It was mentioned in the "Hiring new Writers" thread a bit ago that he left for bigger opportunities, or something like that. Don't remember the specifics, but it was something like that.

And that quote is misinformed and incorrect. Advancements replace achievements, thus being a "Main game thing". Advancements can be used by mapmakers, but Advancements effect the vanilla game as well. However, the vanilla game advancements will not be limiting or linear.

I found that out eventually, but I still prefer the original achievement tree. Also the message you quoted was a reply to some guy saying that Advancements were a map-maker feature only to every single person on page one.

No, it replaces the original achievements completely. It's a main game thing.

I agree. Notch's original vision for Achievements was that they wouldn't be grind tasks, but more of markers to show your progress/accomplishments (At least I think that's what it was). I'm sincerely hoping that the default or vanilla or first or whatever tab for advancements would in fact be the original achievement tree, and not some new grind-based tree.

I thoroughly enjoy versions above 1.8. I find the combat in versions above 1.8 much better than the system in previous versions, but more importantly, the added content. Also, versions below 1.7 can be enjoyed as well. Nobody can objectively say that specific versions are "the best version" and that no other version is good.

I'm hoping they keep the original Achievement tree as one of the Advancement tabs, or maybe the default one. Also, I feel Advancements might make Minecraft vanilla more linear, depending on the path they take with it

Why do people have to be so negative about everything nowadays? Like, instead of "Hey, this is a neat house design, it's pretty simple and uses pretty basic materials" people are all like "Ew, Clickbait, Grain sucks, this isn't news, even though there is very little news to actually report on, ugh!"

Well it's not really clickbait if you deliver on your promise in the title and the thumbnail. Though the EASY! and the red arrow could be a little bit misleading looking, the house design is pretty simple, which could account as being "easy"... and he explains how to build the house design very thoroughly, and it is made of basic materials, so it's a starter house. In this case, it could be called "clickbait" but it leaves you satisfied.

I... I think...I think they added bulk crafting to the recipe book... I haven't seen the snapshot yet, but the changelog states that they added shift-click to the recipe book and the only thing that could mean is... bulk crafting... the fact that the recipe book could only craft one item seemed to be one of the only drawbacks to using it instead of shape, but now?

I mean, yeah, they're really cool and stuff, but I think the main reason why people are upset is because they removed the original achievement tree. I personally wanted them to keep it as the default advancement tab.

No, you dont... you literally start a new world with 0 recipies unlocked. Sure, collecting a material gives you some of it's recipies, but it's still a snapshot and things are subject to change. Also, shape crafting still has relevance, say, if you want to craft a large amount of shovels, it'd be faster to use shape as the book only does one at a time. Or for instance, if you just memorized a recipe, instead of having to search for it in the book, you'd use shape crafting to make it.

Thats pretty much what I said. You can't just simply "fix lag" as the OP requested. Also, I thought I unsubbed from this thread, why do I keep getting notifications

Well, as I said before there was something this year...

Well, there is now an april fool for a game & watch esque device on the minecraft homepage, but nothing in-game

The unlock text spam was fixed in 17w13b.

I guess if you have a water-covered base, you can use a concrete launcher to open up the waterfalls or cover the tops, and because Concrete has low blast resistance, you can make holes by launching TNT at the same time...

Or you could not press the book button or make a resource pack that causes it to vanish altogether?

How 'bout instead of Haste it would give you Luck? And maybe revise the Luck effect to effect all loot tables, instead of just chests? Otherwise, Haste potion are pretty much always like OP, and the Beacon exclusive effects should stay Beacon exclusive, and in this case, No support.

Sounds like Touchscreen mode, disable it in the controls settings

Elytras are wings, not a shirt with wings. I think it looks worse as a shirt. But the shulker helmet is kinda cool, in my opinion. (Also, this isn't an america-only forum, people are allowed to type "Colour" or "Armour" if they want to)

As we may or may not know, Advancements are a rework of achievements, made to be fully customize-able and to support multiple trees and a reward system, as well as possibly being able to lock recipes and create custom ones.
So, I'm hoping they keep the original Achievement tree as one of the Advancement tabs, or maybe the default one, as the examples Dinnerbone has given in his spoilers seem to be a little bit grind-based, though they may just be examples.
Notch's original vision (as I remember it) for the achievement system was for each achievement to act like markers to your progress or like challenges, and to lead you to new areas of the game, and to be like something you might want to do but not something you have to do, as well as not grind tasks.
Also, I feel Advancements might make Minecraft vanilla more linear, (also against Notch's vision), depending on the path they take with the recipe-lock thing, and if they incorporate the features into the default game.

Seems interesting. But make it have some kind of range, maybe dependent on the beacon's range, so it doesn't say, effect an entire server. Also, someone could just make this into an AFK farm pretty dang easily, voiding any challenge whatsoever. In my opinion, it doesn't really fit Minecraft too much, either. So I'd say, 10% Support? idk I'm really indecisive about these things
