Why would it be supposed to be non-server compatible?

When the server would have the mod installed as well it would be compatible.

Being perfectly honest, this is probably the best route that could be taken in order to get the best effect. Heck, might even be simpler to do this than trying to take the prior route being taken.

It won't be easier to make, but that way the current bugs will be fixable and I could add collision that doesn't have to be server compatible. I might give it a shot, but I don't promise anything.

I was thinking on maybe a new worldtype for No Cubes. The disadvantage is that it won't allow you to use the mod in servers or existing worlds, but in exchange it could have working collision, a huge improvement in look, and no longer blocks that aren't really there. It would allow to save some additional data for every block.

I am seriously desiring to play this mod in VR, but Vivecraft (vivecraft.com) is deeply integrated with optifine. When will you have this working with optifine on 1.10.2? I know the r/vive community would go nuts over this

Maybe I will try but I don't promise anything

Could work off of 0.8 source code for it if the suggestion I had is used. Use the current 1.0 as a branch for work on code for the smoother appearance.

Yeah you are correct, the 0.8 version was kind of like what Equityx6 suggested.

I'm looking forward to an 1.9.4 version! I hope this mod is still in development!

I'm here because of the birdsmod that should have been merged in this mod?

Still working on this mod of course but haven't had a lot of time recently :/ And yes all features from the birdsmod will be added.

I have reversed it, and I have it working 100% in my Eclipse environment (that's a program most of us use to code mods, for those who don't know) and I also removed the Mojang copyrighted code so it's "legal" now, but... sorry to get your hopes up guys, but this code is WAY over my head. The math involved is insane, lol. It probably doesn't help that decompiled code is always messy and much harder to read than original code.

But, it DOES work. And it IS the source code. So....

As we all know, Click_Me gave the community permissions to reverse engineer and open source the result. So, here I am doing so. Hopefully he doesn't send a DMCA Takedown my way and tarnish my name :P

I have the mod the MMPL v1.0.1 license (an opensource license which is vaguely copy-left, also the same license as Buildcraft) - I hope that's OK by Click_Me.

Repo link for all, fork and share as much as you please (just don't be a jerk and claim it as your own work): https://github.com/cosmicdan/NoCubes

I wish the best to whoever decides to have a go at maintaining or improving this mod. May you have better luck than I do!

FYI, Click_Me, I trust that the following clause listed in the repo is to your satisfaction? ;)

STATEMENT OF VOLUNTEERED ACT OF LIBERATION FOR AN ORPHAN WORK

While the original mod was closed source and had no opensource license, the original author "Click_Me" has given permission for reverse-engineering and redistribution of the result. I, Daniel Connolly, declare that, to the best of my knowledge, in good faith and agreement with all interested parties, have lawfully and rightfully recognized this software as an orphan work, or "abandonware", volunteered to perform the desired liberation of the work, and have taken it upon myself to do so - while claiming all responsibility of any legal repercussions if or when any of them should arrive in future. In doing so, I hereby relinquish and redeem Click_Me from any possible issues regarding the law, copyright or otherwise, in regards or relation to the liberation of this orphan work. I also declare that I will, to the best of my ability, uphold and preserve the identity of this software being an original work of Click_Me and that no other person may claim ownership of this authored work, excluding that which involves claiming legal responsibility for implementing, compiling, distributing or otherwise utilizing any of the source code contained in this repository, as described in the Liability section of the MMPL (see LICENSE).

Great you got it working! I didn't come up with that algorithm myself. It came from the blog 0 FPS (https://0fps.net/2012/07/12/smooth-voxel-terrain-part-2/ ) and I ported their example to Java and made it work in Minecraft. The algorithm: https://github.com/mikolalysenko/mikolalysenko.github.com/blob/master/Isosurface/js/surfacenets.js

This was the algorithm used in the 1.0 build. To make it work in Minecraft was quite a hassle so I ended up with that messy code.

Could someone decompile and setup github for this mod? I tried but I just can't figure it out :( Any volunteers?

I'm sorry by the way but I lost the code of the current version that is released, so I can't give you it.

This is exactly what I'm saying. All you need to do is give permission for people to decompile it and put it on github. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to write that on the main post.

That's okay, you can decompile it and put it on GitHub :)

    Yep, that's true

No Cubes requires a complete rewrite, and a new algorithm more like the previous versions.

Man, if you don't upload your mod on github, and maybe make this open source, this beautiful project will die.
Let other people help you with commits, expecially since you have no further time to programming by yourself.

I shall think about that but the code is really messy. I don't think a lot of people will commit.

Hey Click_Me. You think you could hop on sometime and give us an update of what's going on. It has been a while since you last posted on this mod page. Everyone just wants to know if your still planning on updating.

I've tried to update the mod but just too much changed in the newer versions of Minecraft and because it also has a lot of bugs which I'm not able to fix, I'm not planning to update it for now. I also don't have a lot of time for programming anymore unfortunately.
