I have been building a server on a seed/world originally generated before 1.4...

Will there ever be a time that a future minecraft update could corrupt the world, or something like that? Do i need to keep using updated clients and seve the world with those to ensure this never happens? Or can i theoretically stick with 1.4 for now, and years from now (like minecraft 2.0 or something) i can update my client and still open the world no problem?

Who is this great fellow Hypixel everyone keeps speaking of?

Is making map with lots of giant holes through bedrock a bad idea? will it be detrimental to the map somehow?

I am making a Skydive/PvP map, and I want my spawn point to be set on top of a certain structure I've built.

I moved the spawn point up there using MCedit, but every time I respawn, it seems to dump me a couple blocks in a random direction away from it.

There is an ocean underneath. I've tried placing some solid blocks at Y=63. I even spawned on the roof of the building once, but this was still not the exact spot I want. Most of time I just spawn at the bottom of the ocean.

Is it possible to have a spawn up where I want it? Suggestions please

Lol it's great for finding stuff like dungeons and mineshafts... maybe even some unlucky guy's underground base or farm. Just make sure youre not in an area with a lot of lava.

Hey so I was just walking around the tree farm in my skybase just now, when I noticed a single grass block placed in a 1-layer surface of dirt (about 30x50 blocks). When I placed the dirt there, it was all 100% dirt, and there was no way it could have been touching any grass.

Is there any way a grass block can "spawn" itself or otherwise appear on a 100% dirt surface? Or did somebody put it there?

Any first-person game can be terrifying at times.

I think the moment I crapped my pants in Minecraft was when I was exploring a nether fortress... I was there trying to find wither skeletons, and finding only blazes. Just when I was about to give up, all of a sudden a wither skele came out of nowhere and started bashing my brains in... I survived by only half a heart... but my heart in IRL was about to explode!

My first base was a cave that I found. I blocked off an area with cobblestone, and dug it out some more to meet the hillside. It was a nice, semi-concealed survival base in a hillside next to a valley.

Since I'm pretty close with the admins/owner I think I'm gonna ask if I can have a copy of the main world before we explode everything xD

If you just want to be able to reach it from both places without having it in your inventory, you can put it in an Ender Chest.

If you want to actually have two of them, there's really no way to do that without using cheats, barring of course finding another one legitimately. If you want to go that route but don't have cheats enabled in your world, just click Open to LAN and turn on cheats there. Then type "/gamemode c" to switch to Creative mode and spawn another one. "/gamemode s" puts you back in Survival.

So I heard from a reliable source that the server I play on might be closing at the end of this month...

Now that the final judgement day is set (maybe they are just bluffing for donations? idk) what should I proceed to do in the server?

I have more than enough diamonds/resources to last me until then, so mining/doing tedious stuff no longer needs to happen.... I havent even made it to the end yet so I don't think I will have time to kill the Dragon, or even get a beacon. And there's no point in really building anything anymore since the server will be gone later.

I am trying to think of some fun things to do in my server's last weeks of life... Suggestions please...

P.S. I have about 20 or so TNT, too

The reason I ask is cause i found a rare record, and I want to make a copy to put in another town.

I want flesh golems... they could defend your area like an iron golem, but be not as strong.
