Windows 10 and driver issues? What a surpriseee.

So far W10 has buggered up my graphics drivers, mouse drivers (messing up my G700s internal profile memory in the process), MTP drivers (actually corrupting my phone in the process), USB3.0 and USB3.0 Generic Hub drivers, serial port drivers for a Naze32, plus more.

I've also had to deal with broken/missing printer drivers, display drivers, ODD drivers, HID drivers and many more at work too.

Windows 10 is garbage. I hate it. Never had any of these problems with W7/8.1.

That's one of the reasons why I use a GNU/Linux distribution, although driver installation is quite a challenge, video drivers are quite stable, wish I could say the same about those Catalyst drivers though, the open source ATI drivers have improved a lot. NVIDIA performance is amazing though, it's on par with its Windows counterpart.

That's surprising considering I owned a similar Macbook Pro and I could barely run the game, let alone record it.

    I second that...

I have that exact same model with ArchLinux running on an external hard drive and 340.96 drivers installed, considering its the best that works with such an old GPU. Minecraft seems to be stuck at 30FPS which is just acceptable. I am guessing that if I had shaders it would be 0 FPS and in case of a lightweight recording software, probably 10-20 FPS drop.

    Quote from karlzhao314»

Are you doing anything that requires the extra power? If so, an upgrade might be worthwhile. If not, save the $2k and use it down the line when your current Mac is actually too old to keep up.

Do keep in mind that you can get better performance from a Windows PC for the same price. I'd suggest only getting Macs if there are legitimately things that you need with OSX.

I agree, it is possible to build a computer nearly as decent as that for half the price, there are even some cheap 4k monitors you can get. If you really do want OS X, you can prepare a hackintosh.

posted a message on do i wanna buy this pc?

NVIDIA GT 705, trust me, you don't want that...

It originally came with the PC I am using right now. One of the worst graphics card I have ever used, even worse than the Intel HD Graphics you find in OEM PCs. NVIDIA Drivers kept crashing from time to time. On windows, it kept crashing and recovering. On ArchLinux, it was worse, It would keep crashing Xorg with the NVIDIA Drivers and does not recover, X is not capable of that currently. I would always have to use SSH to restart the display manager. I had to switch to the open source Nouveau until I got the GTX 750 Ti

As for the processor, I don't know what to say, that clock speed is terrible I must say. 1.5GHz? That clock speed is even worse than any Pentium processor I've seen. Even most Celeron processors have higher clock speed.

posted a message on I want to buy a new computer with no laggy connection and can load shaders & mods. which one should I buy? or upgrade my pc?

That CPU looks quite old, I suggest you get a new CPU since Minecraft needs some CPU horsepower. i3/i5/i7 Processors that are in 4th generation or above and have a clock speed above maybe 3.5Ghz should be good enough..

May I know your graphics card as well since shaders depend on your graphics card as well.

Coming from a guy who uses GTX 750 Ti and i3-4170 with SEUS Shaders and is able to run SEUS Shaders smoothly..

My original account was Skryptonyte, made in 2013 until I was terminated in 2015 for making offensive simulators. My current one is BurnOfFlames. When I joined ROBLOX, I could not stand the community and the greed of ROBLOX, but later I got used to it and actually started enjoying it somehow. I love sitting back on my chair and eating popcorn during OTermination, that time when the moderators start deleting innocent threads and banning users for no reason. I also make overused jokes and occasionally spark flamewars, that's the tradition of ROBLOX Forums. I am usually found posting in OT (Off Topic). I am not really the same when I forum in ROBLOX.

Not exactly like I have a favorite, though at home and stuff ended up getting frustrated with windows recently and jumped ship to see how long i could live without windows at home. I really don't game anymore and what I do works fine. At work i run Win10 with cygwin for things like ssh, using cat to write to disks, and serial console access.

Glad to see I am not the only one who uses a GNU/Linux distribution...

posted a message on Things you find/found stupid about school

Two things that tick me off:

Holiday Homework: Thanks for ruining my well deserved summer break with that pile of homework, apparently you can't escape homework, whether it's holiday or school time.

Having to wake up early: While everybody lives in different areas, can't schools start at 8:00 or 9:00 am, instead of 7:00am so that most of us can go to school well-rested and active, at least that's what it's like where I live. I have to wake up 5:30 am to have breakfast, brush teeth and put on my uniform. I catch the bus at 6:15 and reach by 6:45 and school begins at 7:00am. Deprivation of sleep? This is torture..
