posted a message on Ever had the feeling Minecraft's lost its touch?
    Quote from TealScorpion

Nope. For me, it only stops being Minecraft when you have millions of game changing mods like Millenaire and RPG mods installed.

    This.

Minecraft is always Minecraft. This idiotic meme that "it's not Minecraft anymore" is like this:

Person 1: "Hey, Jimmy isn't Jimmy anymore because he cut his hair and wears different clothes and listens to music we don't."
Person 2: "But he's Jimmy..he makes us laugh with his jokes and makes those awesome sandwhiches!"
Person 1: "No he's not! He's not Jimmy anymore!!"

    Let's shift to Minecraft:

Person 1: "Minecraft isn't Minecraft anymore! There's an End and magical crafting and snow golems and wierd looking npcs and jungle cats and dogs!! D:< "
Person 2: "Uh..but we're still fighting creepers, digging and building stuff since the dawn of Mine-time.."
Person 1: "IT'S NOT MINECRAFT ANYMORE!!"

Seriously...do any of you get it through your thick, metal plated skulls Minecraft is constantly changing and evolving? Do any of you realize you're complaining about extra things to do in the game? Do any of you find how hypocritical you are when you complain Minecraft is boring, install a MOD to "fix it", then complain that Minecraft is not Minecraft when it adds **** so that it's not "boring"?

HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT YOU'RE STILL CRAFTING AND MINING...IN "MINE" "CRAFT"?!

You wana REALLY know when Minecraft isn't Minecraft anymore?

When you stop MINE-ing and CRAFT-ing altogether....guess what isn't gona change anytime soon?

    Quote from PapaSmurf

Look kid, how about instead of just talking about how great Nimesia is going to be and how Mojang sucks you actually try and code a game from scratch. Minecraft had one person working alone for more than a year (while also working another job), then two people kind of half-working on it, now it's back to one person working on it (while still trying to polish his other game). You don't seem to have any idea the sort of man-hours that are necessary to create anything.

And no, three years is not enough time to "become a professional" because you can't learn an attitude. And while three years may be time enough to "at least gain some skills" that is kind of impossible when you are working instead of actively working. This is why they hired someone who specializes in AI, because no one at Mojang has those skills and they do not have the time to learn them now.

You really need to pull your head out of your ass and grow up. Maybe get a real job and you'll realize that taking time off from work isn't so much "lazy" as it is "completely necessary to maintain sanity".

    ^ THIS ^

I'm tryin to learn a bit of game making myself and i **** you not, coding is hard and tedious (specially if you didn't spend most of your life tinkering with it like Notch did.) Stuff gives me raging headaches and even with "tools" like Gamemaker and recently Stncylworks at my hands i still can't seem to grasp the basics of coding ****. Maybe that's just me, but if coding and game making were so damn easy then everyone and their mom would of made Minecraft or <insert game here> long before now.

Everyone can have his opinion here. Thus, I think you shouldn't have said "trash" only because you are a member of Notch Defense Force.

im not a "member" of this imaginary defense force that's in your head. I'm a member of the anti-idiot force which is against stupidity in topics and people. Kinda like your post and half the half assed bitchery regarding Minecraft's features, "values", etc.

I've been playing this game days after it's birth (2+ years), i've watched Notch in all his dealings with Minecraft...he's pissed me off when certain things broke but NEVER have i done half the amount of incessant crybaby bitching all of you people have done. Why? Cause i knew it was going to be fixed. When water physics broke shortly after they were implemented, i was pissed. Did i go into the forums and make rage topics demanding notch "do his job"? No...cause i knew he was going to fix it. Guess what...HE DID. When bugs were shown up in the Alphas and Beta releases i knew they would be fixed by Notch or Jeb (mostly out of PURE ****ING LOGIC in conjunction with faith in the Mojang team.) Guess what... THEY DID. New bugs have been born from them and silly or non-working elements like "NPCs" have came from them. But i haven't given a damn about it nor has it bugged me at all because, I KNOW THEY WILL FIX IT. Those NPCs? Jeb will eventually give them purpose. The Enderdragon bugs? Those will be fixed. The items that have no use? Jeb will give them purpose too in due time.

So when i see STUPID topics like this...questioning Minecraft's "values" (WHAT values?), questioning the people who made the game (specially if they haven't dealt with them as long as some of us have), being impatient, whiny little brats who want the game their way WHEN THEY ALREADY HAVE THE ABILITY TO HAVE IT THEIR WAY...that is the ****ing joke. The joke that they're too blind, stupid and "gimme gimme gimme" to realize it's already there or WILL be there. Just like your "Notch Defence Force" is a goddamn joke as well as the "Anti-Notch Defence Force" being an equally bad joke.

So is Minecraft a joke? no. But the majority of the community is one hell of a joke...and i'm laughing (in amusement) and crying (in shame) at the same time.

posted a message on "Quality of Life" ideas
I've been thinking some ideas...so i'll try to keep this simple:

    EXP "bank"/storage item
Possible Recipe: Glass x4 + Ender Pearl?
Reasoning: Given EXP is rather low and you lose a current level upon death, wouldn't it be nice to store that EXP away for a rainy day or big enchantment? Also, "levels" are harder to get as you get higher, being able to store your EXP (essentially going back to level 1) will eliminate some of that "grinding" some people cry about. Though this point would be rendered void if the EXP gains are increased in a future patch. This also gives another use for the Ender Pearl.

    "Offensive Magic Items"
Possible Recipes: Stick + Ender Pearl + Blaze Rod (fire) or Snowball (ice) or Diamond (lightning)
Reasoning: Blazes and Ghasts can cast elemental (fire) projectiles at us, why shouldn't we harness some of that power too? This gives more purpose to blaze rods and snowballs aside from their one-off actual uses (potions for rods, snowblocks + projectiles for snow). Enchantments would be restricted to durability and damage buffs (like smite and anthropod bane.) Elemental enchants wouldn't happen since the rods are elemental themselves.

    Currency
Possible Recipes: Gold Nugget x3, Iron Nugget x3
Reasoning: Yes, people have likely suggested this, but anyways---Something to give use to the NPCs (once they HAVE a use, like shops and services). 3 Gold Nuggets = x-ammount of Gold Coin. The "iron nuggets" don't exist..but that leads me to the next idea----

    More Deconstruction
    Possible Recipes: Gold/Iron Ingot x1 = 9 Gold/Iron Nuggets, Sword x1 = stick x1, stone/iron/gold/diamond x2, etc
Reasoning: You can deconstruct BLOCKS of certain materials. Why not be able to deconstruct more things? "Deconstructing" the ingots, for example, will give nuggets which lead to making the above Currency and some potion making (with the gold nuggets). Also, sometimes you may of accidentally made an item you didn't want to or made too many of..wouldn't it be nice to "refund" those "wasted" materials to use in something you were going to make with them?

Feel free to give your thoughts on this...the ideas are mostly aimed to give more purpose to certain items/things as well as add some new stuff to the mix.

posted a message on To everyone complaining that this game isn't a "full release..."
    Quote from Flowzor

I don't get your blind devotion to playing a half finished, half broken game.

If it wasn't for people complaining about bugs, your beloved game wouldn't be what it is today.

it's not so much "blind devotion" as it is "being patient and knowing that **** will get fixed." There's a difference between bitching about bugs and actually reporting bugs so Notch/Jeb/etc can deal with them for the next patch. So put this in perspective:

You are Notch/Jeb and are on bug report duty. Are you going to:
A: Look in the actual Bug Report forum and/or thread
B: Look at the 1000+ topics of people bitching about bugs
    C: Play Skyrim

If you said anything but A you're doing it wrong. As noticeable as the 1000+ "OMFG MINECRAFT IS BUGGED" topics are, the best place for them to deal with, gather info, specifics, etc on the bugs is from the people who aren't acting like spastic 12 year old XBox Live gamers in the bug report forums. Most of the people who've been playing Minecraft since day one (hi) understand this since the day the game was available to purchase and furthermore, knows Notch and Co. will fix the bugs as they have been since day one. That's why you see these people telling the whiners to shut up.

    NO.

a good time to come out of beta is when all major issues are fixed. they are not all fixed as the game is now.
    - major issues are completely separate from small glitches. a patch is for small glitches/bugs. a patch is something you use after a full release.

Really now? Ok..ive asked a freind who plays WoW near Day in and Day out to confirm this as i type.

So patch does not = Major Bug Fixes/Critical Updates?
    Quote from Betaflex »
Back in Burning Crusade, Warriors and Bears had their rage generation normalized because they were either rage-starved or always at max rage. The normalization formula was so borked that Warriors and Bears were ALWAYS rage-starved. This had to be fixed in one of the fastest post-expansion patches I've seen because Warriors and Bears were rioting over rage generation, which made up a bulk of the game's tanks at that time.

    Interesting...anything else come to mind?

    Quote from Betaflex »
Paladins and Druids were reworked time and time again, given actual patches dedicated to overhauling them. They had one back in Vanilla and some critical fixes/changes during expansions. Wrath of the Lich King comes to mind for Paladins because of broken mechanics being reworked.

Yeah i heard about that...but that seems "small"..was there anything really BIG that needed a patch?
    Quote from Betaflex »
Back in Vanilla, the 'epidemic': Cities were plagued with a damage over time effect from a raid (I believe it was Zul'Gurub with Hakkar's Corrupted Blood) because someone had it and infected NPCs. NPCs infected people, and the epidemic went rampant. This was addressed very quickly because the cities were death traps.

I remember that! XD That was freaking hilarious. Oh there's more?
    Quote from Betaflex »
Such changes, like the Vindication fix, redefined PvP for Paladins. Look through the patch logs if you want some examples of patches fixing/tweaking RAIDS.

So there you have it... Patches fix big and small bugs alike including adding content. So to sum it up...

    WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGG! D:<

End game------ sandbox+end game = Genre confusion

Have you played a game called Grand Theft Auto? Interesting game series...the games have a large sandbox world with an endgame and story where you can do almost anything you wanted to in it's world especially after you beat the endgame point.

...i wish i could backhand every one of you.

posted a message on Minecraft is dead.
...does anyone understand the concept of CHOICE?

You don't -have- to get to The End, you don't -have- to fight the Enderdragon and furthermore (if you DO kill it) you don't have to stop playing Minecraft, building buildings, towns, dungeons, exploring, etc, etc, etc that you've been doing in Minecraft SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME (<-- exaggeration).

If you -choose- to think Minecraft is dead after the "Ending"...then that's your problem. Cause i don't see it "ending" since it:

    1. Gives you THE ESCAPE from The End.
    2. The game most certainly CONTINUES as you can go about doing what you would of normally done in Minecraft (building, surviving, etc.)

The only thing dead, as far as i can tell, are the braincells in certain people who don't quite understand the fact you can do whatever you damn well please in Minecraft and are only limiting your own enjoyment of the game..
