So they are faster. Next question: how do you refuel them? Do you have to recraft them or just right click them with redstone? How much faster are they then normal boats?

Oh, hey, this is my 300th post...

As i said crafted with redstone, one lump equals a preset distance. After they empty, a powered boat could be picked up put back in crafting table and add more redstone and ur ready to sail again. So players would have to craft several powered boats for long distance trips.

All questions no answers. Nice response.

I support furniture and anything else that can be used for internal decoration. Only so much i can do with a few signs, pressure plates and fence poles.

So...what would be the perks of this new boat?

To make boats more realistic. Faster powered boats would get you further in less time than unpowered boats do and cost more in resources to the player.

Prepare yourself for a plethora of disgusting skins with 10 frames of different, neon colors. Seriously, only the skillful would use this correctly, idiots would run around with terrible skins that induce seizures.

:Diamond: "skins that induce seizures" :Diamond: - Agreed, perfectly put. Maybe the animation being that which shows emotion, like an angry face in pvp, a sleepy face in bed. a sneaky face when sneaking. a gagged faced when muted.

I was going to help resuscitate a thread but its been wiped so since I had typed out a response already, i'll post it here.

Transportation in Minecraft is something I've often thought about.

What about improving the boats. They are troublesome to say the least as they stand.

Redstone powered boats world be nice, each boat crafted with redstone that only take you a preset distance in blocks, like they run out of fuel in middle of the ocean and don't break, you are just stranded in your boat., and have both powered and un-powered boats - make the powered versions go faster.

Aaaand the survival server I play on "is" bukkit based with lots of plugins (moreso security than game changing) rather than faction or role playing (not all survival servers are small or random 'or' have only people making 'cute' houses sir/madam, huge creations exist as well). I'm curious as to why you ignored the majority of my post, particularly where I mentioned about potentially having a feature that alters terrain generation to the will of the world creator. That essentially would fix things so people have the biomes they want.

Yep so you were commenting from a player perspective, I was not.

Regarding the rest of your response sorry, yes a built-in feature that allows the creator of a server to tweak world generation overall would be ideal. First thing i would set would be no snow/ice biomes at all, or at least have them spaced out more so they are not all clumped together as they are currently. Okay, people can use 'hoth generator' for example on bukkit to create a totally icy, snowy world with customized settings to prevent melt etc etc, but a built into' craftbukkit or into' the default minecraft server end' feature would be ideal.

Yeah, you didn't think that one out. You're not gonna defend something as good when the last post is a damn year old.

The issue has only gotten worse for us snow-haters since a year ago though mate. Now there is more snow and ice biomes together in larger clumps. So would you prefer i start a new thread about the same topic...I think not.

Minecraft creations take work, essentially an add-on to what I said about laziness.

Edit: Ack gdi, why do people keep necro'ing threads.

I am talking in reference to building bukkit based roleplaying minecraft servers with hundreds of plugins and multiple worlds covering all aspects of minecraft and it's types of play and one of the many issues that comes with such a task - "excessively large white blobs on a map"... Where as I am 'not' talking about building a cute little house on some random server with your name above door my friend.

There are a variety of methods as to how to deal with this in said biome. Snow biomes shouldn't be reduced by someone's laziness.

    No.

Using VoxelSniper, Worldedit & BiomeEdit its takes about 2 hours to clear off and convert "in a natural manner" a 1000 square block section of snow and ice biomes. After doing this on three of these white blobs, it gets tedious i'm afraid.

Sure there's people who like snow/ice type biomes, but i prefer jungle biomes, so how about we add a load of 1000 square block jungles and watch the snow lovers complain that they cant find their beloved snow.

In an average green 1000 block area, you go through many smaller biomes, for example, from jungle to plains to swamp several times within a 1000 block area.

In my opinion, the way they clump all the snow/ice type biomes together ain't so good due to their similarities.

Recently I have been playing and have encountered many snow biomes.

Maybe an old thread but i had to stick up for you because as usual most of the people who replied misunderstood/ignored your initial statement.

I agree and here's a screenshot of a world generated under bukkit 1.5.1. - its a 7000 x 4000 (ish) block section of new world.

I have generated many worlds to test this out on different seeds and every time it looks like about 35% of the land is snow/ice biomes. A higher percentage than any other biome. Mojang seriously, do i look like a polar bear?

I guess Mojang made it this way intentionally for realism, maybe so there isn't as many... 'snow biome in-between a desert and a jungle' scenarios for example.

There are some people who don't like snow biomes at all and if u get stuck in the middle of one of these large snow/ice biome areas it can be annoying to a point where I just log-off and pick my nose instead as its a more beneficial use of my time.
