    posted a message on [1.5-1.11.2] Vein Miner - Quickly mine veins of ore

    Having some trouble with Veinminer since updating it to VeinMiner-1.8_0.30.0.unknown

    Prior to updating it seemed I could mine out coal ore veins no matter how large they were, but now it's no longer doing that. Now I've usually got to venture into the area to clean up the remaining coal ore.

    My config file is listed in the spoiler:

    # Configuration file

    ##########################################################################################################
    # autodetect
    #--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------#
    # Autodetect items and blocks during game start-up.
    ##########################################################################################################

    autodetect {
    # Autodetect blocks with the below prefixes in the ore dictionary, adding the names to the axe list. [default: true]
    B:autodetect.blocks.axe.enable=true

    # List of prefixes to autodetect as blocks to be used with a axe.
    # Separate with ',' [default: 'log,treeLeaves']
    S:autodetect.blocks.axe.prefixes=log,treeLeaves

    # Autodetect blocks with the below prefixes in the ore dictionary, adding the names to the hoe list. [default: false]
    B:autodetect.blocks.hoe.enable=false

    # List of prefixes to autodetect as blocks to be used with a hoe.
    # Separate with ',' [default: '']
    S:autodetect.blocks.hoe.prefixes=

    # Autodetect blocks with the below prefixes in the ore dictionary, adding the names to the pickaxe list. [default: true]
    B:autodetect.blocks.pickaxe.enable=true

    # List of prefixes to autodetect as blocks to be used with a pickaxe.
    # Separate with ',' [default: 'ore']
    S:autodetect.blocks.pickaxe.prefixes=ore

    # Autodetect blocks with the below prefixes in the ore dictionary, adding the names to the shears list. [default: true]
    B:autodetect.blocks.shears.enable=true

    # List of prefixes to autodetect as blocks to be used with a shears.
    # Separate with ',' [default: 'treeLeaves']
    S:autodetect.blocks.shears.prefixes=treeLeaves

    # Autodetect blocks with the below prefixes in the ore dictionary, adding the names to the shovel list. [default: false]
    B:autodetect.blocks.shovel.enable=false

    # List of prefixes to autodetect as blocks to be used with a shovel.
    # Separate with ',' [default: '']
    S:autodetect.blocks.shovel.prefixes=

    # Autodetect tools on starting the game, adding the names to the list.
    B:autodetect.tools.enable=true
    }

    ##########################################################################################################
    # client

    # 'pressed' = enables when keybind is pressed
    # 'released' = enables when keybind is released
    # 'sneak' = enables when sneaking (ignores keybind)
    # 'no_sneak' = enables when not sneaking (ignores keybind)
    S:client.preferredMode=sneak
    }

    limit {
    # Limit of blocks to be destroyed at once. Use -1 for infinite. [range: -1 to 2147483647, default: 800]
    I:limit.blocks=15039

    # Maximum number of blocks to be removed per game tick (1/20 seconds). Using a low number will keep the game from getting huge performance drops but also decreases the speed at which blocks are destroyed. [range: 1 ~ 1000, default: 10]
    I:limit.blocksPerTick=10

    # Maximum distance from the first block to search for blocks to destroy. [range: -1 to 1000, default: 20]
    I:limit.radius=125
    }

    misc {
    # Block IDs (with metadata) to consider equivalent.
    # Names are formatted like 'modName:block_name/metadata'. Separate names (with metadata) with ','. Use 'minecraft' as the mod name for vanilla blocks.
    # [default: 'minecraft:redstone_ore=minecraft:lit_redstone_ore']
    S:equalBlocks=minecraft:lit_redstone_ore=minecraft:redstone_ore

    # Change how much experience is required to Veinmine and how much experience each block uses. [range: 0 to 2147483647, default: 0]
    I:expmodifier=0

    # Change how much additional hunger/exhaustion is used for every block. Every point is 0.025 hunger/exhaustion per block. [range: 0 to 2147483647, default: 0]
    I:hungermodifier=0
    }

    overrides {
    # Mine all blocks with all registered tools that can harvest blocks.
    B:override.allBlocks=false

    # Allow all tools, including the open hand, to be used to mine blocks.
    B:override.allTools=true
    }

    Maybe somebody can look at the config file and tell me if I haven't set the limits high enough on this new version to be able to mine out the entire veins of coal.

    Also the other issue that I have is that I use the SiriusMC mod and have added the lonpickaxe to the list of items allowed to vein mine but it doesn't work, trying to use it and it only mines out one block instead of doing the whole vein.

    Lava boats is a bit flakey. I just used it to travel through a swamp area heading out to the ocean and after a rather short boat ride it simply stopped moving and I had to jump off. When I did the boat was gone, simply disappeared, nowhere to be found.

    posted a message on Can't find Village

    I agree, if you're going to use admidst you may as well just /gamemode 1 and fly around until you find a village, then /gamemode 0 again.

    I'll be honest, I do it on every new world. I want to see if there is any interesting terrain around the spawn point that would make me want to continue playing on that map, if not, I generate a new one. I can only really get a good look at the terrain features from up in the air.

    As far as Admidst is concerned, I've read here that the error rate is low, but in my worlds there more like 50% off. It shows me possible towns littered all over the map and there are none at many of the locations. So it's going to be kind of hit and miss at times.

    posted a message on Benefits to purchasing a second Minecraft account?
    I bought a second account a few years back simply because I wanted anonymity so that I could pop onto my shared servers and nobody would know who the hell I was, or rather they'd not know what other account I might be also using so no user requests for the admin, no mod requests etc. It was very nice to be able to jump on as a regular user and have nobody ask for anything. It also allowed me to first hand experience what the other players on the server would talk about when they thought the admin wasn't listening in on them. Yeah that may seem devious but ultimately it allowed me to hear the casual conversations about what they liked and didn't like and helped me to improve as they wouldn't come to me with stuff they didn't like for some reason.

    It honestly wouldn't surprise me if they started a pay-to-play system or something for new updates. Premium membership? I don't know how likely it is, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

    I don't think they'll change it like that, as you might remember Mojang is still working on it it's just Microsoft owns all rights to the game and the company.

    So for the future I see Minecraft having some more updates then getting to the point where if you add anything more it kust seems like a modpack with WAY to many mods in it to be fun, then a lot of the older Minecraft fans (like from Beta) will leave and the newer (from 1.7) kids come play.

    Honestly, even though it's "Mojang" working on the game, since Microsoft owns all the rights to the game and Mojang itself, I think we can safely say that Microsoft has or WILL have a very big say in what they churn out at Mojang. They're going to want to maximize their profits with the IP as much as they can, after all they've got to make back the 2.5B and then make a huge profit on top of that. I think it's also easy to say that even Jeb's job is not secure. Realitively few people even know who Jeb is, so if Microsoft was to replace him in a couple months, most people wouldn't even care as they don't even know who he is.

    So... While I think that currently they're probably leaving Mojang to do their thing, I'm sure they have solid plans already in place for what is to become of Minecraft, where it will head, and how they will maximize their profits with it.

    In my opinion, Minecraft will die down over the next several years, but I'm really not sure how you go about judging how popular it actually is. I have plenty of servers listed in my games and many of them are simply empty or have less than 5 people playing on them when they accomodate much more. I suppose one could also guess at it's popularity by how many copies are continually sold on Minecraft.net and although the game is very popular, there are many other games out there that seemingly have a larger fan base.

    Then again, I was one of those people that was running a 100 line DLX bulletin board system (on phone lines) when the Internet started and I said "Bah... This internet thing is only a fad, they can't even display any graphics", so I have been known to be wrong before. LOL

    Suggestion: Don't post your email in open forums. Sites like these are crawled with bots to gather any email addresses they find and you'll notice on the home page it says:

    Online Users: 10,671 (876 members and 9,795 guests)

    Well, if it's anything like my last site, then a substantial portion of those 9,795 "guests" are spammers trying to get in, or gathering info like email addresses.

    Just my humble suggestion.

    posted a message on ENHANCED PHOTO REALISM **UPDATED** 512x-64x Resourcepack -- Because real is better
    It's quite nice. There are a few things that I don't like the textures of but that's so subjective on what one person likes and another doesn't so it will be easy enough to change them to what I do like myself.

    Strangely enough, the 512x pack runs fine on my couple year old laptop:

    Asus G74
    16GB SRAM (6GB dedicated to run Minecraft with the ATLauncher)
    Windows 7
    i7 2.8GHz quadcore CPU
    Nvidia GTX 560m with 1 or 2 GB dedicated VRAM.

    posted a message on Having trouble finding diamonds stripmining on level ten? Then you should see this.
    So... His method of mining is to simply go down to a certain level (in the video, level 5) and then just start mining "everywhere".

    Okay, well... I suppose that might be new info for some players, although it doesn't seem to vary any from what most people already do now. Perhaps if he went down to level 5 and then stripmined at least it would be more efficient than mining "everywhere".

    posted a message on 2 block mining mod, available?
    Hi,

    I'm trying to find out if there is a mod that will mine two blocks at the same time by hitting one block. I know it sounds impossible but thought that I'd ask to make sure it's impossible before moving along.

    Basically I would love to have a tool or other mechanism in the game that would allow me to high the block directly in front of me and that would mine out that block as well as the block that is directly below the block that I'm hitting.

    Basically I'm tired of having to mine out tunnels so that I can walk through them by repeating my actions on each block. What I mean is having to dig out two blocks to walk through them one block at a time.

    Thanks

    That is very generous, but I'm slightly confused by the wording. Do you want it added to the Anvil support bounty, or to go towards new bounties?

    It's written in Python.

    I will leave it up to you to decide how to best disperse the funds. Initial payment sent.

    Thank you,
