You would have to light up all caves within the spawning area. When it's daytime, since they can't spawn on the surface, mobs spawn in caves instead, taking away spawns from your grinder.
So I wanted to have a survival world in a Bryce Canyon mesa. I looked around and found a 1.9.0 seed (86) and loaded it.
I was greeted with a large stained clay wall in my face. Something went wrong...
This is what spawn looks like. I had to push my crappy laptop to the edge to get a half-decent picture. I'm interested if anyone can recreate this world (hopefully on a better computer), or if this is just some odd one-time bug.
I got it in 1.2.5, having almost no knowledge of the controls. To make things worse, I had one of those mice that didn't have a defined left and right click(no slot down the middle). I had trouble right clicking and didn't know what the menu button was. I then dug into a cave, fell, and got blown up by creepers. Thus started my long peaceful run.
I couldn't imagine doing this. Gathering the gravel required for this must have taken ages. My main world was loaded in 1.2.5, so near my base there is a "temple" (no structure, but guardians spawn)under a small hill and completely underground. I recently finished excavating the 70x70x90 cube and have added a 64 block cube of glass filled with water to spawn them.
Well, I already did sim proto 1, and infernal sky, and I recently watched a Youtube on UT2, I'll go with remote districts.

I did notice the corruption seemed restricted to a square around spawn. it must be my slow-ass computer.

Finished excavating a 70x70x90 cube for a guardian farm in my 1.2.5 main world. Thank God for Haste 2.
