I'm back! Had a great time travelling all over the US, but now it's back to work. :-)

Thanks to everyone who has been helping out and answering questions while as I was away! And feel free to continue to do that, I would like this to be a place where users help each other as much as a place for asking me questions.

I'm not going back over everything that was posted in my absence, so if you still have an unsolved problem or unanswered question, feel free to post it again!

I've been working on some cool stuff that should be coming up somewhere in the near future.

    (Repost for visibility)

Just a heads up: I will be traveling for the next three months, so expect support and new releases to be (even more ;)) minimal during April, May and June. I'll be in the US, going roughly from east to west, so who knows, perhaps I'll meet some of my American users!

When I go to export I'm told it's a superflat world and I have no option to change this. I did not declare this when creating new. What should I do to fix this?

If you hover your mouse over the world type selector it should tell you why you can't change it, but it's probably because you selected an endless border. That is implemented by using a Superflat preset, so if you need a different world type you'll have to make the border a fixed size.

(...), is there a way I can rotate the map to whatever angle I like instead of the pre set 90 degree angles

Not in WorldPainter. But of course you could rotate the height map yourself before you import it.

Would it be possible to change the smallest 'pencil' size so that it draws a line like the one on the bottom of that image?

I see what you mean. However it's not entirely trivial. Firstly some people might want it to work like it currently does, for different reasons. And secondly it's not a given which pixels it should add, since you could add them on either side. However your point is well taken and I'll think about a good way to solve this.

running prog on win10 64bit with 64 and 32 bit java 8 and 111 ..program does this time to time, randomly ..

This is probably a know bug or interaction between Java and your video driver. I've added this problem to the troubleshooting page.

i've send you test files via PM. Not only spawners, hoppers, chest, minecart chest and commandblock too. Schematics with meta data broke i think two or three versions after you implemented it, if i recall correctly. it has been broken for years i'm afraid.

I'm sorry to hear that. Strange that nobody ever told me! Apparently very few people ever use this stuff...

NBT seems to retain basic meta data. i've included all my observations in the DM

Weird. But I'll look into it, thanks!

I notice you sneaked in NBT file format support. What are the characteristics of NBT files, do they retain more block meta data or? edit: a test shows that it will retain the mob data of spawners unlike schematics. Without testing every variation I expect my assumption was right, it preserves all the extra block data?

Hmmm, it's been a while since I did that, but looking at my code quickly I don't think it does! It's still a little experimental.

On the other hand: schematics should preserve the extra block data of tile entities such as mob spawners, so that ought to work. And I'm sure that has worked in the past. Could you send me such a defective schematic?

EDIT: I fixed it... It was ALL MY FAULT!!! Idk but I re-installed and now it works

I'm glad to hear that. Is it possible that the original problem was that your disk was full? Otherwise I don't know what could have caused it, so hopefully it stays away, but please let me know if it happens again.

This may have already been asked, but how to you add blocks from other mods in to worldpainter? I made a mod and my block ids are 4096-4107. Worldpainter only goes 4095.

Minecraft maps cannot contain block ids above 4095. The mod is using different block ids on disk than it is reporting in-game. You need to find out from the documentation or the authors what the on-disk block ids are which the mod uses.

I click 'Locate' and maneuver to the filepath (C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_121\bin)

If it's in Program Files (x86) then it is 32-bit. You need to install the 64-bit version of Java. There is a download link and instructions for which file to pick next to the download link for WorldPainter.

If you're still looking for someone and have no objections about dealing with slow/awkward me on this, i'd love to send you some screenshots when it's finished.

I have a few candidates, but I'm definitely still looking. No reason it has to be one map. So yes I'm interested, keep me posted!

Just curious what the logic behind the UI change of the non-custom terrain tab is, all the individual buttons now seem illogically tiny. Not quite sure if it's a feature or a bug, but it's the sort of mild annoyance that becomes incredibly frustrating in the long term. The other changes (the option to view or not view terrain, for instance) are welcome additions, but this small UI change is really irritating.

I think you're exaggerating slightly, but it was an inadvertent change resulting from adding the Show and Solo Terrain checkboxes to that panel. I'll see if I can restore the old behaviour.
