My other mob, the Dweller, has an aversion to light. That fella knocks down torches, but he doesn't pick them up or anything like that. Why would he? He wants nothing to do with them.
...to signify that it does possess basic intelligence, and values gold like humans do...
I don't really like this. I don't think it's intelligent, I think it just lumbers towards whatever's making noise. Basically, sound is its only sense. When you make noise, you agitate it. It will try to stop the noise at the source by lumbering towards you and trying to murder you.

When it 'stalks' you, it will always attempt to attack from behind, except where that would take it into your line of sight.
This doesn't make sense unless it is intelligent, and even then it'd be pretty rare for the thing to get a chance to sneak up from behind. It's a cool idea, but I don't really see it as being feasible.

Sunlight burns it, on the rare occasions that it comes into contact with it (because it spends it's life underground and therefore has no resistance to UV rays)...
I guess I don't have a problem with that.

...and it will actively avoid all kinds of light, even torches (though they don't harm them). They stick to the shadows, and will only pass through light if that is the only way to reach you.
Nope, nope, this is basically my other mob idea, the Dweller (link in sig). This guy's eyes are sewn shut, it has no reason to avoid light.

And perhaps it has a certain affinity with a certain block. I think gold (to signify that it does possess basic intelligence, and values gold like humans do) or Obsidian (to both make collecting it more of a challenge and to signify it's affinity with darkness).
Hmm... I don't really like tying it down like that. I'd prefer that it could be anywhere in a cave, not just hanging around obsidian places. Besides, it'd probably blunder into some lava that way.

Actually, to take the obsidian idea even further, perhaps they rarely spawn in the nether as well, though they are faster, have slightly more health and spawn in packs of three (possibly a different skin as well, with a screaming face). And if so, Pigmen will warn you of the Stalkers presence, or alternatively hunt them down.
I dunno... I'm not sure Notch wants creatures that spawn in both the normal world and the Nether. Maybe a similar but different mob could be used there, though. If he was in the Nether, though, I don't think the Pigmen should help. Whenever I'm there, I don't view the Pigmen as friendly; I view them as suspicious of me, grumbling to themselves about the stranger invading their land and building crap all over the place. If they saw a stalker, they'd probably just as soon let it get me. But that's just me, maybe other users here have other ideas, or agree with yours.

Anyway, I'm off to see your other suggestions. Oh, and I approve of the avatar. Very good.
Thanks! I'm glad you like this one, and I'm always happy to hear suggestions for it even if I personally don't agree with them. And Miyamoto is terrific, hahaha. :tongue.gif:
I think there should be a reason for them dropping coal. Like catching fire when they are too close too light.
They could also eat exposed coal, but then they should drop all they have consumed.
Well... since it does indeed burst in to flames when exposed to sunlight, I guess that's that, huh? But if you need another explanation, well... maybe they're just covered in coal from wandering around underground for so long. I don't really think they should eat coal, that seems odd to me.

As for the shape. i first pictured something like a lump or ball with lots of arms dragging itself away.
But I like the current design :smile.gif: Although it would be cool if they changed stance according to the situation.
Like if they in the dark were using their arms as legs. And when in light they could stand up, stretching their arms towards the light source in an attempt of destroy it, or towards you. It would be interesting with an enemy with a long reach that's not a projectile. The tail could also be like a third leg while upraised.
Interesting! That's a bit more complex, but I do like the idea. Those spindly arms of his should definitely have some reach to them, heh.

I also like the name Dweller, although it doesn't really give of the creepiness factor I think this mob should give of.
And how should they behave in the dark. Especially if you're in the dark too. Should they stalk you? Or just mindlessly attack like any other mob. Mayne they should attack as you place a source of light?
Hm... I think they should attack like other mobs in the dark, yeah. On the other hand, it would be interesting if they were neutral in the dark, so you could just walk past them as long as you don't place any torches like that... That's a cool idea, too.

The potential of this mob is huge and I would really like to see something like this in the game!
@Dark_Link: you need to edit the OP! It is getting popular! Make it look more professional! More of a layout, easier for us to read etc.
I chucked in a modified version of the table you suggested, thanks. Didn't actually spend too much time or effort on it because I'm quite lazy. :tongue.gif: Perhaps that kind of defeats the purpose... I may redo it when I'm feeling more motivated.

Nice idea but instead of following your noise maybe light? Or blocks you've placed or destroyed
Nah, I like it following sound. If it followed your light, you could just set up a torch and hide in the corner, watching him go up to it instead of you. As far as placing/destroying blocks, well... that makes noise, in my opinion. :smile.gif:
Uh... map hacks? Boom, as many points as you care to take. Implementing a system to prevent such cheating would take an incredible amount of work, and it still wouldn't be successful.
I was thinking, that it would be pumpkin in the middle and then in the squares around it after a day would become "rooted" blocks, where there are pumpkin roots inside the blocks if that block is hoed, and pumpkins would only be able to grow if there are no pumpkins growing in a 2x2 area (so they won't be besides each other)
Crude drawing of pumpkin farming
Growth Stage One
= Hoed dirt
= Pumpkin
Growth Stage Two
= Pumkin Rooted Blocks
Growth Stage 3
And The Each Pumpkin next to tilled grass will let out it's vines and so on
May need constant maintenance because the vines might get tangled up letting no pumpkins grow
There could be a bunch of bugs to this system, and maybe pumpkins could grow diagnoly
That's pretty good, but I think I'd do something like this:
1. Plant a pumpkin on farmland.
2. Farmland within five blocks of the block that pumpkin is on become 'pumpkin-rooted blocks.'
3. After a few days, pumpkin-rooted blocks may grow pumpkins as long as the block in question is not directly adjacent to another pumpkin (including diagonally).
This way, you get a somewhat random arrangement of pumpkins without packing them in too tightly. And maybe instead of planting a pumpkin directly, you could craft a pumpkin into pumpkin seeds or something?
No matter how it's done, though, I'd kind of like to have a pumpkin farm.
For you sir, not sure if it's been suggested before...
It has. A lot. I found that out shortly after posting my own telescope thread, which is linked in my sig. Somehow, this OP has managed to avoid the flak I got for it, though, so good for you. It remains something I'd definitely like to have in the game.
Adding my support, especially for the pedometer. When connecting two places in the normal world via Nether portals, you have to count the blocks between the places, then divide by eight in the Nether and construct a portal there. A pedometer would make the counting part much easier, especially for ridiculously long distances.
If it was a real item in-game, it would break the lore and would be over powered.
So, let us keep it a mod.
It doesn't have to be overpowered. I think if we could throw something like the ghasts' fireballs, that would be fair.
As far as crafting goes, I would just make it a stack of three gunpowder in a crafting square yields one grenade. And by a stack, I mean a single pile consisting of three gunpowder, not three separate gunpowders lined up or anything. Small, simple, throwable, and moderately useful. The ghasts' fireballs can't destroy stone; I don't think this should be able to, either.
I honestly don't think this would be overpowered. Besides, it's not like gunpowder is easy to come by.
As for lore-breaking... I get what you mean, grenades might feel out-of-place. But I think as long as they're simple to craft and called something else ('poppers,' maybe, or even just 'bombs;' it worked for Zelda, right?), it won't be too weird. After all, we already have powered minecarts (that no one uses) and record players...

If it's there, I didn't put it there. o.o But feel free to post a link, or however it works.

Bacon armor.
Flower pot.
Guns - there are so many of these...
Pebbles. That one actually surprised me a little, but there it is.
Search. It's good.
