Haha. If you are playing since Alpha, this question is very funny to still hear, like "Removed Herobrine" lol. I had all the time to complain at first, I had my creative ideas voids. Minecraft CANNOT be ruined, unless it's ruining your ideas! Only your ideas can be ruined with an update. And if not it's enchancing it every time.

If I enter, for example, in a sci-fi server, I could want to change my name for Gorgoz (shooted this out of nowhere hehe!). And if later, I switch to a medieval server, I could want to change my name for the one I use when playing RPGs: Morgan Belgarath. And for the rest, I'll stick with Blitzgrutel, as my real Minecraft name. -

The major things I remember was the mega differences between what we experienced at this moment and today.
1: The implimentation of the half slab: We were so RELIEVED that the half slab was "invented". Before that we were always jumping around like gazelles to get up on any hill or block. Today this block is almost never used by the community. But at this moment it was the most praised one!! lol
2: The lava bucket bug: There was a time where the lava bucket was terribly dangerous because of a bug. If a chest was opened with a lava bucket in the hand, the lava was putted on the ground, destroyed the chest and it's content, burned us and sometimes killed us!!
3: The bed: What a relief it was!!! skipping the night by sleeping! And no more bed represented by wool blocks or half slabs. There was even entire blogs about how to create beds in Minecraft with blocks! lol
4: The leaf decaying bug: There was a time when leaves did not decay like today because of a bug. We had to break every leaf block to get rid of a tree. It was so long! I was creating a forest at this moment, a forest like those today that have a lot of big trees, and I finally gived up on that hehe! - To post a comment, please login.

Hehe, I'm playing Minecraft since Alpha and never experienced what you're saying.
Try to learn new things IRL, that should solve your issue. The limit of Minecraft is your imagination. And imagination is infinite so you just have to stimulate that and everything will go on.

Hi,
Is there a way to /give a fishing pole that the hook will go faster than normal when lauched?

Hi Everybody! This project will NOT be update often due to the huge amount of work it takes! Once 100% done I will release both the final video and the world for download.
This is a project I’m now on for about 1 year. It will work in 1.8. Right now, I’m around 50% done creating all the frames in Paint.net. I have to take a screenshot of ever frame I need, then resize it at 17 pixels vertical, and then correct the picture it creates to match the frame before and after. Then I can use it to create the ingame one.
Then it’s rather easy. Each frame is shown in the TV with /clone commands. For the sounds, I’m using all the .json game sounds with /playsound, with a center right where the player will stand. The sounds will also play to very one else standing alongside too.
To play the video, I created a main track (see pics) that changes the frames, and the sounds plays from this main track. Everything just needs 1 pulse and the video will play entirely.
Here’s the video preview:
Here's the original:
Here’s some pics of the thing:

Thanks! I'm almost done with the city part BTW. It will be a feudal imperial japanese city with a temple and a giant pagoda.

4 years of boat race object creation pays off! I'm already at 10% and I think I'm pretty much done for the basic obstacles!
The next part of the track will be inside a city. And after that, I have all these giant plants I could use to create a part inside a giant pond...

This video shows what are the controls on ice in the done part of the track:
1
Building progress : 10%
With the recent 1.9 update, I started exploiting the new fixed boat possibilities.
And the fact is that the boat on ice and packed ice is going REALLY fast. About the same speed as flying with the running speed added!! More than that, the friction is very low, even when turning. The overall controls feels like an airboat on an air hockey board: Airboat in Wikipedia
This is very interesting inside a high speed drift race. So I started to build that! It will have 5 starting gates with automatic start countdown and release gates, the whole with light and sounds (already done ATM). We will have to race around various obstacles through the track. I’m also planning to add a lap counter.
I also noticed that the speed is very low but higher than regular floor when we are on slime blocks! So I created some track borders with that.
The only sad thing is that it must be on a flat floor. ATM I didn’t find any way to get up enough easily to be interesting for this speed. And this goes as well for the water so no possibility to get in water and get back on ice (yet).
Here’s some pics of the done work. I'm pretty much done for the basic obstacles. After the part you can see in the screenshots, I think I'll make a city part. Any idea is welcome!

With 1.9 finally arrived, I must say that I am WAY MORE than disappointed. Nearely everything I created for the boat does'nt work anymore...
The boat does'nt get up when entering a water slope or pillar. It just sink!!!! (no parkours, no trial race)
When I click under a block, the boat does'nt appear anymore above it!! (no boat puzzle and no boat battle)
If I put a boat on a water slope, he does'nt get down rapidely anymore!! (no slope race)
The only thing left to create for that crappy thing is a dull flat race.....
EVERYTHING that was fun and exploitable is now gone...
And so, everything I was working on since ALPHA is also gone.
4 years of work and concept creating in trash.... Thanks Mojang.... gosh...........

hehe cool it works. It's just that, all red and this warning... lol

The fact is that the boat controls will be changed again in 1.9, and the new controls might have completely destroyed the use of the boat I was planning for this race. It's the fourth time Mojang is completely revamping the boat controls since I started creating things for the boat in Beta state. And this time, I completely stopped the building to wait for the 1.9 because I'm really pissed of (6 years of work, fourt time being shot in the back with the controls changing). Once at 1.9, I'll test if there's still a gameplay possible but I think that the boat will have the most crappy controls I ever saw for a boat in a game, so nothing is sure ATM.
