I just finished implementing something similar. Works well. Yours is a bit better though as I haven't even begun to touch up. :tongue.gif: Nice

posted a message on Notch just updated his blog
You have to take into consideration that as much as you want to be in the testing and think it will be all fun and games, most of that time will have the server start and stop and require mostly less fun activities. Also, the condition of the game will probably be so it's just barely playable, otherwise he would release it for everyone. It will probably not be just playing around all giddy and all as they will be attempting to make it playable and fun for everyone else who has bought the game. Notch will probably look for people, whom he probably already has in mind, who will take the testing seriously and cooperate in an attempt to make that phase of Minecraft as short as possible for the rest of us to be able to play. Many times I have been in these types of testings for other games and mods and they are tarnished by players who are to immature too handle the constant fixes/crashes/restarts and can only scream "THIS R GLITCHY, HAHAHAHA", which is not productive at all and extremely obnoxious.

I am sure everyone will play soon after that ends and, if I remember right, I think he was considering releasing a LAN version or something rather just prior to the release of the official SMP.

All I can say is continue to be patient. Most of us have waited months and some of us even a year for SMP. In that time, it has past all our expectations. A little more time can only do good and we can wait a couple weeks longer.

I was curious if anyone else was encountering this... not necessarily reporting a bug as it could just be me.

Has anyone else noticed when I exit a Mine Cart that they will drop into the block that the railway piece is located on? It seems that after I bail from the Mine Cart, I instantly fall through the block below me.

This has been happening to me all day since the recent patch (at least that seems to be when I first noticed it and I have been playing for a while). Becomes a real nuisance when you make tracks high off the ground and you need to hop off. :tongue.gif:

Just wondering if it is just me or is everyone else encountering this problem as well.

    Reminder

    Also...

It is pretty cool. I hope the flowers are the way to do it. Yet, it would be cool if they did it in any of the other ways people have mentioned with berries and stuff. Most likely they will be flowers though.

1 - An idea about cloth armor
2- Dyes, a way to get those colored cloth blocks in Infdev!
    2 -Berry's, Bushes and Dye's

Nice way of showing it with the flowers / blocks. :smile.gif:

It is common for me to run into them whilst attempting to use a Mine Cart track at night due to the fact that I have torches along the track... it really has become a nuisance.

On a positive note.. I have become a pro at drive by sheep stabbings.

posted a message on Switchable Minetracks Help
Well... if you really want to make it, you might want to consider this...

*There are more complicated ways to make this, but for the sake of only using pictures and not needing to go underground with a video, I did it in an enlarged and less complicated version.

    Overview:

Basically, you can make a switch in the middle of the tracks and wire it with red stone (or whatever you want to call it) to the two tracks entering from the far left and far right as seen in the picture above. That switch will make it either...

A.) Continue straight from left to right or right to left.

B.) Directed toward the middle track that comes toward the character taking the picture.

You can also change the direction of the middle track with the button on the side of the cobblestone holding the rock...

    Button:

    Left:
    (notice picture angle change)

    Right:
    (notice picture angle change)

*Sorry for all the large pictures.. should have re-sized before uploading.

Although this works, it is excess work and a waste of materials if you are short (not so much a problem for me at the moment). I would probably suggest just using the glitch (when the Mine Cart can go straight no matter what) until, if at all, it is removed by Notch or it just stops working. You might just want to use a non-glitching track modifier because you are that kind of guy.

Note: You can also look into the underground version, but you will have to venture into that on your own as pictures make it near impossible to show.

Good luck on your adventures with tracks and hope this sheds some light on your problem. :smile.gif:

    Which one is obeyed?

    Really depends on the day.

Serious: You are jumping to conclusions and initiating a flame war. Please avoid doing so as it will only lead to a disastrous ending.

I feel that is under flaming / admin discretion. I do see where you are coming from.

Anyone else think that should be made a separate rule?

posted a message on New Minecraft Community Channel : Rules [#mcchatter]
This is a set of rules that I made so we can keep as much order as possible for a random channel.

The Minecraft Community Channel, #mcchatter, is a designated channel for the members of the Minecraft community. Please keep in mind if there is a topic that you wish to discuss that is directly related to Minecraft, that can be discussed at #minecraft.

    Rules:

    - No offensive remarks : Remarks deemed inappropriate and offensive by an Administrator will result in a kick and then a ban.

    - No excessive caps : Excessive caps are obnoxious and deter from the conversation.

    - No flooding channel : Flooding the channel prohibits the users from talking.

    - Keep flaming to a minimum : Excessive flaming is not fun for anyone. If warned by an Administrator to stop, please do so.

    - No illegal material : Please do not distribute or link to illegal material.

    - No advertising : Advertising for a community is not allowed.

    - Administrators hold final call : If an Administrator feels you have broke a rule that might not be listed here, he / she still holds the right to act in the best interest of the channel.

    - Use common sense! : If you have to think twice about doing something, it is probably wise to avoid.

Remember : This is for discussion of any topic that follows the rules. It does not need to be related to Minecraft. Have fun and talk with community friends!

This is what we have so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    BoHiCa
