    When people stop asking for the 1.8 update, probably.

    In all seriousness, I don't know when or if there will ever be a 1.8 version, I'm mostly here for tech support and OCCASIONALLY help with programming the mod. Judging by the Github repo, I would say it's still a while yet before we see 1.8 supported.

    I'm sure these questions have already been answered, but I played this mod a while ago, and upon playing it again I've noticed some missing features.


    First of all, soldiers don't seem to take items from chests anymore. I know that was in an older version, any particular reason why it's gone?


    And secondly, the nexus used to be extremely customizable, and allowed you to set how many soldiers spawned, at what frequency, with what items, etc. regardless of how many soldiers were already present on the battlefield. But now, it spawns a plain ten soldiers, and only if there are less than ten soldiers of that color present on the battlefield.


    Hopefully these two features will return at some point!


    The mod had to be completely rewritten for 1.7.10, so most old features are missing.

    I really need to pay more attention to this, I should be around for tech support.


    Anyway, I never even installed Java 8 on my computer, so you really shouldn't need Java 8 unless LexManos decided to pull his typical weirdness and make Forge for 1.7.10 require Java 8 from now on.


    It looks like you might've gotten a corrupted version or something, as it really shouldn't be throwing a ClassNotFound about the main mod file.

    I can understand your opinion, there's a lot of scary things that could happen with opensourcing a mod.


    I swear by open source myself, but that doesn't mean I don't have daynightmares (?) about people downloading the code and immediately reuploading the mod with a slightly different name and saying they made it, and potentially following up by reporting my mod for copying theirs and getting me banned or some such thing. I'm overly paranoid, but the same idea applies.


    It IS a risk. But, most of the time, it's a risk you should be willing to take. For example, the Clay Soldiers mod - a moderately popular mod. It was seemingly dying and being discontinued, having been stuck on 1.6 with no development for quite a while.

    It had been open-sourced however, so when I picked it up and did some development on it through Github, SanAndreasP (the lead developer) actually took notice and eventually added me to the team, and we worked together on updating it to 1.7. I have no idea if that would've happened without me doing it, but I suspect the mod would not be quite the same one it is right now without it having been open source.


    TLDR: Keep an open mind about it despite the risky and scary parts of it like licensing trouble. You may not WANT to discontinue it, but you might run into a disaster and no longer be able to work on the mod, but then someone of the community can pick up the code right where you left off and continue to update it. It's an nice sort of insurance policy to make sure your mods never completely die.

    TheFrozenCreeper:I removed it since its not visible in Amnesia as well.


    On the ToU, I still think being that anti-open is not good for the community overall, since you might end up feeling sick of working on Minecraft stuff and abandon the project, leaving all your awesome work sort of permanently useless.


    On the sanity, it is visible on the inventory screen right below your health (in the first game, where there was a tab screen to use in the first place)


    Also, as I might've said before, good luck with the 1.8 update. I sort of took one look at it and NOPEd right out of there because every function name or package seems to have changed again.

    I probably will use some ideas from that, making little other types of goo to go alongside the general "tiers" thing.


    Also...Would that mean Cliffie's Goos is currently the only "world ending goo mod" available for 1.7.10 right now? That would be bragging rights. :P

    Ugh, sorry about being so late and sort of leaving the mod in an "abandoned/discontinued" state. I've been sort of burned out on Minecraft lately, I will be probably trying to pick up the mod again soon with the Tier 4 goo, and possibly some other things.


    I'll take down some of the junk parts of the old poll and leave it to just "rating and why do you like the mod", should make it take up less of the page.

    Please give suggestions on what you want to see next, aside from Tier 4 goo and Anti-Taint. Anti-Taint was already half implemented in the 1.7.10 version, thanks to my fellow modder who helped update it. I will be finishing the anti taint, and researching how I should make the Tier 4 goo work.

    What Minecraft version are you using, along with Forge version? It seems likely you could be using the wrong version of Minecraft and/or Forge for the mods you tried to install.

    I would just leave 1.8 for a few more months.


    Don't let LexManos get to you, it is NOT your top priority to always be updated to the latest version of minecraft. Stick with the version that is currently the standard and has the most mods, which is 1.7. Finish the 1.7 version, make it awesome, and when 1.8 is finally production-ready THEN you start the update process.


    That's what I'm doing. I was going to start updating what little I had made for 1.7 to 1.8, then saw that 1.8 was not production ready for most modders (like me), and decided to leave it for a while until it was actually non-buggy and usable.

    i cant find any official downloads for clay soldiers for 1.6.4 i don't want to use minecraftdl and stuff but I might have to >:(
