Wither Dragon Health: 100 (50 hearts) Armor: 12 (6 full bars) Attack Strength: 10 (5 hearts) plus wither effect, No ramming effect Spawning: One per meteor crater Extreme Weakness: Sharpness-enchanted swords Size: Slightly bigger than the Ender dragon Details: The wither dragon spawns in meteor craters (Holes in the ground). They will always be flying around the crater unless they spot a player. It attacks players on sight until they move far away from the crater. It will attack you with fireballs from far range, and by breathing acid on you in close range. The acid has a range of 10 blocks and will immediately give you wither, increasing the effect in longer exposure and cause you to be weakened for the time you are exposed to it. Why do you even bother posting if you can't give a reason why you think it is "OP" I would like your reasons not just for you to immediately disagree, and besides how can it possibly be OP when you can't kill others with ease? So you can fly, but can you destroy a castle of stone or anything stronger? No it would take a very long time with how I explained the power of the dragons.
They may be able to take alot of damage, but can they dish out as much?

Concepts such as "too futuristic", "overpowered", "not thematic" are not intrinsically bad reasons for denying a reason. However, if they are provided without supporting details, they become SPAM.
If you have a ground dragon it isn't very useful in single player as it can only kill things and act as a meat sheild. If it is on multiplayer it will kill evreything and be a greifing machine.
If you have a air dragon then it is a air-horse with a ton of health. If you get any ranged attack and one of these, everyone is screwed.
In single player they are a little more usful then ground dragons.
In multi player they are a tiny bit better if you have a ability.
It may be expensive but get a few of each and a couple buddies and you now are the deadliest military force on the server and can pretty much run a dictatorship.

Again, the air dragons would have no ability to carry armor and would have a decreased maximum of health, allowing for people to easily shoot it down with arrows, or perhaps we could make a lower minimum and decrease the maximum... Maximum 40-80 hearts for a ground dragon, 20-50 for flying dragons, and at that they would be alot easier to kill.
As for the "Griefing machine" part, yes it would indeed be a griefing machine, but that is only if your base is on the ground, perhaps the fireball would only be able to do slight damage to stone and anything stronger along with a cooldown, but grass and trees would get wreaked by the fireballs.
As for the ramming, the dragon would take a while to smash through stone or anything stronger, say 5 seconds per layer, and the fire breathing ability cannot really destroy much besides glass and anything flammable, people with the fire resistance potion effect on would be immune.
I think it'd be way over the top for minecraft standards. Seeing as the final boss is a dragon, and it has a lot of health, owning one would be a bit ridiculous. Maybe an idea would be to be able to hatch the dragon egg you get when defeating the enderdragon, and it being a dragon the size of a cow, maybe bigger, that can follow you around. Since there's only one in the game, it's impossible to breed it to get more.
This is why I said dragons will spawn in mountain biomes, there will be more then one, each one varying in abilities, and dragons that the player can ride would not be able to go anywhere beyond the world in which they spawned in, as for the ridiculous part dragons would have alot less strength than the ender dragon, where they can only smash through anything stronger than stone in 5 seconds per layer, obsidian being indestructible, and also being able to smash through blocks would be an ability which would cause the dragon to be weaker in terms of speed and health, as with all abilities.
Minecraft isn't really interesting if it's impossible to die. I'd be much happier if they made it just leather, gold and iron barding, simply for balancing if nothing else. And if you could dye the leather barding... yes yes yes!
You have to remember, the horses need to eat hay bails to heal, so even with diamond armor, the horses can easily die due to having to eat to heal.
Dragons won't ever be implemented in this manner. WAY overpowered. People never get this.
You clearly have not read my post, I have said they are extremely rare to find, especially flying ones, how is a dragon overpowered if it can't fly and if it is strong it will be slow in movement?
As I said for the ones who do not have a ranged attack riders will have to use a bow, so you can easily take the dragon down with range, and if it flies it cannot heal unless on the ground and if the rider has lots of food, and, I also have many ways they could be balanced out, like I put in my post, you lose speed for the dragon if it is very strong and gain speed if the dragon is weak. Both of which cannot be improved, it all depends how lucky you are when the dragon spawns.

Ever since I have seen the fact that horses and mules have been added to minecraft I have always thought that they should make dragons mount able too, here is how it would work:
Like horses and mules, each dragon would have randomized status, special abilities, etc and dragons would be super rare.
Health would vary from 40-80 hearts for non-flying dragons, along with speed.
On the rarest of occasions you will find dragons that can fly, ones that can fly, however have health varying from 20-50 hearts, and cannot carry armor, but they are usually very fast.
Dragons that cannot fly can carry armor of any kind and usually have special attacks, such as shooting fireballs, which have a powerful blast to anything weaker than stone and with a cooldown, breathing fire, which is constant and high damage but you have to get in close to your target to hurt them, obviously not being able to harm anybody with a fire resistance potion effect or anything non flammable besides glass, and ramming, which will make the dragon be able to smash through blocks, but be slow in destroying anything that is stone or stronger and do extreme melee damage. Note: Flying dragons can get these attacks, just unlikely
Each dragon can only have 1 special attack, or none, and if a dragon has a special attack it will reduce both the speed and health of a dragon, as you cannot have a super-fast juggernaut dragon that breaths fire, it is either balanced or very strong in 1 point.
To tame a dragon you need to first find it in a mountain biome, but only for every 6 mountain biomes will you find a dragon, after you find one it will take half a stack of food to satisfy it, and then you must make a dragon saddle which takes 3 regular saddles and iron to make and then you have your own dragon.
Dragons are expensive to keep alive as it takes 1 food item to give it a heart of health back after its damaged, along with the fact that it cannot be flying and it has a short time between feeding times, this is to prevent them from becoming invincible also you cannot use bows while riding a dragon unless it has no ranged ability, left clicking with a dragon while it is not flying will cause it to do a melee attack, right clicking will cause it to use its special attack, you cannot breed dragons.
If you want to keep a dragon from wandering away you need to make chains which require iron to make (These can also be used to make chain armor)
Please post any errors I made in this idea, and tell me if you do not understand something or have your own ideas.

Interesting but imagine what pvp would be like with one person on a flying dragon firing arrows and raining hell if you could breed it with fireball dragon. Hint too OP.
You do have a point, indeed, but remember that the flying ones would be the rarest out of already extremely hard to find dragons and you would not be able to use weapons while flying a dragon, right clicking with a dragon would cause a melee attack, left clicking would cause it to use fireballs/fire breath, the fireballs would have a cooldown and with the fire breath you have to get in close, along with the fact that flying dragons would not be able to have armor or chests and are the weakest of dragons in terms of health.
Dragons would only be able to melee and eat to heal when on the ground with a short cooldown for feeding it, the flying ones with the most health are likely to fly slowly and vice versa. Also if a flying dragon does not have ranged attack it would basically be useless besides a safe transport and dangerous melee weapon.
Riding dragons.... Have it take 1 piece of food per 2 hearts of health, dragons would have 40-120 hearts and varying speeds, dragon saddles would take 2 horse saddles to make and dragons would be very hard to tame. Each dragon would have different abilities, the rarest ones would be able to fly, some could be able to shoot fireballs at a cost of 1 fire charge per ball, some could breath fire instead of shoot fireballs (A lot less damage but more constant and without a cost) all of the non-flying ones could carry 3 chests worth of items and iron or gold armor, with the ones not carrying chests being able to have diamond armor.
Mind you, dragons would be very rare and the ones that do not fly would be the toughest because they cannot fly away and, dragons would be able to do a melee attack by right-clicking while you are riding it, doing alot of damage.
Kind of the concept of what I think if dragons were to be added, which would be incredible.
This would only cause problems, because paying 26$ for a minecraft account and getting banned several times by stupid admins would void all chances of joining a server, thus wasting part of the package which you paid for.
I want Volcanoes which spawn rarely and basically take up part of the biome and have lava all over it.
I also think it would be nice to have Muskets, Crossbows, bayonets, knives(Throw/pick doors/stealth kill) battle axes, throwing dynamite and some napalm grenades, plus a way to disable all "Extra features" for the people who don't want these things in there world.
I am also wondering, since they said they want to take a different path, does that mean some PC features will stay PC features forever or something?
